Caleb Williams on performance vs. Baltimore Ravens | Chicago Bears
Caleb, with the offensive consistency right now, what is most urgent to you as you walk forward out of here? Uh, penalties and being able to score in the red zone. Um, I think, you know, uh, we get into, you know, those moments and, um, you know, we’re either not scoring and and converting in those moments and we know, uh, you know, that we can, I mean, we we could have been up 14, um, in that in those first two, you know, drives we had, I think it was, or first two out of three or whatever the case may been. And um you know it that that would have you know created a bunch of momentum for us and I think that’s how it’s been you know a good amount you know of the of the year especially these past two games been in the red zone a bunch and you know not not necessarily being able to you know punch it in um in the high red and things like that. So um you know I think uh I think that’s that’s that’s the two main main things that we got to fix and you know uh the the you know guys jumping off sides um and and um those type of things. Uh we’ll we’ll we’ll get fixed and um you know I’ll uh I’ll um yeah we’ll we’ll we’ll get that fixed and uh be able to move move on from those and then uh we just got to execute the plays from there. What’s your read on on the interception? Yeah, I uh it was a good read. Uh Rome manto man with with uh you know the guy that caught the pick and I just didn’t give a good ball to Rome there at the end. You get hit on the deep ball to DJ. First of all, you okay? Yeah. Yeah. I know. We’re all good. Second, I mean, and then the series where you sneak and they kind of take a while getting off you, what could have been done differently there? I I know it’s at the end in a 144, but still. Yeah. Um I think um I think I think just punching it in um in that situation. Um and then, you know, right there at the end, uh it was just me and DJ not being on the same page. Um, I think it was Zero, I think I saw. Um, I haven’t I haven’t gone back and watched it yet, but Zero was sitting um, obviously he was sitting a little bit lower on the front part of the the goal line, but um, I I still saw space to the right of right of him, so I tried to, you know, get get DJ to try to throw it there. And, um, you know, I think it was just a miscommunication in that situation. Do you think that, uh, that end of the uh, first half drive could have been managed better? I mean, I know there was an an intentional grounding, which probably was debatable, and then there were some passes or some completions inbounds. What was your uh kind of summation of the whole thing? Yeah, we had two timeouts. Um the intentional grounding just wasn’t on the same page with with uh Lovelin. Um I was throwing uh him breaking out. It’s a it was a choice route, so he has a this isn’t anything about Lovelin and anything like that. We just weren’t the same page. It’s a choice route. has a couple different options to break in break in sit or or break out and things like that and I just wasn’t on the same page and that that comes with reps and and things like that. So, um I think that’s what it I think that’s what it comes down to. Um I could have gotten out of bounds also if we want to, you know, talk about managing and things like that. That’s a that’s a part of it is that I could have got out of bounds in that long run uh to save that that second time out and uh but you know that that didn’t happen. And so um I think uh I think it just comes down to connecting. I think it comes down to being the same page and uh just executing the plays that are called. Did you just decide in that moment that you could get more yards? Didn’t go out enough. Yeah, I thought I could get more um if I didn’t go out and um you know end up sliding and got up and around uh midfield. What’s the goal on that last play in the first half where you obviously have no time outside trying to set up field goal? The idea of the last play just Yeah. What are your options there when I was throwing or what are you saying? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. uh the play before the last play, I uh I wanted to try and get us back in uh range. Um and I I felt that they were gaining depth on the defense. Um and I I uh you know knew Lovelin was about to pop out after after he got out in his uh nudge block. And um just tried to give him a you know a runner’s ball and keep you know upfield shoulder and let him get as much as he could to uh be able to get us in field goal range. And you know uh Cairo missed by you know yeah very very very small. So, um I think uh I think in that execution of of that that 911 or or whatever whatever um hurricane situation, I think, uh I think we just, you know, don’t have the dag on penalty before. You didn’t get as much from the running game as you had the previous two days. Was it uh Ravens or did you guys just uh was it something else? Yeah, I mean I mean let’s give credit to to those guys over there. They came out and played a hell of a game. um they made the plays when they needed to and uh you know I think I think uh yeah I think that’s what it comes down to. It’s a hell of a team over there. I know their their record doesn’t necessarily show it but you know that’s a that’s a I mean they’ve been in multiple multiple uh championship games, playoff games and things like that. And um that that game today uh was one of those games where you know you got to they got to come out and you know try and win this game and um you know we didn’t execute the plays we needed to um at the right moments and you know they did. you talked this season about getting that first down. It seems like when you guys got a first down or two, you had some rhythm, but uh when they they stopped you, it just it things just kind of snowball. Yeah, I think even in those situations um and and multiple times where, you know, uh our first or second play didn’t keep us on track or whatever the case may be. We got to find ways to get back on track and either get the first down or if it’s second down and and long, we got to find a way to get down a third down or short and things like that. So, um I think that comes down to me. I think it comes down to us as players catching a knife or run uh runs and and and just you know bulldozing and getting forward uh and and and falling forward and things like that to be able to get as many uh yards and dirty yards as we can to be able to stay in um you know more manageable situations um you know instead of you know being in some longer third downs or you know second downs and things like that. You talked about red zone. We’ve talked about penalties for weeks now. Coaches believe kind of you are what you emphasize and you guys emphasize it. Y why do you think it’s not changing? Um I I think it just we got to emphasize it more. Um you know I think uh I think that’s what it comes down to. I think being able to emphasize it more. I think being able to uh talk about it more, figure it out um is is is where we’re at. just just just find a solution on why um and find a solution to to stop it. Uh cuz it’s it’s hurting us as an offense and as a team. Interception. You saying the throw just didn’t get there fast enough or what were you saying? Yeah. Yeah. I didn’t I didn’t uh I it was just uh he undercut the p uh the the route. Um and I you know I could have let him you know farther out in front um instead of trying to give him a shot right here. And um you know that’s that’s you know he did it he made a great break break on the play. Um just unfortunate uh where we were on the field in the situation. On the touchdown drive you did have, you hit that screen to DeAndre into pressure. What what happened there to spring that? Yeah. Uh coach made a great call. Um you know end up making a check and then uh um you know from there everybody just did their job and um you know we love everybody loves you know screens into into pressure. Um I think doing a good job just selling it like we’re you know normal drop back or anything like that and then you know find a way to get a good ball to to Swift and let him go make play. Caleb, what are you noticing with the two-minute drive? Because obviously you guys have been so were so successful at that earlier in the season. We’re probably talking something different if it wasn’t for the intentional grounding today. What What about that part of the offense needs to change? Nothing. I think that I think Yeah. I mean, you got to go out there and execute the plays. Um you got to go out there and be on the same page in those moments. And um you know, uh like you said, if we didn’t have that penalty, we’d probably be talking about it a little differently. But um I think in you know that situation we just were on the same page and the penalty um you know put us back um you know you know pretty far in in in that moment and um I think there was 40 seconds on the clock in that situation or so and um just just being able to find a way to be on the same page and and and deliver him a good ball um you know with with the pressure that was you know being brought. What do you think is a lesson for yourself after a game like this? Yeah. Um, a lesson for myself is uh find just just throughout the week, practice week or um even in games if if you know the momentum or um we we just we got to find a way to get in the end zone. Um and we got to find a way to stop the bleeding when you start bleeding. Um and I I think I can do a better job with that helping out um and and leading these guys. Thanks. Awesome. Thank you to best.

Foh Ravens defense going back into form and then itll be scary for other teams.
Notice how he stutters on the "I I I" I think he has a personality/Ego defect.
Worst of the QBs taken in that draft, no better than Justin Fields…
at least his nails are painted
This guy is so unlikable. This is why you don’t draft a guy who is literally incapable of leading, accountability/responsibility…and expect him to LEAD grown men in an nfl franchise. This guy will be forgotten about very soon.
The Bears don’t win these 7 games and step up play the right way score and play consistent and complimentary nfl football on the offense stack up the score it’s over. They need also to play tough and strong minded straight forward defense this season or it’s over and done for our beloved Bears.
You know
He’s going cost Ben Johnson his job.
Its like Dj is not on the field. What a waste of talent!
He not a pocket passer. Plain and Simple
Clearly, penalties were a killer. But specifically on Caleb Williams I wish he was more accurate man. He makes the right reads but the ball doesn't come out correctly. And with these choice routes it seems like every week the WR/TE is not on the same page as the QB. We're halfway through the season man. How much more practice or reps do you need to be on the same page? Just a frustrating game where it should have been much closer.
Lets go detroit lions booooooo bears
98% of you clowns in the comments talking shit about Caleb Williams was just on his dick at some point in the last 4 weeks SMH thats why the Bears can never win shit, because our idiotic fanbase doesn't deserve it. You all are a million times more embarrassing than the team or any player could ever be.
im so tired of him he is not our QB he to soft! doesnt process well sliding instead of goin out of bounds means hes not aware the pick as well. i rather lose with tyson at this point im cool if he gets hurt.
Why aren’t we throwing to DJ more often he’s truly is our #1 receiver i don’t get it, looks like Loveland is a bust first he can’t stay on field and when we start him he does nothing and if we don’t play good defense and get turnovers and run the ball good we lose. I’m sorry people all of our picks are doing nothing on the field are we just picking the wrong players. If things don’t turn around soon Ryan Poles has some answering to do.
We know Caleb didn’t play well, but y’all steady trying to make everything his fault the defense every fucking game this year has given up damn near 30 points. Caleb does not play defense. We need to start looking at Dennis Allen.
Dennis Allen is the problem. This defense is fucking horrible.
When are we gonna start holding Dennis Allen accountable? This defense is horrible. Every game teams are going down at 30 points a game. We gave a 30 points to a third string quarterback.
Dennis Allen is the problem. This defense gives up too many fucking points.
He’s just not an elite level QB. Simple as that
Damn some of our fans switch up so easy. Im a bears fan and Caleb is still a great QB he's learning, our team is good, we are making mistakes. Everyone's so negative. Caleb can be an amazing Quarterback, just give him some time yall.
Not your fault Caleb, although you do need to be more accurate and locate DJ, but Ben's play calling was terrible and has been for a few games. GET MORE AGGRESSIVE PUT THE BALL IN THE END ZONE! Bear Down Guys!
Hes not that bad hes 12th in passing yards
Ryan Poles royally messed up starting him in his rookie year with a bad coach. He is only the 3rd best QB in division by default since vikings worse.maye, daniels and nix are all better at this point in their careers and Caleb looks like a QB who got drafted in the later rounds.
Keep Going Caleb It’s All Part Of The Process💯🐻
HAHA CALEB SUCKS.
I'm not sure he is aware that anyone except Rome is on the field
He’s uncoachable plain and simple, it’s not a talent thing, learning thing, he is not the kind of player that does what’s asked. He thinks he knows everything
even through the rough ones im seeing positives something you typically didnt see with the chicago bears in recent years something to look forward to no doubt in my mind ben will drill into everyone and tune up what we need done.
Cmon Caleb real Chi Town fans rooting for U.
Ben needs to call play where we Caleb takes shots down field early . 50/50 balls we got awesome WRs
