[Pablo Torre] According to Pablo Torres sources in the league office, “Terry’s investigation was never closed, so he was not cleared of anything.” yet continued to allow him to play because Wachtell, Lipton (who the NBA hired to look into this) couldn’t find a ‘Smoking Gun’

  1. So the NBA is now reversing course? I swear I remember reading that they had cleared him and closed their investigation….

Either way, the Heat got totally screwed in all this.

  2. This is bullshit, and the Heat better do something about it. I want the pick back, and for them to remove Terry’s contract. You know teams like the Laker and Celtics wouldn’t have to deal with this shit. The Heat ownership/front office better not bend the knee to the NBA.

  3. Legally we always presume innocence until proven otherwise. NBA couldn’t really remove an “innocent” player just for suspicion but they could’ve at least give a heads up to the Heat 😭

  4. We very likely aren’t gonna get a pick but at the very least the NBA should give us an exception with his contract. Its incredibly unfair to have that blackhole on your books and not be able to sign anyone.

  5. The online bookies flagged the Rozier prop bets and suspended further betting because it was “obvious” that insiders must be betting.

The league, rather than doing a fucking thing about it, instead facilitates a trade to a completely innocent team that loses a pick, absorbs the bad contract, and now has to deal with the controversy.

  6. Charlotte literally scammed us and they have our pick. They fucking cheated, the NBA helped them do it, and we got bent the fuck over. The Miami Heat should make a statement on all this. I’d prefer an aggressive one, but either way Mickey and Riley can’t settle for this.

  7. This is so easy. Give us a compensatory first round pick in 2027 to open up our trade flexibility. Then also give us an expecting this year against Terrys contract on the books. Nothing changes for Charlotte. NBA gets some good PR by taking care of its teams.

  8. So for a fact the Heat didn’t know anything? I don’t want to get riled up for nothing lol

  9. Yup this makes the league look even worse if true. It was released that he was cleared by several outlets. If they lied and were still watching him but let him play then they knowingly put the heat in a shitty position. They better just get ahead of this and own the mistake and afford the Heat a pick or theirs back. If they continue to dig this hole for themselves then the fallout from teams and fans are going to get worse. If they lied about this situation what other things have they swept under rugs over the years? I’d like to think there’s a lot of shady business that went overlooked. Frankly, idk if they could or would but if this continues I think they could take this the litigation route considering the Heat were defrauded of a premium asset and 25 million dollars annually over 3 seasons.
