  1. Dodgers have no fight in them. Bats are dead, they needed a complete game gem from Yamamoto and an 18 inning marathon where Schneider pinch ran for every decent bat to get the wins they have.

    My expectations are non-existent

  2. A lot of people in my life were telling me the Dodgers would roll the Jays. My response was “Dodgers are good, but the Jays are magic”. When the Nats beat the Astros in 2019 that was my proof of concept.

    Looking good so far.

  3. We’re better baseball team. I don’t know if there’s anything deeper than that. Dodgers have won games behind heroic one-man performances but otherwise have looked very beatable.

However, I won’t for a second think that they can’t and won’t suddenly get hot. So best not be complacent.

  4. Trey Yesavage isn’t a FA until after the 2031 season. This is a franchise altering kind of development

  5. The Blue Jays have felt like the team of destiny to me ever since we were playing Texas earlier this year and the Rangers color commentator talked about how this Jays team has something special that reminded him of the ’23 Rangers and their miracle run to win the World Series.

  6. Observing some of the body language in the Dodgers, including Mookie in a post game interview, you might think they don’t have much fight left in them.

  7. It took a masterclass performance by Yoshi (along with some chicanery from the Jonas Brothers) and 18 innings for the Dodgers to get their two wins in this series. Other than that the Blue Jays have dominated. With the next two in Toronto, I think the chances of the Blue Jays winning this thing are pretty good at this point.

  8. It is so painfully apparent how much better Blue Jays’ outfield defense. These last two games, almost every hard hit ball in the outfield that had a great probability of being a double or a triple died in the diving hands of Barger and co. They are so much younger, quicker, and athletic.

It is depressing to compare them to Teo, how slow he is to every ball.

  9. Mookie seems like he lost his power to age but hasn’t come to terms with it. Maybe all these long pop outs would’ve gone over the wall a few years ago

You’d think if anyone could evolve into an elite contact get on base guy itd be him but maybe that’s a whole offseason of work away.

Or maybe hes just cold idk, but I’ve spent the whole series worried about his bat coming alive but based on his body language it seems like even he doesnt believe that’s possible at this point

  10. And man, how badly we miss Vesia. Like if he was there for both of the Snell outings, to bail him with the final out or two, it could have been so much different.

Obviously, his family is above everything, but I think we can be sad about both of these things

  11. One interesting aspect was Roberts letting Snell pitch after the Barger hit.

I get why he did it, that said perhaps having Lukes in the game for Schneider vs a RHP probably increase the contact % and a likely out

Id be shocked if Yoshi didnt go at least 6 next game.

  12. Not much to say to be honest.

The Dodgers straight up sucked on all fronts and Trey Yesavage pitched the game of his life.

  13. Dodgers path to a World Series is tough but doable.

    Against them:

    * There is *nobody* in that pen. Even Sasaki didn’t look perfect the other night, but outside of him who do you go to at this point? In some obvious cases they’re tired, Banda’s stuff was down last night and it showed.
    * The bats don’t look good, top to bottom. But the top part is what is concerning: Outside of a few heroic moments Freddie hasn’t been good and his ABs have been ugly. Don’t even get me started on Mookie. Last night Smith looked even more tired than after the 18 inning game he caught. Shohei doesn’t go off every single game.
    * They pulled the levers with their lineup yesterday (Smith up, Pages out) and it didn’t matter.
    * OF defense is clearly vulnerable

    For them:

    * Yamamoto coming off 2 complete games could very well do it again and secure a WS MVP, win or lose. His pitch placement last game was as close to perfect as it gets, left nothing over the heart of the plate.
    * They probably flew last night to Toronto and get a well needed rest day. I think the age of their roster is showing, especially in the 3 games straight part of the series that actually ended up being 4 games straight. There is no way their offense is as bad as it has looked and I’d like to think exhaustion has played a factor.
    * Game 7s are wildly unpredictable since all cards are on the table
    * Shohei Ohtani

  14. I’m not looking forward to Yamamoto but that’s tomorrow’s problem so gonna enjoy the now

  15. Yankees beat the Jays in one of the ALDS games, and they took that personally. We unleashed them on everyone else.

  16. Reminder that Toronto had 1st and 3rd with no one out against Yamamoto in the first inning of game 2 and didn’t score.

I think Yamamoto will pitch well but it won’t be a shutout. Dodgers are going to have to wake up their bats to force a game 7

  17. I was thinking about this yesterday, obviously you can’t overstate how massive it would be for the Jays if Yesavage comes back next year and still plays like a star, but it would be very funny if he’s mediocre after this and he just had an absolutely god tier run at the perfect time before the tape got out on him.

  18. Have we considered that when Dave Roberts said “let’s really ruin baseball” he was referring to playing an 18-inning game

It’s not looking good but there’s nobody I’d rather have on the mound for game 6 than Yamamoto. He can give this team a chance.

  19. Dodgers have a Yamamoto, but we have a Yesavage.

Pitchers starting with “Y” so hot right now.
