Long time reader and first time poster. The season has been tough so I’m trying to get excited for the future. 😆 The Blues drafted Karotky in the 7th round of the 2024 draft. This year is his first full season in the KHL playing for St Petersburg. Thus far in 19 games he has 9 goals and 5 assists. He’s a center with a lot of toughness. Highlights online show a lot of skill too.

Since he’s an international player and not signed to a contract, I don’t really know what the process generally is. How long to the Blues have to sign him before he becomes up for grabs? Correct me if I’m wrong but since he will be 20 in December I don’t believe he is eligible for the draft.

The Blues still have his rights. Generally, he has to be released from his contract in the KHL before coming over, but I don’t think that precludes him from signing an ELC. It might though

  2. I watched a bit of Dvorsky, Lindstein, and Stenberg’s stats when they played in the SHL (Which should be a less difficult league than KHL) and I don’t think they produced quite as much as mentioned in this post for Karotky. Maybe he can be our unpolished gem. 7th round to NHL regular? Would be a sick story.
