I’ve always thought the statistics department stretches a little, “This is the first world series where a left handed pitcher who’s grandmothers maiden name starts with the letter G, what a historic outing”
Otani tying the record for most extra base hits, and for most intentional walks in the same game is wild.
boy can’t wait to see Vlad lift the commissioner’s trophy while i’m still waiting since 2017 to see Judge get a ring
Has the World Series ever been won on Halloween?
This seems like a stretch.
Need to add, the most strike outs without a walk in WS history by any pitcher.
Canada is not a foreign country in the MLB…
I thought i heard Buck say that Jeter back in 2000 with the Yankees hit a leadoff hovering in 2000 WS game. Isn’t this the first time in 25 years?
What a game, this baseball is.
This has been an exciting WS
And yet, still missing the historic first I was really, REALLY hoping we’d see at this WS.
Sigh. Go Jays.
why did you use slop to make this lol
Forgot most strikeouts with no walks – 12, Yesavage game 5 (all pitchers, not a rookie record)
r/dodgers will see this and claim its the worse world series ever and that they need to rebuild😭
Most combined hits by a duo on one team in a single postseason – Guerrero & Clement with Vladdy being a good candidate to take the all time lead if they go 7 games
I’ll go out on a limb and say that Ohtani’s record 9 times on base in 1 WS game will never be broken.
The last line can’t be true, if they consider Canada as foreign to LA. In that case, are we saying the jays have never started and ended the season in the US? Considering the Covid year?
Seeing other comments, but personally think this is all tuff.
If the Jays win, I want a championship T shirt with the records broken on it.
While I hate the Dodgers. This has been such a fun World Series to watch.
Forgot first Mexican player to hit a home run in the World Series!!
The blue jays have started and ended their season in a foreign country on many occasions
I kind of wish game 3 went 19 innings.
You forgot the most strikeouts in a game with zero walks. And tied for most strikeouts in five innings.
The Jays’ win last night did actually *prevent* one piece of history from being made.
There are 35 different combinations of 4 games that a team can win to take a best-of-seven series. 31 of them occurred at least once in the 20th century, and three of the remaining four have occurred in this century: 4-5-6-7 in the 2004 ALCS, 2-3-4-7 in the 2008 ALCS, and 1-2-3-7 in the 2020 ALCS. The only one that has never occurred is 1-4-6-7. However, this World Series won’t be the first; it’ll either be 1-4-5-6, 1-4-5-7, or 2-3-6-7.
(I didn’t bother counting up frequencies for each; I just looked for the first occurrence of each one. I’d assume that the five that end the series in 5 or fewer are most common, even if series ending that quickly aren’t necessarily, simply because there are so many more options for 6- and 7-game series.)
Yamamoto perfect game <96 pitches (please no)
A bunch of stupid stats… and many others that were not included.
Guerrero’s first WS
Bichette’s first WS
And so forth
As much as I disdain overt attempts to sift through data with the predetermined goal of representing a series in a special light, I do have to say this one has a lot of unusual occurrences. What sticks out is the long game (with Ohtani’s 9 times on base) and also a few home runs hit at unexpected / opportune times.
You know what also sticks out? 10 consecutive innings without a run scored by either team…
Very excited. Go Jays.
Little skeptical about that last one.
I find it a little hard to believe the Blue Jays or Expos never had a season that both started and ended on the road.
fuck off with the ai.
Has Toronto never started and ended their season in the US?
I hope that Gimenez walks it off with a homer to joinCarter as ex-Cleveland players walking off WS game 6 wins in Toronto
As a cubs fan, I’m glad our guys aren’t there right now. This from an entertainment point obviously. We didn’t have a single game with as much energy as these two have brought. It’s good for the game and I’m loving it.
You forgot 1st World Series Jays have been in this year
Both Vladdy and Ohtani have 8 home runs the record for most in a single postseason is 10 so that’s catchable for either of them
