Rich Eisen: How the Dallas Cowboys Can Still Win the NFC East | The Rich Eisen Show

This is about a Dallas Cowboys team that’s just at one minute they’re they’re up and then the next minute they’re down. That’s what we call a 500 team. They’re 34 and one which is a half game under 500. Boy, those pesky ties make sure that these fans are who thought there’d be no math in the test. There’s always math. And um he had an interesting way of saying that he he he doesn’t want to hear it that the offense is so damn good and the defense is not supporting it. It’s a team effort. Don’t you know? Well, I mean, it’s a team effort. That’s one way to put it. Here’s another way to put it. None of us have done good enough, you know. I mean, coaches, players, uh, head coach, none of us have done good enough. That’s that’s real. I mean, our our scorecard is what it is, you know. Uh, and that’s not just, you know, defensively, that’s offensively. You know, we’re a football team that’s 34 and one. You can take the stats on offense and far as I am concerned, I mean, is what it is. if we want to win, you know, and people talk about, hey, MVP and this and that. Dak Prescott doesn’t want to win MVP, you know, he wants to win a Super Bowl and that’s what we want to win. And we’re not there yet. We’ve not played that consistently well enough to certainly be in that discussion, but doesn’t mean the journey stops. It certainly doesn’t stop. It just you get more focused. You get more intentional and uh we got to do it together. In case you’re wondering what we bleeped out, uh, he told you to place the offensive stats in a certain orifice where the sun doesn’t shine or not, place that up where the sun doesn’t shine. That’s the, you know, that’s was that the um the old George Carlin bit about words you can’t say on television. Yes, that was definitely there’s a certain body part that you can mention. Yeah. Uh Cam Ward mentioned it to describe the way the Titans were playing recently. But once you you you use a directional in relation to that body part, right? Steve Sable used to put it perfectly. You can use it certain ways, right? But you can’t use it certain ways, right? He’s usually a better wordsmith than that. But I think he was way better than me. Well, I mean, he’s the he’s the once upon a time he’s the one who came up with that the autumn was his pirate. Yes. Um, at any rate, the Dallas Cowboys have an Arizona Cardinals Monday night visit to finish up this weekend’s action before a buy and then a Monday night visit to Vegas while Philadelphia is on a buy this week before returning against Green Bay and Detroit at Green Bay for the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit. So, that’s the next three weeks before they see each other in week number 12. Dallas must win their Monday nighters around their buy and then sit back and watch the Packers and Lions do their thing against the Philadelphia Eagles. That simple. It is that simple because Dallas tied their game against Green Bay and they both have yet to play Detroit. That’s it. And that’s the way that the Dallas Cowboys can go into that contest in week 12 54 and one and have the Eagles being six and four and off you go. And they still have a shot at the division because I’ll tell you what, man. Uh I’m I and I know I know it’s a higher register Thursday. So I’ll say this in a higher register form before we get to the actual segment. I I don’t know if the commanders are going to come back from this this year. And this is Jaden Daniels is hurt his second time this year. He’s missed a game and then you’re wondering is he going to come back and then he’s saying, you know, I I wanted to play medical staff this. I got to listen to these guys. I got long-term this, long-term that. Terry McLaren’s holding out. Then he gets hurt. Then he comes, then he scores a touchdown, comes out. Tyron McLaren and again um I have him in not just one but two fantasy leagues so I’m clearly invested in his um wellbeing right as well as you know what he’s doing both times Marcus Mariota is starting the Washington Commanders are taking on the Vegas Raiders and here goes Mcccluren into the end zone he’s tackled at the half yard line I thought it was a touchdown it wasn’t um poof on that play that he almost scored. It was a quad injury and suddenly he’s standing on the sideline yada yada yada. He’s back a month later and then he has two incredible catches. One for a touchdown, one on a sideline. Yeah, the toe tap was insane. And then the knee getting down before the rest of his body gets down. That was an incredible catch. Holds on to the ball. Next thing I know, he’s out with a quad. Yep. Two incredible plays he makes. And the quad doesn’t survive the ground each time. The ball does. He’s out again. Defensively, they can’t stop anybody. Running. They can’t consistently do anything. They haven’t done anything consistently. Stay healthy. Stop you or run it against you. Sometimes they can, sometimes they can’t. They got the Seattle Seahawks this week on Sunday night. Seattle’s coming off of a buy and they are the kings of coming east and beating you in your building. So, I’m concerned about them. The Giants, I think, are are are out of the mix now cuz they can’t keep anybody healthy there that can help Jackson Dart, whether it’s Malik Neighbors or or Cam Scatitibo. Got to remember though, Tyrone Tracy balled out last year. He came he came out of nowhere, man. I got a feeling, man. I really wanted to pick him up. I couldn’t get him. I have a feeling Tyrone Tracy’s going to show improvement. That that’s not winning the division. No, no, no. But no, but still have some hope, but they could play spoiler this year. Well, I mean, the Giants, um, they have a hard schedule. They’re playing a lot of good teams, so they could really, you know, kind of throw a wrench into things. Actually, take a look at who they have left. They’ve got San Francisco this week. Just to again, forget about where or and who. San Francisco, Chicago, Green Bay, Detroit, New England, Washington, Minnesota, Vegas, and Dallas. The only one that’s currently, you know, so far away that you’re not thinking they’ve got a shot to do very much this year is Vegas in week 17. Otherwise, the Giants are front and center playing a crucial role. Yeah. Interesting. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. 1. Philly’s upcoming schedule will determine the NFCE:

    Lions/Packers/Bears/Chargers/Bills

They have to make hay in these big spots considering those aren’t gimmie games

  2. Did you hear Jerry's latest interview? He straight up said he cares more about the "$100 billion of gas and oil in those fields than worrying about fixing the Cowboys defense." So Dallas has GM that openly admits, damn near brags, about not having the time to do his duties as GM and that he doesn't care about not having that time.

  3. No, it's very simple:
Cowboys will not catch Philadelphia. So the shitbirds will win the NFC East. Now let's look at the Wild Card. Packers and Lions will battle for the North. Whoever loses that division will get the 5 seed. So there are 2 more spots left. Let's go out west. There is a 3 way battle for the NFC West division between LA, SF and Seattle. The two teams that lose that division will get seeds 6 and 7.
I'm a Cowboys fan, but I'm realistic. This defense is absolute garbage. Our owner is too pigheaded to make good decisions in free agency, with trades or in the draft. I literally cannot and will not watch this team anymore.
At least the Longhorns still have an outside shot, and my Spurs look good this year. Cowboys? Nah, they're done. Anyone who says otherwise is bullshitting themselves. I don't have the energy to do that anymore.

  4. Never understood why you guys just talk and talk about a team that hasn't been relevant for 30…count em…30 years!!… Anyone under the age of nearly 40 can't remember them winning!!!

  5. Cowboys fan here. The only way the Cowboys have a chance is if they score 40 points a game because the defense can't stop anybody. Good defenses will slow them down like we saw in Denver and the Cowboys can't afford a drive or two without points. Unless there's some big trades incoming that will bolster the talent on defense, we're cooked.
