Bo Bichette To Mets, Kyle Schwarber To Mets | 5 New York Mets Signings That Can Happen
So, in this New York Mets free agency video, I am going to be talking about five New York Mets signings that I think could happen this 202526 MLB off season. As always, leave your thoughts down below in the comment section of this video. Let’s get right into it. So, the first New York Mets signing that I think could happen this off season is Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies. So, I think that immediately what comes to mind is how happy New York Mets fans would be and just how rattled Phillies fans would be uh to see Kyle Schwarber head to the NL East rival uh New York Mets team. And also too, how awesome it would be if they’re able to retain Pete Alonzo as well. To have Kyle Schwarber and Pete Alonzo hitting backto back, both of these guys are arguably the best two power hitters in baseball and they could easily hit 100 plus home runs combined next year. That is an unreal thought. But Kyle Schwarber this past year for the Phillies had himself just an unbelievable season. He put up a 4.7 war, 145 hits, 56 home runs, a 240 batting average, 111 runs scored, 132 RBI’s, 10 stolen bases, and on base of 365, a 563 slug, an OPS of 928, and an OPS plus of 150. So yeah, Kyle Schwarber has just been incredible. uh quite frankly since going over to the Phillies I believe back if I’m not mistaken in 2022 like in his four years in Philadelphia he has 46 47 38 and 56 home runs respectively that is incredible he is the best power hitter arguably in baseball in the last four years depending on who you ask and the other guy that comes to mind when you say that as I mentioned before that’s Pete Alonzo so if the New York Mets are able to retain Pete Alonzo and they’re able to give a big-time contract uh out to Kyle Schwarber. That’s arguably 100 plus home runs next year. And this could be the identity um of the New York Mets offense. They can just hit absolute nukes out of City Field next year. Also too, you make the Phillies worse. You make your team better. You’re in the same division. You want to get back to the playoffs. It just makes way too much sense in my opinion. But also too, Kyle Schwarber for the last four years in Philadelphia has been extremely durable. 155 160 160 and this past year 162. He’s healthy. He’s reliable. He hits moonshots. This guy checks off a lot of boxes for the New York Mets and makes a lot of sense for them to sign him in my opinion this off season. The next player that I think the New York Mets could be signing this off season in MLB for agency is Bo Bashette of the Toronto Blue Jays. So, I’m not 100% sure what’s going to happen with Bo Bashette this off season. The Blue Jays of course are in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but Bo Bashette may possibly never play for the Blue Jays again beyond this playoff run as he is a free agent. He’s going to command, I would imagine, a pretty good amount of money and he could actually be a pretty good addition to this New York Mets team in my opinion. So, this past year for Bo Bashett, like prior to his injury, was one of the best, if not the best contact hitter in all of baseball. He had a 3.4 four war season, 181 hits, 18 home runs, a 311 batting average, 78 runs scored, 94 RBI’s, four stolen bases, and on base of 357, a 483 slug, an OPS of 840, and an OPS plus of 129. So, a tremendous bounceback year from Bo Bashette uh in Toronto, like the year before in 2024 was disastrous for him. And prior to that, it actually was pretty good as well. So, for the most part, with the exception of 2024, he’s been a very consistent player, over 175 hits uh in four of the last five seasons. He’s always sort of part of the conversation for the MVP in the American League. He’s also been an all-star a couple times. The one thing about Bobette, which isn’t great, is defensive, like his defensive ability. Now, he plays shortstop for Toronto, that’s not going to be the case with the Mets. Uh he of course would play second base because shortstop is occupied by Francisco Lindor but having a middle infield next year Francisco Lindor and he moved Bobette over to be the full-time second baseman. Maybe that means that that someone like Jeff McNeel finds a new home whatever the case may be. I think Bobette would be a tremendous addition to this team especially too if you’re able to sign or I guess bring back Pete Alonso or sign Kyle Schwarber and you want to offset their power with someone that can get on base at a pretty healthy clip. Bulbousett’s your guy. Throw him at the top of the lineup. Be a leadoff guy. Whatever the case may be. I think Bulbashed playing for the New York Mets would make perfect sense in my opinion for 2026 and beyond. The next New York Mets signing that I think could happen this off season is Framber Valdez of the Houston Astros. So, I’ve talked about Framber going to the New York Mets in previous videos, and I really do think that if the Mets are going to go out there and sign any free agent starting pitcher, it’s going to be Framber Valdez because I just think the match of Framber going over to the New York Mets and sort of being the ace for the team next year just makes way too much sense in my personal opinion. So, this past year for Framber in Houston was once again really solid for him. He had a 3.8 war season, 13 wins, 11 losses, an erra of 3.66, 66 31 games played, 192 innings pitched with 187 strikeouts and a whip of 1.245. So Fran Valdez really consistent player um kind of similar to Kyle or to Kyle Schwarber to Kyle Tucker. There’s been actually a lot of consistent players uh who are currently available this off season. Um you know, as I mentioned before, like his last couple years, he’s had an RA of 3.66, 2.91, 3.45, 2.82, 82 3.14 3.57 and his rookie year short sample size he had 2.19. So he’s really only had the one bad year and that was in 2019 but ever since then he’s been part of the Sa Young conversation. He’s been named to the All-Star game a couple times. He’s a really solid player and for this New York Mets rotation which is not very good and projected to be truthfully terrible next season. They have to address starting pitching in more ways than just one. So, I think getting the best player potentially, depending on who you ask, available at that position this off seasonason, and that being, of course, for Amber Valdez is one less problem to worry about. The Mets have to address the starting rotation in some capacity. I don’t want them to go cheap this off season. So, yeah, it’s going to cost you a little bit of money to spend on some of the top players available, but there actually are some pretty good options this offseason in regards to free agent pitchers, which I’ll talk about, spoiler alert, uh, with the next two guys as well. But I think uh you know signing your ace potentially this off season in the form of Franbert Valdez is an awesome move for the New York Mets to make and it’s going to happen this off seasonason. The next player that I think the New York Mets could be signing this off season is Zack Gallon of the Arizona Diamondbacks. So just like Fran Valdez and for a lot of the same reasons they have to address starting pitching. Now unlike Franbert Valdez, Zack Gallon did not have that great of a season this past year. for the entire organization didn’t really have that good of a season. So maybe his value is not the highest. So maybe this could be a good opportunity for the New York Mets to buy low on a player or I guess a little bit lower on a player than they would normally. A player that can offer tremendous upside as well. Now Zack Allen this past year for the Snakes had a 1.1 season, 13 wins, 15 losses, an RA of 4.83, 33 games played, 192 innings pitched with 175 strikeouts and a whip of 1.260. So, Zack Allen, only 30 years old, actually is from the New Jersey area. So, uh perhaps him playing a little bit closer to home, basically in his hometown, that could be very appealing to him if he wants to spend sort of the second part of his career, um you know, sort of around where he grew up. So, that could be appealing to him as well. But, he’s a prime candidate to bounce back. Like, I really do believe that Zack Allen is still a very good pitcher. This past year kind of proved otherwise. I’m a little bit surprised as well that the Diamondbacks didn’t trade him at the 2025 deadline. Uh they got rid of Mel Kelly. Zack Allen, of course, would have probably still fetched them back a decent return. Maybe the return wasn’t great. Maybe they were better, you know, qualifying him, letting him go and sort of heading in that direction. So, that could have been probably why they kept him. But, I think if Zack Gallon is in the open market, uh there’s going to be a, you know, a pretty lucrative market for him. Maybe he’s the kind of guy that signs a short-term deal, bounces back, then opts into free agency once again, and then signs big time. I guess anything’s possible. Only time will tell. But, uh, David Sterns and Uncle Steve have to address the starting rotation. And I think Zack Allen’s not only a good bounceback candidate, but a really solid candidate in in in general to be a good player for this Mets team in 2026 and beyond. So, uh, the fourth player that I think could make a lot of sense and could happen for the New York Mets this off season is Zack Allen of the Arizona Diamondbacks. So, for the next player, I’m sticking with the theme of the starting pitching markets, and I want to talk about Michael King as a potential target for the Mets this off season. So, Michael King is actually a really solid player, and I think he’d make a lot of sense for the New York Mets uh, to kind of round out their rotation for the 2026 campaign and beyond. As I mentioned before, this rotation does not look good. They have to address pitching. They also have a lot of players uh who are pending free agents, you know, coming out of their bullpen. So, they want to bring back Diaz, of course. They want to bring back some other players. Pitching all around could be a problem for the New York Mets. So, there are some options available that I touched on before. You know, Zack Allen, Framber Valdez, Michael King. If they’re realistically able to bring, you know, two of these guys into the fold, they’re probably not going to sign all three because that’d be pretty expensive. That’d make a ton of sense in my opinion uh for the Mets to do this off seasonason. So, Michael King this past year for the Padres’s had a 1.2 or season, five uh five wins, three losses, an RA of 344, 15 games played only. So, a bit of a smaller sample size, I suppose. Uh 73 innings pitched with 76 strikeouts and a whip of 1.200. So, I would suspect that Michael King is looking for a big-time extension. Also, too, he’s from Rochester. uh New York. So perhaps the you know the thought of him coming back to New York playing for the cross town rival. He of course played for the Yankees prior to the Padres’s was involved in the Wanoto trade uh which we all know it could be kind of a cool full circle moment for Michael King and the rest of his family. Now he’s slightly older than some other guys available. He’s going to be 32 years old next year um you know or 31 years old sorry in 2026. So what his contract looks like on the market I don’t actually know. like could it be a four or a five-year deal? It very well could be. But Michael King’s a really solid, a really consistent player. Uh his last couple years in San Diego, especially last year specifically in 2024, was fantastic. He was actually seventh place inside young voting when it was all said and done. So, Michael King’s a very solid player. It also makes the Padres’s worse and makes some other NL teams worse. And he really strengthen your team. He also has bullpen experience as well. Keep that in mind. like prior to going to San Diego, he’s actually a bullpen guy for the Yankees in 2023 and before that. So, Michael King’s sort of a Swiss Army knife in that regard where he can come out of the bullpen, be be effective, he can be a starter and be effective, whatever the case may be, uh the New York Mets can get a little bit flexible in that regard. But I think if they want to round up the rotation nicely and they’re able to sign someone like Michael King, that would be a fantastic move for them to consider and actually pull the trigger on this off season. in my personal opinion. So, that is going to be it for the video. As always, make sure you guys leave your thoughts down below in the comments section.
