CONDENSED GAME: Boston Bruins vs. Buffalo Sabres – 10/30/2025
Live from TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Welcome to Boston Bruins hockey on Nessen. Tonight, the Bruins look to continue their winning ways at home as they welcome in the Buffalo Sabres for the second time this month. Hello again everybody. Along with Andy Brickley, I’m Jud Surat. Thanks for joining us. For about a decade and a half, the culture that the Bruins had in the room was the envy of the National Hockey League. This year they’re trying to reestablish a lot of that culture, albeit with some different players. And there’s a lot that goes into it. But one important ingredient, Brick, is earning your spot in the lineup. And we’re going to see that with what the Bruins are going to have on display tonight against the Sabres. Yeah. And when you win, when you get results and you play the game the right way and the Bruins know what their winning formula is with this group that they have put together this year, that’s what really allows that leadership to build. Tuesday night against the New York Islanders with the Bruins on the man advantage. Morgan Geeki unleashed a bomb in the far circle. The fastest slap shot on record this season in the National Hockey League. And that stick right now is smoking hot goals in each of the last five. You got to love where he is in his career, Jud. You know, he’s 27 years old. He’s entering that real prime earning seasons and his play reflects that. Eight goals already on the year. That’s just in 12 games and he didn’t get his eighth goal last year until game 33. We know what he did in the second half cuz he ended up with 33 goals which was just a real impressive last three months of the season and then the Bruins lock him up for the next six years and and that’s the good news as it’s flipped deep. Benson going to chase sent out in front and Zucker denied by Corposello. Point blank. [Music] Well, Buffalo trying to do what winning teams will do. You kill the penalty. They’ve been very get good at it through the first 10 games and then come right back with a strong share. Five on five. [Music] Bruins can’t manage the puck behind the goal line and they make a play right to the front. Good pick up on the skate. Zer gets a real good opportunity. Kopasal had a smother over the body from close range. He’s dangerous. The twotime 40 goal scorer. Geeki busts over the line. Working against Kessle Ring. Shakes him off. Shoots. Wild stop. First one he’s had to make in the period. And it’s a grade a chance off a guy who scored in each of the last five. Well, we talked about Geeki in the open. We talked about his straight ahead speed. He’s a powerful raw strength guy. I mean, he didn’t have a stride on Kessler. Karing was ahead of him in the neutral zone and he wins the foot race. He wins the battle of strength. If he had held on to the puck a little bit longer, he had more of an opportunity to cut to the front of the net. But because he had to kind of retrieve it a little further down ice below the dod, his only chance was to reach in with a forehand. Still almost slid one through line. Zaka’s got it. 24 seconds left on the Dalene penalties. We’re scoreless. Zaka enters. One hands it across. Geeki shoots. He scores. That stick is still sizzling. He banks in a goal for his sixth straight game. A power play goal. Bruins won. Sabres nothing. [Music] Once he got rid of that broken stick. Bruins using the delay has been pretty effective when it’s been Zach and Lindle whether it’s the crisscross or the trading passes and this one was a little bit of a broken carry in the puck stayed with Zaka and then they make a nice play to Geeky coming late and it’s another rocket shot from Geeky blocker side right through line here’s twoon one he’ll race ahead sitting on 397 goals. He scores. You can make it. 398. He goes low to the glove side. Bruins two. Sabers nothing. You just love it when he has the puck coming down the offside cuz he keeps it in the shooting position the entire time he’s on the attack. You know, he won’t waste any time putting the puck on his backand once he crosses that blue line. Settle that puck down. Look over your options. Little pump pick like he might go across the lin home. You freeze line. You pick your spot. It almost doesn’t even have to be a bullet of a pass, but it starts in the defensive zone. It’s a good stick position check in in man-on-man coverage. And then you get the twoon-one and you bury it. Dene fires Corposell the save and the rebound set wide. You had Tuck playing off the near post and the Bruins bounce it just out to center ice with 10. back all the way to the corner and the Bruins pounded up the left side and down. And that’s going to do it for the opening 20 minutes of play. Goalending and special teams as the Bruins take to a two nothing lead and better execution the deeper they got into the period. And uh the geeky goal on the power play was huge cuz they started to complete some plays that were available to him and then you’re able to follow that up again with your top guys doing the damage. Pasta knock with the second. So he’s a scratch tonight says Patrick this morning. Look at that hop coming off the boards lift it ahead and then he makes his own stop on Thompson and it’s cleared. We had a funny bounce in the first period off the stion at the opposite end. This one now at the other end. Both going against the Bruins in favor of the Savers. Thompson shoots. Blocker aside by Corposal. 17 seconds left on the Pos penalty. We get a chance. The reaction from Corposal was priceless after the giveaway and the stop. Here’s Thompson. Denim shoots. Corposel slides out and gloves it [Applause] off the stans and directly on goal. If you’re not paying attention, that puck’s between the pipes, but Corposal tracks it. He’s going to handle with his stick. He’s going to set it up for a nice easy clear. Whoops. That’s a gifted goal scorer right there in Cage Thompson. [Music] This long shot delivered. Corposalo the save and the offering from Timonss. Back to Timmons fires. Corposal the save. Greenway screening. Valenstein shot. Corposello again. Benson fires. Corposel just got a piece with a left arm. Pulled out of there by Thompson. Back up top for Dene. Benson wanted to send it out in front. Delene. Here it comes. He scores. Good screen out in front. That was Josh Don camped in front of Yonas Corposal. Yeah, that time they did make an adjustment. Corposalo. Only a handful of times have the savings really provided the screen necessary if they’re going to tease drop shots up from long distance. Darene can really shoot it. And I don’t know if this got deflected on the way in. First it was a little pump fake. The Bruins recover nicely and then they go back to Dene for the drive and you know you got a Bruin defenseman in there. That’s Heis Lynholm. You got Don there as well and I don’t know if that hit Don or not but finds the back of the net for Darene. That’s his first goal of the season. He had 17 a year ago which was fifth among defenseman and he was fourth in points with 68. He’s tied up with Tuck Mloud up top. Timmons Byum shoots shrugged off by Corposello. Lynholm steps into Zooker. Buffalo changing Greenway power shoots. loved by Corposello. [Music] Details, the details of the game, especially in a one-goal game. It’s 2-1 late second period. Mitten on the back check. He’s trying to avoid any kind of potential penalty. And then it’s a nice stick on stick check. You win the puck battle. You relieve the pressure by getting the puck to the neutral zone across the red line and the Savers on side. Only one way we’re going to find out. And now we’ll never know. Jano, he’ll barrel in. Drops. Set toward the net. Playing the save. They score. Maratholic. Do got a piece with his stick and flipped it over the goal line. Bruins three. Savers one. [Music] Ah, this is just all about effort and it’s great to be rewarded with the effort. It started back in the defensive zone. Jano picks up a puck. Little tow drag. Creates a little space for himself. Carries it all the way to the offensive zone. Little crisscross with Corali. Corali just puts it on goal. Jano gets the rebound. Castle just wins a battle. Lays out. able to chip it into the goal. That’s huge. I mean, it’s not 5 seconds left in the period like Geekies against Colorado, but it’s late in the period. Period two to go up by two. Let’s see how this period ends. 15 seconds left. Malenstein with a firm check in the corner. Zaka hacking away at Dunn and they’re just going to call Zaka. Across it comes. Corposal got a piece of it. Flipped toward the front. Corposal’s down and that’s going to do it for the period. Crosschecking is going to be the call on the Bruins. You know, there’s been calls of, you know, ticky tack stick stuff all night long and now it’s getting combustible. We’ll see how they handle it. Well, the Bruins with a crucial late second period goal to make it 3-1 at the end of two. We’ll get back to that as Arbitson tried to chisel one ahead looking for Middlestad. Picked off by Mloud. Astronox said he thinks that Morgan Geeki has everything that it takes to get 50 goals. Done shoots. He scores. That rebound pulled out of midair. Knocked down and he swats it home back to a onegoal hockey game. The Bruins are okay because Arbertson’s back. So, it’s going to be a threeon three even though you g give up your blue line. But Arbertson is picking up Don as the trailer and then he vacates when the puck was not secured. And that ends up being the goal scorer. Dylan able to knock it down with his glove hand. And puck’s bouncing. He still bats it on the wide side. Glove side, left pad side. And we got a game at 3-2. Whistles it across. Aspo his backand Den cut it off. He’ll lift it out. Gloved by Aspo behind the plate. It’s as dropping the gloves with Preps. They spin around. Preps a right. Preps went down aced up. Well, the way things were ending in that second period, you had a feeling there’d be something going on here in terms of fisticuffs in the third. I think that was everybody’s expectation in the building, but I don’t think you would have guessed it would have been these two guys. and Boston 19 Buffalo 5 minutes each for fighting. Yeah, Pastanak was very active in the offensive zone and he was active in terms of the physicality where the Bruins were keeping the pressure on and there’s that Krebs hit on Pasta away from the puck. Not sure how that’s not interference and I think that got AC’s attention. [Applause] First bow we’ve seen with Mikey Asimant. [Music] Sabres have it. Dene the faceoff play to the middle. Tuck shoots. He scores. Alex Tuck cut into the middle with a little real estate and ties the game at three. Yeah. Watching Corposal’s reaction. He’s got his arms up. He thought, you know, he had some traffic in the crease from Dome. I’m sure the Bruins will take a look at it, but it’s a nice play off a faceoff win in the offensive zone. I mean, it’s a screen with Ukiharu. There’s just too much net. It’s a good goal scorer from close range, but you can see the Bruins didn’t handle the switch. Two guys going to where the pass was released from. That means someone’s going to be open in front of the net. And it was tough. [Applause] Boston is challenging the play for goender interference. Yeah. So it’s Yoki Haru that makes contact with Pasado. But how did that contact, you know, what caused it? And the Bruins obviously feel that don’t shoved Yokohiu into the Bruin goalender. [Music] And that’s exactly what it looked like. Don pushed Yoki Haru into Corposalo which triggered the contact in the blue paint and that’s not allowed. I mean it’s they’re going to allow the goal but if there’s enough force coaches challenged by Boston team there was no goalender interference. Watch these defensive end game. Jad, I want you, you know, I use the word detail. So, this is a face off. Has on the board side hash mark. Now, this puck comes directly across the hash mark. Watch his stick. His first move is to lift the stick away from where the puck ends up going. You got to hang in there off that draw. That’s why you’re on that hash. Yeah. If you win the draw, you want to, you know, on your forehand, go around the net or chip it to somebody on the other side of Yeah, that’s if you win it. But that’s still a 50-50 puck cuz it goes straight towards the boards. His stick has to be in there and then you have the double coverage. They overcommit to the puck and now Tuck’s wide open. Saka Harbertson squeezed to Geeky with 18. Mackoy up top. Geeki his shot blocked. Gets it back. Trying to go back door. never got there. 9 seconds couldn’t get that centering feed and Tuck wires it down and that’s going to do it for regulation and it’s been an adventure and now it’s three on three. [Music] Mint Lindholm and Hustadino up front. Lynholm walks in, shoots, find the save, looking for his first of the season. Good faceoff win by Minton and then Thompson tripped and it allowed more time and space for Lynholm to get a quality scoring chance. That’s dragged ahead by Samuelson. His feet still got to be singing from the shot clock that he had against Boston. A steal threeon one up. He scores. The Bruins come cascading off the bench. The red hoo with a dagger. Top shelf of the glove end. Bruins four, Sabres three in overtime. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Half the team goes to Corposalo, half goes to Bustadinov. You can understand why they needed their goalender every minute of it tonight. He was outstanding. But how about the kids? It was Fraser Mitten that made the defensive play back in the defensive zone and the presence of mind to make a lateral pass over to Hadino to get the twoon one threeon one with Lyn. He got the two cents on the ice in overtime and they come up big. Now he’s going to lose the puck right here. Good play by Mitten. Feels the pressure from Ta Thompson coming forward. That’s a mistake, but he’s thinking offense cuz the puck. He wasn’t expecting him to lose it. And now the Bruins have a tremendous advantage. He improves his angle the minute he steps into the offensive zone. He’s got the puck off his left hip. He’s in a shooting position and he slowly improves his angle. He gets inside the dot. He gets to the hash mark. He picks his spot short side and ends the game. His first of the season as an overtime gamewinner. The Bruins have won three of their last four. [Applause]

Thanks for the new extended format guys
Exciting game, go Bruins!
Geeky candidate for player of the month for October NHL
Being out shot 2:1 , Korpisalo having to deal with 40 shots not ideal, but a win is a win.
Good win. They need to cut down on penalties and stop letting teams come back on them. Let's keep the win streak going though.
How tf was that not interference?
