Jake DeBrusk, Drew O’Connor & Adam Foote Post-Game Media | Canucks at Blues (Oct 30, 2025)

the battle you saw from your team tonight just everything you guys have gone through even just in the last couple weeks to come out with a win in this one. Yeah, you know, obviously uh Brock going down early, first second shift I think it was. Um you know, other guys had to step up. Woody had a amazing game. The guy can’t miss right now and uh Kevin kept us in it and uh it took the overtime into the shootout and you can see how bad the ice was out there. We got lucky with that and and uh to come out on top. It’s a character builder. You know, it’s good for the young guys to feel that and and us as a group to, you know, try to build on it. obviously starting with this uh this one tonight. When you see Kevin Lankin in in net during a shootout, is your confidence level just the highest it can be? Yeah, I mean um I feel like I always talk about it cuz I’m always in the shootouts when he’s in one. He always seems to be in shootouts, but he’s a guy who always wants me to go against them. He’s a guy who always wants shootouts. Uh he practices a lot and same with Demer. But um yeah, I know what kind of Yeah, I think I said it before, it kind of depends on what their guys do. Um, but I usually know I have a chance as a third shooter to possibly win it instead of keeping it to stay in the game. So, uh, it’s a good position to be in for a shooter. Well, we know the battle doesn’t end here. You guys get Minnesota next on this road trip. How do you continue this success? Yeah, we just got to build on it. You know, obviously they came out pretty hard in the third and um, it’s a good feeling winning and uh, you know, it’s contagious and uh, feel like that’s kind of fun to say, but um, yeah, um, we just got to keep building on it and um, doing we we can to improve. Well, you guys just battle right through this one and find the win in a shootout. What did you see from your group tonight? Uh, just a lot of resilience. Um, I think they pushed at times and we just did a good job just hanging in there and um, a lot of guys stepped up tonight. Obviously, Woody has unbelievable game and um, he’s been great all year. So, um, it’s been cool to see him stepping up, but he’s not the only one. There’s a lot of guys that that contributed tonight. Yeah, speaking of Keer Sherwood, his second career hattick, but what are you just seeing from his game right now? f five goals in his last three three games. Yeah, it’s awesome to see. Um he works so hard and um does a lot of things uh away from the puck and and aside from scoring. So um the scoring is just a bonus for him, but I mean he’s he’s been putting the puck in the net a lot. So it’s uh it’s awesome to see. Nobody works harder than him. So um it’s it’s awesome to see him rewarded. Where is your confidence level when you see Kevin Lankin in net during a shootout? Yeah, he’s he’s solid. uh nothing got by him today. So, um he had a lot of shots today and he did a great job keeping us in that game. Um could have been worse obviously if it if he didn’t uh keep us in it. So, um it’s nice going to the shootout with him, too. Well, Adam, just everything that your team has battled through, especially over the last couple weeks. What did you see from your team in this one to grab the win? You lose best in the first shift, a good player like that. You know, you’re like, “No, here we go again.” And then um you just said at the battle I just told him I it’s pretty incredible for me as a coach and been here 2 and a half years maybe almost three years and it’s the best team game team win I’ve seen since I’ve been here as far as being resilient. Um what our leadership group has done to allow the young guys to come in and feel comfortable, play with confidence, not get upset at them when they make those young mistakes is impressive. um cuz these young guys are giving us good minutes right now and these guys up from the miners and you know even Len’s game tonight um how he played um was pretty good. So the the team part of it um yeah there was some mistakes but that’s okay. They’re making mistakes too. And that’s a good hockey team that’s very desperate right now. They’ve lost five and um you know they I think they’ve got a couple guys out as well but I mean what what’s going on with our group to be that resilient is the key to build on. Well, Kefir Sherwood gets his second career hattick. I mean, is his game surprising you at all anymore? He just he’s a motor. He goes, he loves the game. He what I love about him is early in the season, he he was good and then got off real quick, too. His emotions were in play and our coaches uh our, you know, our forward coaches did a good job just talking to him going, “You control 20%. You’re going to you’re going to have some fun here.” And he listened to them and and they worked together as a group. and you’re seeing he’s on fire right now. Um his emotions probably got him in the league. Uh how he’s plays with that fire and and now with when they’re under control, he’s being very effective out there with his speed and his resilience. Well, I asked the guys this, but I’m curious from your perspective. Where’s your confidence level in Kevin Lankin and in a shootout especially? Well, him and Demer are both. Uh I I I shouldn’t say this because I’m not complete 100% sure. I think I’m very close that I think they’re the top two or top three in the last couple years in shootouts. I mean I mean he studies the game. L is a true pro and so is Denver and they study the shooters. They study the game and it’s no fluke that uh he did what he did tonight. You talk about Sherwood’s motor and his emotion, but what about his shot in terms of what he does? Yeah, I mean it’s like we said uh Scott Young’s a shooter in there. Always has been. And the first thing he says, “Well, I can’t believe that one shot how fast it got in the top shelf.” Uh he’s just playing with a lot of zip right now, a lot of confidence. And when you’re at that level, you know, things happen that way. You’re little to talk about injuries because you don’t want to make excuses. But even you must have said, I mean, come on. When you lose another forward in the first shift to the game, yeah, we got to find that person with the voodoo and all if that’s a thing. And I mean, I don’t believe in that stuff, but I’m like, what is going on here? Um it’s going to just if we can handle it and be resilient, stick to stick to what we’re doing, we’ll all grow from it. And once we get another guy back, another guy back, another guy back, now you know, now we’ve got depth. So, I mean, yeah, we it’s tough, but I’m just proud of the group for they’re becoming a very good team in there, and that’s huge. Do you have an update on Brock at all? I can’t even tell you what happened to him. So, but I think he should be back next game. Are you proud of the way they didn’t sag after the the goal was I loved it. I loved it. Was huge because I think that’s it was a 50/50, right? I could see how the refs might have missed that live, right? And um I think the NHL has been very accurate with these types of calls and um just we were resilient. Whatever happens happens, just just play. If we can get the goal back, great. If not, we take it to OT and we’ve got a great goalender

  1. We need better offensive line entries: playing to much chip n chase. If we can improve our entry into the zones we would get more shots on net don't need to rely on one guy scoring every time.
