[BREAKING] ESPN REACTS: JERRY JONES SHOCKS THE NFL — COWBOYS REPORTEDLY OPEN TO TRADING ALL-PRO

yet. Yes. And we still haven’t talked about the Cowboys. Isn’t that amazing? Cowboys. Oh, you know this they have a contractually obligated to talk about the Cowboys every day even though they defense can’t stop a bloody nose. Oh man. All right. Message received. And by the way, those guys are so good. We now have the Hall of Famer Cowboys legend Troy Aman joining the show. Troy, we’re on the broadcast on Monday Night Cowboys Cardinals. I is Barklay’s analysis right about the Cowboys defense? Well, what he he is right about one thing. I think there is a a contractual obligation for every network to talk about the Cowboys. Uh but yeah, no uh Laura, you know, that the defense has has had a tough go at it and uh coming off a difficult game against Denver and how they’re going to fix it is anybody’s guess. We’re going to we’re going to find out if maybe they got some of it resolved here on Monday night. Yeah, sometimes it can be a little game changer for some people, you know, a little difference in the schedule, things like that. Prime time. Let’s stay on the Cowboys where first year head coach Brian Shottenheimer, he made it clear it’s not just the defense. Let’s listen to what he said needs to improve. None of us have done good enough. That’s that’s real. I mean, our our scorecard is what it is, you know, uh and that’s not just, you know, defensively, that’s offensively. You know, we’re a football team that’s 34 and one. You can take the stats on offense and shove them up as far as I am concerned. I mean, is what it is. We want to win, you know, and people talk about, hey, MVP and this and that. Dak Prescott doesn’t want to win MVP, you know. He wants to win a Super Bowl. Tell him, Shotty. Uh, what do you think of those comments? Well, I think he’s he’s right. Uh, I mean, it is a team effort and and I and I’ve said this. I think that when you look at the Cowboys and how they’ve been built, a a large chunk of the money obviously is on the offensive side of the ball. Now, that’s true for a lot of teams, but maybe a little bit more disproportionate with the Cowboys. And so, you do expect the offense to have to carry more of the load, but you do also expect the defense to do a little bit more than what they’ve been able to do. And I think they’ve tried. Uh Matt Eberfloose has tried to give some different looks to change things up. Uh it worked a couple of weeks ago against Washington. I think a a large part of that was due to the injuries that they had at wide receiver. They were without three of their top guys. Uh didn’t work as well this last week, of course, with Denver, an offense that had been somewhat inconsistent. And now they face a Cardinals offense that has proven to be inconsistent as well. Uh and so I’m sure that Arizona comes into this game feeling like maybe they can get right offensively against the Cowboys defense. But until they prove that they can stop some teams consistently, uh, it’s going to be something that that Brian Shottenheimimer and everyone else is going to have to talk about each and every week. We had the Lions on Monday night a couple weeks back. We we felt like maybe give the game ball to their defensive coordinator, Kelvin Shepard. I mean, they had all these injuries. I did give him the game ball. I don’t know if I don’t know if Dan Campbell did, but I did for what Well, listen, I mean, Troy, your game ball matters a whole a whole lot right now. Well, not really. Not really. Not too much. At least to us. Now JJ McCarthy, he’s going to make his return. Welcome in Mina Kimes to the show. Mina, what do you make of what Shotti just had to say? Mina Mina. Hello. Uh, I think he’s right. Uh, first I’d like to say I I think Brian shots done a fantastic job. You know, this was a coaching hire. A lot of us kind of raised our eyebrows. Didn’t seem like the first choice. And all he’s done is come in and call one of the best offenses in football. He didn’t ask for their best defensive player to be traded before the season starts. So, he’s done everything he can. I think with the personnel at his disposal, Dan and I both agree that he probably needs to be more aggressive moving forward because of the defense being so poor. But, I I do think he deserves credit for how he has led this team, how he has led this offense. Um, and really what this offense has shown us that they’re capable of. I know that they had a bad game. It was one game. This is still a very, very good offense. And unfortunately for him, it doesn’t seem like there’s a trade in the offing that could make the defense even close to what it needs to be. But all they can do is continue to call the best offense or he can call the best offense he can going forward and hope that they can compensate for it on that side of the ball. Yeah, listen, this is a historically bad defense. Historically bad. You can make the case there’s a lot of things that say it’s one of the worst defenses in the NFL over the last 20 years. Okay. Um I think the offense has been really good at times and I think there’s area for growth for this offense. They haven’t been great in the red zone. And let’s be honest, the four losses that they have, they’ve averaged like 21 or 22 points a game in those losses. I understand Mina like he was they were great against the Packers, but they weren’t very good against the Jets. They weren’t very good against the Chicago Bears. They weren’t very good last week. And so there’s been moments where this offense has been exceptional and often against pretty poor defenses. And then there’s been moments where there’s been some left to be desired for their performance. So, when it comes to like the Cowboys and Shotti’s comments, I agree he’s been very impressive. It’s made me ask the question, why hasn’t been calling plays more in in Dallas over the past couple years? But this offense isn’t consistent enough right now for me, this offense isn’t consistently elite enough to overcome a historically poor performing defense. Yeah. No, I I agree 100%. I think what Mina said at the top of this is the most important. Brian Chathammer deserved this job and he’s earned the right to continue to do this job even with this defense playing at the poor level they’re playing at. And then you know we we gave him a hard time when he talked about the difference in Cincinnati last year and Dallas cuz they also had a poor defense last year. You could hang your hat on Joe Burrow playing at that level week in and week out. You could do the same for T. Higgins. You could do the same for Jamar Chase. The ups and downs of the Dallas Cowboys offense is what makes you a little bit skeptical about even if they go out and get a playmaker, which you need more on defense, could this team be good enough to make a run to the playoffs? And I just don’t think they can. The problem that I saw against the Chicago Bears and also against the Denver Broncos though is that sometimes this defense is so poor, they put back and this offense at a dis disadvantage because now you take Javvante Williams out of the play, right? Out of f out of play. You don’t you can’t give him the ball. You can’t consistently run. And to me, that’s when we’ve seen that play. Take a step back. First things first, let’s go. When it comes to Brian Shot, allow me to say this. You know, the man got the job. Obviously, Jerry Jones was received as taking the shortcut or whatever. I can’t believe this, but I’m actually a fan of Brian Sh. I’m actually a fan of him. I mean, I just I just I I genuinely like him, you I when you think about somebody like a Wade Phillips for example, he was a likable guy as your head coach, a good man, you know, which obviously he had obviously had the right pedigree with his dad and all of this other stuff, but at the end of the day, you knew something was missing. You don’t get that whatever is missing from the Dallas Cowboys is because of Brian Shottenheimer. You got that with with, you know, with Jason with Jason Garrett. You did. You just just told what it is. Doing a good job on NBC. Congratulations. Not knocking them. But when he was there, you thought something was missing from the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Yeah. How many times you just going to applaud no matter what’s going wrong with y’all? That ain’t what we seeing from Brian Shottenheimrimer. What we seeing from Brian Shenheimer was some things we saw from Marty Shottenheimr. You understand what I’m saying? I mean, listen, we all know that Marty Shenheimer was a hell of a hell of a coach. Okay, I’m looking at Javvante Williams, second in the league in touchdowns. I’m looking at Ferguson as a top as a top tight end in in in the National Football League. We know what Dak is doing. We know what CD and Pickins can do. We see it and all the pieces are there. I think the greatest thing that you can say about Brian Shanheim is that what do I always say? Don’t let it be you. Don’t let it be you. It ain’t him. It ain’t him right now. It’s not him. But it is that damn defense. And we we we we we going to remind the world that there’s two sides. and threes want to add special teams. There really two sides. It’s defense. 31st in total defense. This is brutal. 31st in scoring defense. 31st in pass defense. Who’s 30? 29th in run defense. Dead last. Number 32 in third down defense. Red zone defense. 28. It’s on you, Jerry. It’s on you, my Libra buddy. My Libra buddy. They’re suing you because you’ve got to do something to have the offensive weapons that they have combined with getting, let’s face it, what we didn’t expect from Brian Shottenheimimer. We don’t see a man as their head coach that’s deficient at his job. Brian Shottenheimr looks very, very capable. This offense looks very, very capable. Now, over getting ready to come back practice this week. You understand? coming back for the first time, you understand? Against the Raiders, that’s the only reason we ain’t called it a by week cuz he actually got out there tackle cuz the Raiders are essentially a by-week. We understand that how horrible they are. Okay, the point is you going to get your boys some help. What are you going to do? It’s not It’s not going to matter. I understand that. But what I’m saying to you, he’s got to try because the deficiency the question I asked you though, if you try, you got to say I made a mistake. Okay, if you can can your le can not you not you. Jerry Jones. I’m saying we working on trying to get him to admit we get there on Monday. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I’m I’m going to see my buddy. I’m going to see my buddy. He’s going to see me on Monday. Look. Oh, we working on them. Like, yo, Jerry, you got to admit you made a mistake. Your boy Stephen A trying to help you. I’m usually not that person for the Cowboys. I’m usually looking to troll them. I’m usually looking to laugh at them. You say, “I want mean. I’m coming to see you Monday, girl. I’ll be there with you. I’m going to be laughing.” You know, I I love laughing at them damn miserable cowboy fans when they I want to see them crying. I want to see the holidays ruined. I’m making an exception. I’m changing a little bit here because I’m like, yo, you got a chance. You got a chance. You got to try to do something because if the Dallas Cowboys are just middle of the road, just middle of the road. Think about the noise they could make. That’s what I’m saying. Quick note, it wasn’t just Micah, which was obviously one of the colossal traits. Sure. Demarcus Lawrence is having a career resurgence up in Seattle. They let him walk. Jordan Lewis is great in Jacksonville. They let him walk. like this defense. You can only ask so much from these players. They aren’t superstars out there. So, we’ll see how it happens. But as we talk Cowboys, before we go, we actually wanted to check in with some of our new colleagues um because they had some thoughts, too. Take a listen. This our second week on ESPN. Yes. And we still haven’t talked about the Cowboys. Isn’t that amazing? Cowboys. No, you know this they have a contractually obligated to talk about the Cowboys every day even though they defense can’t stop a bloody nose. Stay off my team. What? They’re off the Cowboys. Yep. They fit right in. Hey, they’re perfect. They are perfect. They absolutely are. But Chuck and and and and Shaq going to fight over that because you know Chuck will call it like he sees it and and Shaq is a closet Cowboy fan in his own way and stuff like that cuz he’s one of the people that I laugh at when they you know they going down. I had Denzel come on here a few months ago. He like Jerry Jerry called out Jerry Jones in a very volatile fashion. Denzel was very very upset. I’m like he was Alonzo that was Alonzo. My man, my my my man Omar eps I mean another cowboy I hope Allan there’s a whole the Dallas Cowboys are standing at a crossroads and every true fan can feel it in their bones. This isn’t just another week of rumors. This is about legacy, pride, and what comes next for America’s team. Because when you start hearing that the Cowboys might actually move on from Trayvon Diggs, one of the biggest names in our secondary, it shakes you. It stirs something deep inside every member of Cowboys Nation. But maybe, just maybe, this is the kind of bold storm that turns into a spark of redemption. Let’s be real, this season hasn’t gone how any of us expected. The defense that once struck fear into offenses across the league has looked lost, bruised, and at times broken. But what we’re hearing now out of Dallas from sources like Sports Illustrated, NFL Network, and ESPN Insiders is that Jerry Jones and Brian Shortenheimer are not sitting on their hands. They’re looking at every angle, exploring every move. And yes, that includes the possibility of a trade involving Trevon Diggs. And listen, I get it. It sounds wild. Trevon Diggs was supposed to be one of the cornerstones of this defense. He’s been a highlight machine, a ball hawk, a player who electrified the field with game-changing interceptions. But according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, there’s been tension, real tension, between Diggs and the Cowboys front office. It started back in the offseason when he rehabed from knee surgery away from the team and got docked half a million dollars. Then came the benching, the frustration with the defensive scheme, and whispers that he just hasn’t been on the same page with the new leadership since Micah Parsons left. So yeah, this isn’t about talent. This is about chemistry. It’s about who’s buying in and who’s not. Shottenheimer and defensive coordinator Mattflu are trying to reshape this defense from the ground up, not just with stars, but with soldiers who believe in the mission. And that mission is clear. restore Dallas defense to dominance. If that means making hard calls, trading big names, or rebalancing contracts, then so be it. Because this team isn’t interested in paper potential anymore. They’re hunting for real identity. Let’s talk numbers. Diggs is still making $8.5 million this season with his contract set to skyrocket to $20 million in 2028. But here’s the kicker. There’s no guaranteed money after this season. None. That means the Cowboys have the power to move, to reshape, to reset without being financially handcuffed. If Jerry and Stephen Jones play this right, Dallas could open up over $50 million in future cap space. You know what that means? Flexibility, power, and the ability to bring in players who fit this system and this locker room. And make no mistake, there are players who want to be here. Guys like Kenny Clark, George Pickkins, James Houston, they’re fighting, grinding, and showing heart every single week. The Cowboys aren’t quitting on the season. They’re recalibrating. They’re fighting smarter, not just harder. It’s easy to panic when you hear a name like Trayvon Diggs on the trade block. But remember this, every great Cowboys era started with the defining moment when the team chose direction over distraction. when leadership stepped up and said, “We’re not afraid to evolve.” This could be that moment again. Maybe this isn’t about losing digs. Maybe this is about gaining a defense that believes again. A defense that executes, communicates, and plays with fire. Because the one thing Shottenheimimer has made clear, if you’re in Dallas, you play for the star, not for yourself. And that’s what gets me fired up. Because through all the noise, you can feel it. Jerry Jones is not done. He’s watching the deadline closely. He’s got that look in his eye again, and he’s not afraid to pull the trigger if it makes this team better right now. Whether that means trading for Trey Hendrickson, restructuring Diggs, or bringing in another veteran leader, this front office is not coasting through 2025. And Cowboys Nation, that’s what we’ve been asking for. action, not excuses, not press conferences, but bold decisions that show this team still believes it can win. Because let’s be honest, this season isn’t over. The NFC East is still within reach. The wild card is still alive. And if this defense can find its edge again, the Dallas Cowboys can flip the script in November. So, here’s what I say. Don’t panic. Watch. Because what’s happening right now isn’t a breakdown. It’s a rebuild with purpose. Jerry Jones isn’t throwing in the towel. He’s reloading for another shot. And this team still has Warriors who can carry that star with pride. Cowboys Nation, rise up. The noise, the rumors, the headlines, they don’t define us. What defines us is the fight left in this locker room and in every fan watching. Because being a Cowboy means believing even when the world counts you out. So now I want to hear from you. Should the Cowboys move Trevon Diggs and reshape this defense or keep him in the fold and make one more run at redemption? Drop your thoughts below. Hit that like button and subscribe for more raw reactions and real Cowboys talk. Because here on Dallas Game Day, we don’t flinch, we don’t fold, we fight for the star. And this team, this story isn’t finished yet. This is Dallas Game Day signing off and reminding every fan out there that the storm in Dallas isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of something new. And when the smoke clears, the Cowboys will rise. Leave them.

According to new insider reports, Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are open to trading All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs ahead of the NFL trade deadline. After weeks of defensive struggles and locker room tension, could this be the bold move that reignites Dallas’ season?

  1. Diggs is damaged goods in Dallas and holds little appeal across the league. His condition and performance have both declined, and Dallas would be fortunate to get a decent trade return for him.

  2. Diggs gotta go… He's been Butt-Hurt since his homie Parsons left… He need to change his name to "Toast" cuz dude gets Burnt every game!! 🍞🔥🍞🔥🍞🔥🍞 Trade him to Miami for that young guy Jaelen Phillips .. that would help ALOT!!!

  3. I’m watching Diggs like a hawk, he is giving very little effort, runs from contact! He hates the Cowboys and has gave up on them since Jerry let Micha Parsons go, Parsons was his bet friend! TRADE DIGGS ASAP, HE IS NOT TRYING ANYMORE!

  4. This Whole take on Diggs is Trash. All of you Casuals who believe Diggs is washed are Fools. And the Real culprits & their Wack azz DC pick are sitting back laughing @ y'all.

  5. Look, 7-9-1 will end up being the final record. There’s no way the Cowboys make the playoffs with this defense. Are you happy Jerry dismantling your defense? Is last place good enough for you or will you do the offense next. If I was a Cowboy player I would immediately ask to be traded and I’ll even add a clause that says I’ll come back when JJ is no longer the owner.

  6. You know it’s bad when even Steven A feels sorry for the Cowboys due to the scrubs on defense. Trade Diggs and use draft capital to get a disruptive defensive player or 2 but there’s so many holes I don’t know where to start in repairing the D. Sure JJ don’t extend the next Lawrence Taylor and allow all other talent on defense to leave or fold?? SMH SELL THE TEAM JJ!!!!!!!

  7. And don’t ever call the Cowboy’s America’s team anymore cause America is embarrassed even when you put the USA and the Alice Cowboys in the same sentence. We need a new Doomsday D not Alice Cowboy’s trick or treat.

  8. (Cowboys) Just need To make A Few Adjustments Sign a Few Players (S/Justin Simmons, Isaiah Simmons, & Trade for A Big Dawg Edge Rusher/Bradley Chubb, Jermaine Johnson, Riq Woolen(CB), Jaelen Phillips, or(Trey Hendrickson/I'm Doubtful 🤔 about That(1)
