We’ll get bulk of the shot for the Nets. LaMelo first. Yes, just getting warmed up now. Time to switch it up. Had plenty of time on that shot clock. [Music] He knew he had he wants to get that floater falling Thomas with a bucket. Lay up for Thomas. That’s the first choice of the year for Cam. Denied at the rim. Good thing Ryan was there to clean it up. MB1 will try to force his way and take the lead before he gets his first NBA point. Dang, another missed floater. They need to win the momentum shift. He’ll go for a three. Offensive rebound. [Applause] It’s a battle to see who can take the first quarter. He’s about to show his pure speed, strength, and athleticism. The ball ties the game at 22. They can afford some of these misses. With that being said, Melo’s not happy about it. All you need to do is talk to me. At a boy still taking care of business. He’s figured it out. They’ve got the lead now. He’s going to keep his foot on the gas to make sure they don’t blow it. A lot of the tools that you’re just lusting after. Oh, good strong move. And he’s not done with the strong moves. Time to go right at him. Now it’s LaMelo has got bad skill. Now he’s in his bag. Time to kick them while they’re down and walk away laughing. FL. And that, my friend, is how you win game one. And we can’t forget about the assist. Melo was going off. Busy put up six shots already. That’s his first miss. Up to the air. Every single season, there was always leftover untapped potential between LaMelo and Bridges. Melo with any highf flyer is dangerous. Pro. Here comes LaMelo. Brandon. Hence why him and Brandon Miller are a straight problem. With Melo having beat Mill and Miles Bridges, the NBA’s nightly top 10 plays is going to have a problem trying to avoid them. LaMelo Melo is having less and less of a hard time getting past defenders like he did in the past. He’s got a stronger build. So when they double him, it’s just another lob city. Five on the floor. Lao finds Brandon. Melo and Bridges are just a problem as a back court. And that’s in the half court. In the full court on the break, oh, they are seriously dangerous. The lead in the ball of [Applause] LaMelo played 33 minutes and he had 20 points. He took eight three-pointers and made four. 50% not bad at all. Overall, 46.7 was his field goal percentage. He was missing some floaters. And he seemed like in the first half, it just wasn’t falling like it needed to. So, 20 points, eight assist, and two rebounds. He had three turnovers, one steel, zero blocks. It wasn’t his best game, but if these are the kind of bad games he can have, they can put together a good season. Cuz whenever he’s shooting over 40% from the three-point line, they have a good chance of winning. when he’s dropping eight assist, they have a good chance of winning. It was a team win. Multiple people got double digits. Brandon Miller 25 points. I mean, this was a good win for the Hornets, especially game one. But as we look at the heat chart, we can see mid-range is the most place that Melo is lacking. Up close, he started getting those to fall after those floaters were here or there. And then beyond the three, 50%. Some go, some won’t. But, you know, as far as being a threelevel score, a KD type where that mid-range is lethal as well, Melo’s going to have to start hitting that floater from the free throw line. When he first got to the NBA, that was what everybody talked about. Whoa, look how far he’s hitting that floater just inside the three-point right around the free throw. And uh, you know, it wasn’t falling. Hopefully, he gets that going this season. They were having fun out there, you know, high-flying, high-fiving, smiling, enjoying themselves cuz they were playing a good game. um which is a good thing to do. You want to have enjoyment on the court. That’s going to bring more camaraderie and things like that. But these guys got to stay locked in. They got to stay serious. This is only game one. This is only the Brooklyn Nets. And if they have too much of a good time, you know, celebration can take over. And we love to see Melo smile. We love to see the Hornets having a good time. But sometimes that just turns into what looks laxidasical or childish or immature or just not serious about the profession. And honestly, I give LaMelo the biggest pass to do it because that is how LaMelo thrives. That is how he plays. That is when he’s at his best, when he’s having fun. The other guys that are feeding off LaMelo, that’s great. But don’t go too far if that’s not what you been accustomed to your whole life. If you’re having too much fun and you ain’t going to get a job done, then just, you know, put your head down, give a dab and a hug, and get back serious. Really, I would hope one or two of you guys would be serious most of the game cuz you need an enforcer. You need a guy, I’m not going to say you need a Draymond, but you know what I’m saying. You need a type of guy who’s going to come into the scuffle and clear things out if a teammate gets hit. And they need somebody that the opposing team can look at and say, “Okay, watch out for this guy. They’re not playing games.” When they don’t take you serious and they think they can bully you cuz you just playing and laughing all the time, you don’t want it to go that far. But this was a good game. I’m not saying they were too jokey in this game. I’m just saying sometimes I’ve seen in the past where the wind start to stack up with the Hornets and then things get carried away. Now, for all the real LaMelo Ball fans that have been there from the beginning or since when they seen him and they’ve been a fan, get ready for the train to get crowded because everybody’s about to get a ticket and hop on the train right now. And that doesn’t exclude the haters. They’re going to ramp up every year. You know, they want LaMelo’s downfall. They laugh when he gets injured. But everyone knows I’m a man of God.
