THAT’S MY GENERAL MANAGER

  1. He’s corrected his mistakes. Lucky for us he doesn’t believe in sunk cost and said fuck it this offseason

  2. Every year, people shit on him, and every year he pulls off some magic to improve the roster around Giannis

  3. Sort of makes up for the fact that we havent given a first round pick a second contract since Giannis.

  4. I hate how people drag his name. The literal only thing that has any weight is his lack of draft success. But even that take leaves out a lot of the context that we’ve traded away most of our picks and what we’ve kept have all been towards the back end of the first (and second). Those are daft throws. This isn’t the NFL where all first rounders are good. A draft class is considered legendary if 5/10 lottery picks even workout.

And it also completely undermines all he’s done with undrafted guys

  5. I wonder what the spoken deal with GTJ is. I’ve read people here say that they want his full Bird rights and of course they do.

If he has a good season, he can decline his option and they could resign him with early Bird rights for 2 years (1 option year again) and ~13 M (75% raise). And then in 27, at age 28 they can sign him for as much and as long as they want with only apron constraints.

This is great for the team but he would only get security (beyond the 2nd year options) after two full seasons after his re-signing this summer (and 3 years being underpaid). I find it hard to believe an NBA player would do that without something significant waiting for them.

  6. It’s a bizarre world where sports fans celebrate how little their team is paying in salary but it’s the world we live in for better or worse so I suppose a tip O’ the cap to Mr. Horst is in order
