The Minnesota Wild Need A New Coach | Kirill Kaprizov Off Yet AnotherTo Slow Start | Judd’z Budz

I’m just going to lay this out to the state of affairs as we speak. Um through 10 games overall record 35 and two, seventh place in the Central Division. Uh they’re giving up goals left and right. Uh only St. Louis is allowing more per game in their division. Uh who they just got worked over by apparently the greatest team on earth, the Pittsburgh Penguins, who just can’t lose. Um PK is back to the PK that we all know and hate. Um they’re still chipping in goals in the power play, which is all right. Other than that, legitimately not a whole lot of good going on. Um and I’m not used to seeing a Wild team just bleed scoring chances the way that they are. Like so, you know, that look at this game against the Sharks, one of the worst teams in the league. I mean immediately on your heels giving up a couple goals. Shout out Michael Misa uh second overall in the draft last year gets his first NHL because of course he does. Um and obviously again you know eventually Wild fight back and end up having the puck for what was it three and a half minutes almost four minutes of overtime and then Cababrini literally is the only player to change for the Sharks and wins at no T for the 650 OT winner. Um it is just a bit of a [ __ ] show. They’re all over the place. Uh, and I was, you know, I was looking through Russo’s article today as he was talking to Bill Garren about like the trade market and correctly Garrett was just like, I mean, it’s kind of tough when we’re 10 games in, there’s not a whole lot of options going on. Um, this is just like where we’re at. But like I don’t even know how I feel about it because it’s clear obviously that like the top players that you needed to kind of like perform to have this team hold its head above water while you wait for guys like Sturello um any other injuries they [ __ ] picked up along the way. Like the big dogs like Matt Baldi and Capriov still producing but Capriov’s clearly now trying to do too much. Obviously, I think he might maybe he misses Zukarella a little bit here. It’s like some of these turnovers are legitimately out of control. Uh directly through like three guys and some it’s hard it’s hard enough Deacon threw two. I don’t remember which goal it was. Oh, no. It was Michael Mis’s goal last night uh against San Jose where just a throwaway turnover and then the recovery was one of the worst defensive efforts I’ve ever seen in my life from like any any NHL player. It was like legitimately a shocking thing to watch. Um and I mean like you know you don’t really love seeing Marcus Johansson in on your top line, your top six. I mean, scores a couple goals in the power play last couple games. But again, ideally, this is a team that should be pushing for the playoffs this year when I mean, I’m not even going to say when they get healthy because I actually don’t think this team ever will get healthy while I’m still on this earth. Um, but it is just like I’m at a point now where I just don’t know what I’m watching. Yeah. No, this is what it feels like for me. It’s like it’s too early to sound the alarm bells, but like what the [ __ ] else do you do but sound the alarm bells because nothing is working. I mean, I think you kind of have to start getting the alarm bells out and ready to ring if you’re not already ringing them because yes, we’re 10 games in. Um, and I mean I think Garren mentioned to actually and I just saw Browy Browy so sorry if I’m not saying that correctly. I think I think that interview with Garrett was before the Utah game, which I mean he’s only got more confusion going on. He’s already met with the captains. Like we’re getting to the point now where you know Zukarella’s still a few weeks away. So you have not held on like you’ve not held your head above water here while you wait for him to get back. Also, he’s just not going to magically fix the whole roster. Yes, it’s going to it’s sort out probably your your top six forward lines. Um, and you’ll be able to kind of play around with maybe like figure out where exactly to put Terasango, which center to put in between. Probably I’m guessing you’re going to probably see Zukurella back with Capriov or maybe you let that ride with Rossi. I don’t know. Rossy’s been consistently shout out Marco Rossy of course because he’s an angel. Um, but I obviously again they’re still figuring out the forward lines. I think Felino got hurt recently. He’s not like I beat. So now that third line’s up in the air. Um, you’ve had like individual performances from some of the young players, but it feels like the lines are all over the place. There’s no organization. The the scoring chances against are legitimately shocking. Uh, they’re turning pucks over and I at this point I don’t know how to fix the penalty kill. Uh, we’ve had multiple special teams coaches. We’ve had multiple head coaches. We’ve had all kinds of personnel changes. They’ve tried to be more aggressive. They’ve put some skilled players on there. It doesn’t [ __ ] matter. Like, they can’t kill a penalty. And it’s been like years of this to the point where you just have to sit there be like, “What is it?” Like, I like this is legitimately unbelievable. like how it is like impossible to be have this porous of a penalty kill for more than like uh one season and we’re going on what three four five like it is legitimately unbelievable especially like take this season the first 10 games of the season out of the equation for a team who’s like built a lot of its identity who’s like defense plus Capri off last couple years like it is shocking to see how they except for the penalty kill but they cannot kill a [ __ ] penalty and it’s just like you know you get a little bit of momentum last night against San Jose and they take a penalty immediately goes in your net like it’s it is shocking. Um so there’s just so much frustration obviously like the fans are all losing their minds rightfully so because I mean the product is shocking. Hines at at this point is he on the hot seat? I don’t think so. Probably not yet. I mean like you have to wonder if Bill Garren’s ever going to be on the hot seat with Craig Leopold. I don’t know. Uh, would hiring another co coach put you on the hot seat? Because like that’s thing with that’s why typically GMs hold on to their coaches. I know they’re easily disposable, but like a little bit anyways because if you go through three of them, that’s a bad reflection on the GM as well as obviously the coaches. But as soon as the coach is gone, the coach is gone. You move on. Um, right. And I mean I well and Z a lot of the fan base saw this saw it work when you know they moved on from Dean they brought in Hines and oh look he kind of turned it around. So maybe a lot of people were like we want to see that right now because it kind of worked last time but with who? Is it going to work again? Is this just a really large speed bump again? We’re we’re nearing that uh that I was just going to say that American Thanksgiving Bob Bob Bob Bob McKenzie tier where it’s like if you’re still [ __ ] around then if you’re still bottom of the barrel like unless you’re one ina million St. Louis Blues Cinderella story like you’re not making the playoffs right and I mean it’s it’s tough too like again obviously guys like the Serb and Matt Sugell coming back in the lineup when they’re healthy and ready to go it’s going to help you a little bit. It’s just going to help organize like figure out who’s going to play with who, but like you you you didn’t bank enough points to like wait for that. And yet obviously there’s no trades that are going to be made. Like they have no interest clearly in like really letting these like young players like Ogrren get shots at the top of the lineup. They don’t like apparently they’re just not interested in doing that. Um, so I think that’s the problem where I’m just like on one hand you look at the play, the overall play, how many scoring chances they give up at five on five. Uh, the first like what, six, seven, eight games, completely absent five on five scoring. Um, and I mean like you can look how many goals they’re giving up like what are the goenders up to? They’re eating like high d high danger chips left and right. They can’t stay out of the penalty box. Like I don’t You know, again, like you maybe you want some of these goals back obviously, but I’m not looking at the goalending. Like I just like I can’t believe how poorest like defensive core is as well. Like they haven’t like at what so far the most consistent defenseman probably been Zach McGoan who’s also injured outside of that maybe Spurgeon. Um, you know, and when that when you’ve got like when you have to rely on Jared Spurgeon playing like 25 plus minutes a night because he’s the only defenseman that’s like in form like you don’t really afford guys like year and we have the opportunity to play through some mistakes. Like it’s kind of a recipe for dis for disaster for those young guys too. So we’re seeing tons of mistakes obviously from Boom and Year. I’m still on the like let them work through it chain. Um, but at the same time, maybe Zeve needs some time in Iowa. I’m not totally there though, to be honest with you. I still want him to play through it. Um, honestly, I think we all expected I don’t know what the pairs are supposed to be. Yeah, with Zeve quickly. Like, we all expected there to be defensive WS. We all expected there to be turnovers, him getting, you know, a little ahead of himself and sometimes cheating a bit offensively. What we didn’t bank on was that the team was going to be this bad were those glaring mistakes were going to sink the team in games as much as they have been, right? Because a mistake or two with growing pains when you’re scoring and he’s still getting, you know, almost point per game or what is he now? Yeah, just under point per game. You know, those are those growing pains are easier to overlook, but when it when the season is what it is right now and they’re digging themselves a hole every single night, those mistakes are a lot bigger. Mhm. Yeah. And I mean, you know, the combination of both Faber and Middleton being legitimately like horrendous out of the gate is just killing them too. Faber, they just have him, they put him on that second power play unit last night, let him rely or play most of his minutes of five, almost all of his minutes of five on five. And I think that went a long way of just like, “Hey, settle down. Stop trying to do too much. Play to play your defensive game that you know how to play.” And like again, it’s just like kind of like all these guys it feels like are just trying to do so much and almost overthinking. Um because some of the turnovers are just shocking. But I like again I thought Faber was his first good game last night and the poor kid of course he’s on the ice takes the shot. I think he either got deflected or it was a save for Celebrity to jump on and immediately score an OT to win it. So like of course he has to eat that dash like there was his first solid game last night. Uh and it’s still like well doesn’t really matter. They lost [ __ ] 65. It’s unbelievable. I know his teammates or whoever was talking to the media last night um was I had like just the radio on Kan or whatever and they were saying that he’s obviously been super hard on himself and I think it’s easy to see that he’s frustrated which I I like to see that you know he’s not apathetic or he’s not woe is me like he’s pissed and he wants to there’s a fire you know ignited there. Um, and then even after last game, apparently he was still throwing a fit. And the players are like, we actually went up to him like, “Hey man, like you like inspired us tonight. Like stop putting yourself down. Like you you’re still like trying out there like harder than any of us. So like basically like shut the [ __ ] up. You had a great game. We got to do better.” So I hope it doesn’t go overboard where he just like continues to like lose confidence even putting up the the points that he did. I hope it go I hope like some of the other guys are like like answer and go okay like we gota we got to play harder because he’s beating himself up and he’s trying his hardest out there even though he’s not playing the best. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. So, I mean, it’s just some it feels like the players that you really needed to like just at least play as well as we know they can or at least just be like good enough to kind of like let them ride through the injury waves and like it’s just not happening. Um, you know, at what point are we going to see Damon Hunt in the lineup if throw him on that third pair? I mean, I would be shocked if he steps in maybe for like a year check. I don’t know. Um, do they want to send Bam to Iowa? Again, I think I’m not with I’m not for sending Zeve to Iowa. I think again, same like similar idea with favorites. Like if you can ask him to do less maybe. I don’t know. It’s just like you could like take your pick of any of these guys. No, I know. Like you could literally go down the lineup and pretty much it Baldi aside, you could really just pick apart and of course Marcus Johansson, the Lord and Savior. We could probably just pick apart everybody. Yeah. I don’t know, man. It is like, boy, it is. Is Pete D’vor a sweep stakes guy? Oh, Jesus Christ. Um, no, they just need Tors for two years, man. Let’s go, baby. Tors will get him to the third to the Yeah, third round. Past the second round to third round and on. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, there you go. That’ll do wonders. That should do it. That should do it. I mean, that’s a Billy Garren type coach right there, eh? Yeah, we’ll see what the next few games look like here. what the lineup looks like. But I mean, they want this was a critical this is I mean they’re two games into the six game homestead. It’s a critical six games to come out. Oh, you like they kind of have to win these four. Like at the very least you have to be three and three, but like realistically you’re 0 and2 the first two games. You got one point out of it. Whatever. I guess you’re what are you one or 01 and one I guess whatever. I mean you got to come out at least 500 off this point. A point does nothing for the boys confidence, right? That does nothing for their confidence. Brutal to watch how often like they just like how often every team playing against them this year has had the puck in their zone and then even when they get it, even when they get a rebound, immediately turn it back over. Man, this is insane. Let’s be honest, other than like the Penguins who’ve been buzzing, like it’s a it’s a winnable it’s a winnable three games. It’s a winnable four games, right? And I guess I think that’s too like that was one of the things that when I was reading Russo’s article that I was like I can understand where what Hines or not Hines uh Gar was saying too where it’s like it’s also you look at the mistakes that are being made, they are correctable, they are fixable and a lot of it it does seem to just be like hey [ __ ] settle down. Stop trying to do too much and just small plays like these Capri off turnovers can’t continue. Like if he’s going to throw like backhand saws at up the middle in his own zone and then just like straight leg get burned on the recovery. That’s not going to work. That’s very that’s like very fixible. It’s like hey man cut that [ __ ] [ __ ] out. Uh I don’t know. Just go tape to tape. Let’s go. Like you know but I don’t know. A lot of the mistakes are fixable. So, I’m not like I am close to hitting the panic button just because it’s so uncharacteristic to see a wild team just like bleed scoring chances like this. Uh same time like we’ve seen these players all not do the [ __ ] that they’re doing and like I have a hard time believing that like Middleton and Favor and your Jagger have 82 games of like this level of hockey. Again, like that last game from Favor was encouraging obviously. Um, and I mean, you look at the goalending, I can’t blame them for like basically just getting shelled for 60 minutes. So, um, I’m like hovering over the panic button just because it’s, you know, about to be November and they’ve like had one or two games like, all right, you felt good about that effort, but then they immediately bring you right back down to earth uh, next game. though. Um, so I don’t know any other anything else wild related just as far as where they’re at right now that we should touch on. Um, I don’t know. But hey, also though, shout out Capriov though, 400 NHL points. Uh, even though like I can’t come away from that game like, yo, what the [ __ ] were those turnovers? You know, let’s uh let’s let’s give him a banner. Let’s try to sell some tickets. [Music]

  1. This team has a much bigger problem, it's called Craig Leipold. I never hear any of the beat writters, Russo or anyone else address this. Craig Leipolds record as an owner the past 17 years is horrible: missed the playoffs 6 times, won the first round 2 times in seventeen years and never made it past the 2nd round! An owner can spend all the money they have, however if they have no hockey mind it doesn't matter! Plain and simple Leipold does not have a hockey mind to bring on the right scouts, management and coaches to compete for a Stanley Cup in Minnesota or anywhere else. He's the elephant in the room. His past ownership record of 17 years proves this! Same results in Nashville, never won a playoff round in 10 years of ownership. He runs a fantastic business taking money from the fans and making the playoffs just enough to keep the fans hopes alive. Nothing will ever change until the fans quit showing up and fire Craig Leipold by forcing him to sell.

  2. So fire Hynes and then what, just embrace the rebuild?
I'm ok with that but if you embrace the rebuild you HAVE TO trade Brodin, Spurgeon, Foligno, and Hartman then let Lambos Hunt Haight and Oghren take thier places = 25 wins and top 3 pick
