New York Islanders Postgame Availability | (10/30/25)

Well, first we dug ourselves a hole in the first. Um, thought we started to come on better in the later half and in and the second and we were trying to claw ourselves back and then I don’t know, we just weren’t able to to sustain anything. Why wasn’t the energy there at the start? I don’t know. I I think we just turned a few pucks over and we got on our heels and we know in this building that uh once they start coming um they put the pressure on and you know there was a couple turnovers uh led to goals and all of a sudden we’re on our heels. Obviously turnovers have been kind of a recurring issue just how do you fix that? I think we just got to make better decisions at time have more poise with the puck. I feel like at times we’re throwing it away when we don’t need to. Um, we have to help each other out, be open for each other, give a guy an option, talk to each other, help each other out, just make a play. Is there enough communication going on out there? I think there’s never really enough. I think it’s that’s something that you can always get better at. I think that’s something that you can help your teammates with. Um, be sometimes guys can you can’t see the whole ice at a time and help each other out, talk to each other. And I think that’s an area that we can be a lot better. How did Vermonov look to you in his return? I thought he played a great game tonight actually. He was physical. He was skating. I thought uh thought he was great. It’s a tight turn for tomorrow. How do you turn the page and get ready for uh Washington? Well, we need to regroup. We can’t uh we can’t sleep on this and and dwell on it. We got to, you know, forget about it. take the stuff we did well, learn from the mistakes we made, and and tomorrow’s biggest game we played all year. I got better. Um I think, you know, our team got better, but I think, you know, we uh we got a lot better than that. And uh I think, you know, the start started off, we didn’t start off the best and then, uh we try to fight back, you know, through throughout the game, but uh um I think our team got better, but I think, you know, I also, you know, got better and we can uh you know, clean up on a lot of mistakes. Um, you know, and I mean, we got a game in less than 24 hours, so uh, put this one in the past, learn from it, and then, uh, worry about tomorrow’s game. Seemed like they were being, uh, pretty physical with you. Just what did you make of your of your night? Yeah, I mean, I think that’s like every team. I mean, every team’s going to hit, every team’s going to do stuff. I mean, there’s always going to be, you know, hard battles. I mean, the puck could be not bouncing your way, but I mean, you just got to you got to try to find it. Um, I mean, I got better than that. Um, so yeah, I mean we’ll uh learn from it and uh we’ll worry about tomorrow’s game. When Homer scores that goal gets you within 42, you know, maybe gives you a little bit of hope. How demoralizing is it to give one right back 11 seconds late? Yeah, I mean like I said, I mean, you never want to do that. Um I mean, you you want to get that momentum and use it and uh you know you know try to you know do a push um back to try to get the lead. So, uh, yeah, I mean obviously, um, you never want to, you know, let that happen.

Hear from Ryan Pulock and Matthew Schaefer following tonight’s game in Carolina.
