What Does the Future Hold For Superstar Pitcher Paul Skenes?

map out the next two to three years for Paul Skins. We see in the NBA, in the NFL, players will use their uh equity to force their way out of situations. Jame Harden most famously, Paul Skins is the rare baseball player who could make a serious problem for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Uh if he wants to, and my god, where his situation is now, why wouldn’t you want to? where if he went to the Pirates this winter and said to them, “I’m not signing here long-term. I’m going to be a problem. I’m going to talk out loud about how you guys don’t spend and you don’t try to win. You need to get me out of here.” And I kind of hope as a baseball fan that he does. What do you think he’s going to do? What’s his makeup like? Do you think he’ll do that? It would be against his nature to do that because he’s pretty much one of those guys who puts his head down and does the work and he’s dominates, but he also because he’s incredibly competitive. You assume at some point that’s going to bubble up and he’s going to be like, “Look, we don’t have a chance to win here. I want to be out of here.” And my god, if it came out that the Pirates were willing to take offers for Paul SK, all these teams would basically be backing up their prospect trucks and saying, “Whatever you

  1. I love when really good players call out their teams for being cheap and not wanting to win, just wanting to sell merch.

I wish Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase would be more critical of Cincy ownership, too.

  2. Rich, you should be ashamed for allowing this clown, Buster, to spout such nonsense that is obviously just talking points on behalf of his agent buddies who feed him rumours and "breaking news." Paul Skenes is not a POS; he would never march into Bob Nutting's office to make such demands. And while, as a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, I wholeheartedly agree that Bob Nutting is a joke of an owner, what does it gain by having a player "demand" he spend more? Teams like the Pirates, Reds, Rays, cannot compete with the Dodgers, Yankees, Blue Jays, Phillies, etc, – on a regular basis – until MLB fixes its system and demands a cap and a floor. Say the Pirates spend $20-$30 mil more on payroll to be close to what the Brewers spend. You are saying the best they can do is be the Brewers who get destroyed in the NLCS? Or hey, maybe if they are lucky like the Dbacks were in 2023, they go on a run to the WS? Buster is a joke for saying this. Buster should be advocating for a system that allows a team like the Pirates to keep a player like Skenes, rather than asking that he be traded.
