49ers REACTION: Brock Purdy good news | Keion White trade arrival | Ricky Pearsall update

It is a busy day here at the 49ers facility. Brock Birdie approaching his return playing catch with M. Jones at the start of the practice session and then joining just a little bit late because he had a rush over across country from Boston, Keon White. Take a look at this. Keon shaking hands with his new teammates with Chris Cacerk meeting those guys for the first time right before he takes his first rep with the 49ers. So, the team remains under construction. Fitting that Levi Stadium remains under construction as well. They’re lifting the new stadium sign onto the facade of this building. Walked by the stadium sign. It is much much bigger than you think it is. I also walked right by Keon White. He is much bigger than you think he might be. 6’5, 285 lbs. Can rush from the inside. 49ers certainly excited about their new trade acquisition. But first, we got to go through the news of practice. This is Kyle Shanahan on Brock Perie’s potential availability Sunday against the New York Giants. That he feels confident he’s ready to go based off how his toe feels. I mean, um I mean, he’s going to look that way most likely getting out there and he’s not going to he gets out there and he’s hobbling around and stuff, he won’t be out there. So, he’s got to go out there and go through the practices and stuff and really um let us know how good he feels because it’s hard to know what’s going on with the toe and the really iffy things and something, you know, last time we felt like he was feeling pretty good, looked pretty good in practice. And then in the game, one hit and set set him back five or six weeks, whatever this has been, four weeks. Um so, it’s kind of a sensitive situation and hopefully um getting some reps in practice and stuff will give him that confidence that it’s better than it was last time. No Ricky Piol at practice for the 49ers today. He was working off on the side again seems to be running and and moving at a good speed. So the knee injury that has now kept them sidelined for about a month continues to be troublesome. We’ll see if Ricky can get out there a little bit later this week. There’s so much talk right now about Jawan Jennings being potential tradem for the 49ers. Here’s what Kyle Shanahan had to say in response to a question about Jawan Jennings being potentially traded. I would feel I’d be very surprised if Jawan wasn’t on our team throughout this year. Now, Kyle Shanahan didn’t firmly rule anything out. He just said he’d be very surprised if Jennings wasn’t on the team. So, we have to keep that thought in consideration because Jennings is on an expiring contract. We know that there was an unpleasant situation leading up to the increase of incentives in his deal entering this 2025 season. And we also know that the 49ers remain on the market for a bigger name edge rusher. Maybe somebody like Trey Hendrickson. I have also talked about Miles Murphy from the Cincinnati Bengals, Will McDonald IVth of the Jets, and Bradley Chub of the Dolphins, Kavon Tibido of the team that they’re about to play, the New York Giants. So right now a lot is up in the air for the 49ers as they enter this game at 5 and three. But I will say that since Ricky Persol is not yet back at practice, since Brandon Iayuk is not yet back at practice, Jawan Jennings plays an integral role for this football team. Kyle Shanahan acknowledged that he’s been compromised by injury. Jennings shared that he had the five broken ribs a couple weeks ago, but he is improving healthwise. And until Pierol and Iuk are back, it’s hard to envision Jawan Jennings not playing a very very integral role for this football team. Not just catching the ball, but also as a run blocker. Also not at practice today, Alfred Collins. So we know that Collins got hurt during the game on Sunday, but he still played the most snaps out of any 49ers defensive lineman. It was a careerhigh in snaps. the fact that he’s not out of practice today, we’re going to have to monitor that over the course of the week because that would be yet another injury to deal with on Sunday for the defensive line and obviously that room is already beaten up. That’s why they had to make the emergency trade for Keon White and why Clean Ferrell is also in the building. But we talked to Cleland today. He had a a great quote because he used to be with this football team back in 2023. Was actually a very stable edge setting presence. He was sorely missed during the playoffs after he got hurt in week 18. Here’s how Cleveland felt about being back in the 49ers building. It’s just for me it’s uh when I first came here it was about I felt like it felt like home. So for me it was kind of just coming back home and uh it’s it’s a lot of new people in the house but you know the cook is still the same. So it’s real good. No D Winters at practice. also dealing with a knee injury for the 49ers and no Utur Gross Mats still dealing with the hamstring. You know, Utur Gross Mats and the new guy Keon White there there’s a lot in common between those two players. I was able to talk to Trent Williams in the locker room and you know the YGM Keon White comparisons are obvious just because they’re both outside in players. You want them rushing on the inside on top of setting the edge on the outside. But I I wanted to ask Trent about what he thought regarding my Charles Amenu keon white comp. And he liked a lot about it and he also verified what we had talked about this morning that there’s a little bit more suddenness and explosive power in Keon White’s game. Whereas Charles Amen slightly lighter longer arms 36 in arms. Charles Amenu was more of a length to power guy. Kon White is going to be more of a robust short area power kind of player. So, there’s going to be a little bit more violence with some of the hand rips on the inside from Keon White. Now, this is really, really interesting. We dug this up with the help of Mike. Before the 49ers played the New England Patriots last year, Kyle Shanahan singled out number 99. That was Keon White’s old number with New England. And he said this, “No, he’s a hell of a player. This is the first time I’ve been able to really watch him this year. Uh he’s great on the outside, sets the edge as well. And him as a rusher on the inside, too, is just as scary. So, he’s a hell of a player. There was already a lot of respect for Keon White before the 49ers had had even played him last year. That’s how much this guy was popping off the tape early in 2024 for New England. They changed coaching staffs. They changed schemes. They had him pigeonhold as an edge rusher, especially here in 2025. It wasn’t working out for Keon White. So, they traded him. It’s a a situation I think is going to be better for this player. Now, Trent Williams, very impressed with him. Kyle Yushek, very impressed with him. There’s a clip of Keon White just destroying Aaron Banks back when Aaron was still with the 49ers in week four of that 2024 season with a rip/swim move and then just leveling Brock Pury. It was really, really violent, impressive stuff. White has bragged about his violence before and well, I mean, you saw the 49ers greeting him right before he went through the drill line with San Francisco. They’re happy to have him. They need some capable bodies in that Dline room. All right, so big return for the 49ers today at practice. Ben Barch, Kyle Shanahan thinks that Bart has a good chance to play. He obviously has to get through practice this week, but you know, so many people crying about the 49ers offensive line. They actually have two tackles playing well above league average in Trent Williams and Colton McKivvitz. I think people are misdiagnosing what has actually been wrong with San Francisco’s offensive line and uh in doing that uh they’re not putting enough attention on the fact that Connor Colby has really struggled at the left guard position and he’s a seventh round rookie. So of course he struggled at the left guard position trying to fill in for Ben Bart who’s been out with that high ankle sprain. They need their veteran back. That has been the weakest spot of this 49ers line. And I think that Bartch uh if he can play this week, that could be a huge huge boost for the 49ers against the Giants. Because New York, as bad as the numbers have been defensively, they gave up those two 100yard rushers last week. We have been talking a lot about Kavon Thibido and the Giants potentially trading him. It probably would be a very pricey trade and at this point they don’t seem to be particularly interested. But if you’ve got Kavon Thibido on your defensive line, if you got Abdul Carter on your defensive line, they’ve got other dudes up there, too. At any given moment, you could really, really throw a wrench and a protection plan and disrupt a game. So, that was on Christian McCaffry’s mind when he was talking about this New York Giants front. They’re a hell of a defense, I think. And you look at their front, you look at, uh, you know, the way they fly the ball, the way they play well, they had a lot of potential at all, you know, every play to wreak havoc. So, uh, you know, it’ll be our job to to do what we got to do to make sure we’re straining on every play and, um, you know, get it rolling. So, the 49ers absolutely must respect this opponent heading into this game. They have not been world beaters offensively, the 49ers. That’s obvious. They’ve been playing with QB2. Last week was really tough playing against the number one defense. On paper, this should be easier against the Giants, but these guys still have pass rushers, and the 49ers have to be on their P’s and Q’s entering this game in the Meadowlands. A lot of great 49ers Giants games on both coasts at the Meadowlands where New York has typically had the advantage. And well, the Giants have had the 49ers number a candlestick as well, but a lot of 49ers triumphs and what was an awesome rivalry in the 1980s. the Bill Parcels’s Giants against the Bill Walsh 49ers move into the George Seafford 49ers. So, we’re going to get to revisit that classic New York San Francisco rivalry. Who’s excited for Finerities? That that the bar Finerities is back in New York. You know, when I made my Joan Jennings video when he had uh returned to practice for the 49ers right around Labor Day, I was infinities. That was a really, really fun one to do. And maybe we’ll get to do some more video content from the premier San Francisco bar in New York right across from the Empire State Building. It’s going to be a fun fun weekend in the Big Apple. And as I’ve been joking, maybe not joking, maybe I’ve been saying it in all seriousness, 49ers might come back with an edge rusher on the plane. Kavon Tibido, come on over. Will McDonald, I know you’re a Jet, so you’re not with the Giants, so you can come on over. Where are the Jets this weekend? They must not be in New York. They must be playing elsewhere. Also, another return to practice or two of them today. Sam Okawanu and Jordan Elliot. Limited participants. So, both with with ankle issues. Both of them exited the game for the 49ers on Sunday in Houston, but they are both back for the 49ers. Now, we all are waiting to see where this Brock Pury situation takes us this next week. As you heard from Kyle Shanahan’s answer earlier, it was a setup where the 49ers thought that he’d be okay for that game against Jacksonville, he was less hurt than M. Jones that week and they hoped for the best when they put him out there against the Jags because he felt good in practice and then one hit and and it set him back a few weeks. They are definitely playing the longer game now. The formula for this team is clear. Elite offense combined with passable defense. They’re trying to make some trades to make that defense passable and pair it with a special teams unit that’s been good, but but that elite offense part of that equation relies on Brock Pury getting back out there. I think a lot of it’s relying on Ben Bar getting back out there as well. And then next week we’re going to talk more about Brandon Aayuk and you know, maybe even this week we could talk a little bit more about Ricky Pieraw. We’ll see what happens at practice on Thursday, but obviously that has played out a little bit more slowly than the 49ers would have hoped. Now, I should also clarify that Sam Okawanu was not out at practice during the open viewing window, but Kyle Shanahan before practice did say that he would be limited during the session. So, we will see with Sam O. It’s one of those situations that is very surprising to me that it’s developed to the point where where it could be available for the 49ers this week because he was carded off during the loss to the Houston Texans last week. Anyway, this is going to be a very very fun 6 days ahead of the November 4th trade deadline. The 49ers are keeping their eyes on Hendrickson. We’ve talked about that. That is real. Hendrickson uh this year for the Bengals has dealt with that hip issue and and the Bengals could be falling to three and six. So far they have been not been interested in engaging for trades, but a wise man told me today that they could just be posturing until right before the trade deadline to try to get a better price out of prospective suitors. Makes a lot of sense for the Bengals to want to move on from somebody doesn’t want to be there. Did not agree to a contract extension. is going to hit free agency and Cincinnati is not going to win a Super Bowl this year. That’s for sure. A team might be falling to three and six. They are underdogs against the Chicago Bears. But a whole lot of other opportunities might pop up for the 49ers who obviously are already busy on the trade market. As you can see, the frenetic pace of life in the NFL. Keon White rushing over from Boston. I wonder if he took the 6 a.m. flight on United today. shaking hands with his teammates and then getting down in the three-point stance to start a drill about 15 seconds later. Wild, wild times indeed. White Pretty the 49ers going to have both of those guys in uniform ready to play for them on Sunday. We’ll see. Couple more practices before the 49ers take off for New York. I said I just love playing with this team, man. It’s just, you know, to go out there every day and see guys, you know, K juice M 10 out here. Even I when I saw Dro after catching that pass, man, it just, you know, inspires him cuz we got a lot of guys on this team who uh want to contribute and can contribute and just good players that make it want to come.

  1. Seriously, I know our Jauan Jennings – the red hair , the sticky hands and the out of world funny personality will be back to himself this weekend. Let’s go Jj

  2. If we gettin' Trey Hendrickson, Ain't no way JJ is being traded… Cincinnati has Jamarr Chase & Dee Higgins, they really don't have a beed to improve their offense even more. Joe Flacco couldn't use them all anyway. Too "slow" Joe needs more than Juaun.

  3. It makes zero sense for a team trading a star DE to the Niners to want Jennings in return. The team trading with the Niners are sellers, thus not expecting to win now, so why would they want Jennings for a lame duck year instead of useful compensation moving forward? The only way I see a one for one type of trade is if Jennings and his agent bang out a deal with the new team ahead of the trade being finalized.

  4. should be clear by now Pearsall had a serious injury to his knee. people on here blaming the medical staff or team conditioning when a player gets rolled up on by a pile of 250 lbs linemen or goes 6ft in the air for a catch and comes down parallel to the ground on his shoulder or knee. grass or turf the surface is as hard as concrete there is no give. people should put some padding on themselves and try leaping in the air and landing your living room carpet and see if you dont end up with crutches or in a cast. there is no conditioning for that stuff. you either sell out to make the catch putting you body harm's way in vulnerable position or play it safe and dont fully extend for circus catches. These receivers only know one way to play and it comes at a cost. that is part of the system

  5. Looking forward to this weekend – flying over from Sydney Australia for work and going to my first ever NFL game – no idea what to expect, but I hope the 49ers can get it done.

  6. 🤣🤣🤣Juan concussion Jennings 🤣🤣🤣wants more money cause he's a big Dwang like Deboo and Brandon 😂😂 Juan who? Without Deboo Juan Jennings just a second string player😂😂

  7. Have anyone realized that Brock Purdy is only Mr irrelevant. Let's think about contract of Brock Purdy. $54 million guaranteed next year for Brock who's been injured every year.

  8. If Pearsall can’t even step on the practice field for a limited session after a month off from a minor sprain, it’s time to start looking at shipping him out. Unless there’s been a change to his initial diagnosis that’s been hidden, he was expected 2-3 weeks out from when he got hurt. They’ve admitted he’s behind before practice LAST week. Are reporters too afraid to push Kyle on that situation or what?

  9. There both shit QBs soon as Purdy comes back he’ll throw another 2-3 ints & say my toe hurts, horrible contract the 49ers should have waited n got a real QB now there screw for atleast 4-5 years.
