I want to hear how this conversation would go today because the five year plan not working in my eyes. Losing 8 of our last 9 is not acceptable for the Wild and we booted Dean Evason for this type of performance and I liked Dean. Never been a fan of Hynes and still am not. I don’t believe he has control of the locker room and his interviews show it.

  1. A leader not following through with their stated plans? In this economy? You should see my shocked face.

  2. I doubt anyone is happy with this situation. Realistically, the brain trust thought that they would be able to go and make some additions in free agency this summer. The rising cap had just about every notable player sign extensions. After looking at what was out there, we got a 4th liner, who proceeded to immediately get injured and Tarsenko for a bag of used jock straps.

BG was likely just hoping to hang around .500 until the trade deadline, and then make some moves. With how this season has started, he’s likely kicking himself for all those NMC’s, because this team looks like it should be a seller at the TD.

Guerin is probably on a warm seat, but will get the season. Hynes, better be dusting off his CV

  3. People will fall on a sword for BG though. For no reason and even though he hasn’t done anything.

  4. Dean didn’t last because there was some sort of falling out between him and Billy. BG mentioned it in his chicklets interview a few weeks ago. He didn’t go down to the locker/coaches room for most of a season. He also said now that he has John he does go down there again. I’m not describing it well but you should listen to the segment.

  5. Hate to break it to you.

There was never a “five year plan”

It was all BS talk from CL

  6. BG has been a mixed bag. He’s made some good trades in the offseason. Drafting has been improved but player development outside of KK and Boldy has been garbage. BG is too much of a players GM and hands out overvalued contracts and NMCs like candy. His strategy of building a winning team by focusing on the bottom six is pretty crazy. The Middleton, Hartman, Foligno, and Zucc contracts look below average individually but terrible as a whole. Winning teams are built by overspending on top 6/top 4 and finding bargain support. BG is trying to attempt the opposite.

His coaching and staffing hires are definitely country club/old boys network vibes. Hynes has proven that he is not a good coach. Teams generally improve when he leaves. So if you want to attempt to get into the playoffs this year, fire Hynes. If you want to enter the McKenna sweepstakes, keep him.

  7. It’s unrealistic to expect both a 19th overall pick and a 24th overall pick to become legit top 6 forwards. Just one would be great drafting.

  8. BG keeps signaling that he wants to make this team “big and gritty”, but the product on the ice is just big and slow.  At least if they were laying down some bodies and bringing the lumber they would be entertaining to watch.

I know this is beating a dead horst but, I am still at a loss for why we traded Marat Khusnutdinoz for a rental of Justine Brazeau.

For more on Marat, check out is OT winner from last night, start playing at 8:43:

  9. Not pulling the trigger on guys like Peterka and Cozens has been a problem as well. There have been guys available who could have given this team a good boost and he just chickens out and falls back into a cozy veteran way past his prime for cheaper. What is the point of a prospect pool if you won’t play them or trade them for people who will play?
