We've heard some names being thrown about like Arden Key, Calvin Ridley, Dre'Mont Jones, and I've even seen T'Vondre Sweat come up. However, as of late, there's someone I'm thinking of that's not getting as much attention: Tony Pollard.
First off, let's start with how he's doing so far. Currently, Pollard is turning in a career worst for yards per carry at 3.9 and a career high in lost fumbles with his longest run at a paltry 21 yards (his second lowest was 31 in 2023, when he was recovering from an injury). He's on pace for 901 rushing yards this season, his lowest since taking over from Zeke
Next, we need to get into what we're paying him in 2026. Currently, SpotRac has his cap hit at 9.25 million dollars with a 2 million dollar cap hit if he's cut. Cap space is not a problem, as we lead in that for 2026 before other moves are made (e.g. cutting Sneed, Ridley, and others). Do we want to spend our cap space on a 29 year old running back who's seeing a decline from three 1k rushing yard seasons. This is despite upgrades made at the bookends, between Moore settling in on the blindside and Latham getting back up to speed.
Has Pollard been used improperly? Sure, half back dives and runs up the gut with him on first down drove me up a wall. Nonetheless, I think we can replace his production, especially considering our 32nd ranked run game and putting the finishing touches on offensive line. Despite this, he's still good enough to get us a Day 3 pick in the draft, where we've done pretty well for ourselves (Gray, Dike, Ayomanor).

I hate this franchise. That’s all.
I haven’t watched the games but I feel he’s been used wrong and we’re so behind all the games, he’s just not being used as a running back.
Meh, why? For a 6th round pick who probably isn’t going to make the team?
Keep him, draft a replacement next year
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he’s cut, but idk anyone who has looked at him over the last two years and though “we should definitely trade for him” I’d love to be wrong though.
Moving on, I’d bet we do some combination of starting Spears/drafting a rb/signing a fa
There is heavy speculation that Pollard might be moved. Think he’s the backup plan if the Jets’ asking price for Breece Hall is too high
Doubt there’s a huge market for him, would be him and pick swap, like the rest have been. He’s been very non-explosive this year, yes a lot of playcalling was bad, but the second Tyjae gets healthy he’s already busting better runs and making people miss way more often. Pollard is a good back, but he’s kinda just that. And the difference in a good back and an average/slightly below average back is small enough that we should for sure try to trade him. We can match his impact, if not his production, and more picks the better. Just a matter of if anyone would want to give up capital for him.
Nah man. We’re rebuilding. Everybody knows you gotta sell your young guys in a rebuild.
I could see a playoff caliber team that maybe needs some help at running back making a move for him. Doubt he’s the top trade target but a team like the Chiefs or Chargers if they miss out on Breece Hall?
We’ve really hit a low point lol
