AK knows what he’s doing and how to evaluate talent, he is the guy that found Jokic after all. Also, you could say Buzelis fell to him but he also fell to 12 other teams and they passed. Giddey for Caruso was a steal even when everyone and their mommas were mocking him. The problem was always Zach and Demar and their iso heavy offense and negative defense, Sacramento is a sinking ship with them at the wheel right now.
How does one define young core? I wouldn’t say the Bulls have that, the “moneyball” description fits this project more. But yeah that was some stumbling into success, there’s no way AKME got Jones, Huerter, and Collins and thought, yeah these guys are all gonna fit whatever system we have.

Jerry is a cheap fuck and has been for decades. AKME tried to get a bunch of borderline stars on cheap deals and it failed so now he’s basically going “fuck it if Moneyball got the As into the post-season, maybe it will work with the Bulls.”
It’s basically the same situation. The ownership is too cheap to pay the money needed to get a true star so you create the star in the aggregate and win through depth.
