Vikings TRADING T.J. Hockenson? | Minnesota Vikings Rumors
[Music] What’s going on everybody? Welcome in the Vikings now by chat sports. I’m your host Patrick Seman and coming up on today’s show I want to talk about if the Vikings could be major sellers at the NFL trade deadline if they end up losing to the Detroit Lions. Now, I only think the way the Vikings would be major sellers where they’re moving off a lot of the key veterans of this team is if the Lions completely blast the Vikings and they put BTA to them in Detroit this Sunday where I’m talking the final scores 42 to 17 because the Vikings are frankly almost 100% healthy on both sides of the football now. So, I don’t really think there’s really any excuse to get blown out. But the bookmakers out west, they think it’s going to be a blowout. They have the Lions. This line’s been floating around 8 and a half, nine and a half throughout the week. And also, if you check out on DraftKings where majority of the money is coming in, 99% of money line handles are on the Lions. And so I’m like, okay, that makes sense. Obviously, people are trying to add the Lions to their parlays, but 91% of spread bets are on the Lions this weekend, which is insane. This is a divisional matchup with a double uh possession point spread, and people are hammering the Lions. So hopefully Vegas ras in this weekend and hopefully the Vikings go out there and get a win. And speaking about them getting a win, if you guys want the Vikes to beat the Lions this weekend, give me the a thumbs up on today’s video, I would greatly appreciate it. Trying to get the good vibes going. Don’t want to jinx us too much. Um and plus a win against the Lions. It would feel so so sweet um here this weekend. So if you guys want the Vikes to beat the Lions, go down there, hit that thumbs up icon. All right, so the first veteran we’re going to talk about here is going to be number 33, Aaron Jones. Now, Jeremy Fowler wrote up an interesting article talking about some notable trade candidates on the Minnesota Vikings, and he mentioned Aaron Jones. This is what he had to say. Running back Aaron Jones, moving on from Jones, might be more about saving money than anything else. He is owed just over $1 million in 2025 and has 2 million of his 10 million compensation in 2026 guaranteed. a deal the Vikings are likely to move on from this off seasonason, but a team like the Chargers be willing to essentially pay $3 million to have Jones in its uh lineup for the rest of 2025. And you know, if the Vikings do lose, and I love Aaron Jones, he’s great for this locker room, but you know, you definitely got to consider it like Aaron Jones, you know, he’s not the lead back anymore. Um I was still shocked in that Thursday game against the Chargers when the first Vikings offensive possession that they had Aaron Jones out there compared to Jordan Mason. I didn’t frankly understand that call at all because you know Jordan Mason has looked like the better back all season. Even if you’re going off rushing yards over expected, Jordan Mason, he’s plus 60. Aaron Jones is far in the negatives. So even the advanced analytics are suggesting that Jordan Mason’s a better running back. And if you guys just go watch the tape or even just watch the highlights on YouTube, you don’t even need to watch all 22 version. Like you can clearly see Jordan Mason is a more dominant, more physical runner. So, I think you should lean into Mason more the rest of the season. And if a team’s calling for Aaron Jones, might as well get a draft pick because you’re probably going to lose him or cut him next off seasonason anyway. So, might as well get what you can. And I just still can’t believe that they decided to extend him. Like, yes, Aaron Jones had 1500 all-purpose yards last year. He had,00 on the ground, 450 through the air, but we also saw at the second half of last season, like he definitely hit a wall. Now, I’m sure the Vikings front office, their thought process was, “All right, we’re just going to chalk this up to, you know, him being banged up, and if you brought in Jordan Mason, Aaron Jones could be a nice complimentary back, which very well could be true.” And again, if the Vikings win this game, these conversations are dead. But if they lose, they get blown out, might as well try to get a draft pick. And honestly, if you could just get a seventh for Aaron Jones, it’s probably going to be the calling card or uh asking price for him anyways. you probably just have to take that and absolutely run away with it because, you know, just the ability to move off his contract could be huge. And, you know, the financial impact of Aaron Jones like the Vikings could save just a little bit of money. You could save about $400,000 on the uh cap next season. If you trade him prejune one, so it also includes this year you uh in 2026, your dead cap would be 6.8 million, but then you end up saving it anyways, getting 7 uh.2 million. So, you would open up $400,000. Again, not that much, but the point of trading Aaron Jones was just the fact that you wouldn’t have him on your books for around $7 million this upcoming season. So, I would trade Aaron Jones if you do end up losing this Sunday. Um, love Aaron Jones. He was great for the Minnesota Vikings, but I just think it would be the right move. You guys let me know what you would do. Would you trade Aaron Jones? Give me a T for trade. Give me a P for pass. You guys let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. Make this the pin comment on today’s show, so you guys let me know your thoughts. But massive shout out to Prize Pix for sponsoring today’s show, Prize Fix. It’s good to be right. All right, first trade candidate we’re going to talk about here on the second half today’s show. We’re going to start off with tight end TJ Hawinson. Now TJ Hawinson, he’s been pretty disappointing since he tore his knee a couple of seasons ago and you know obviously you know still 28 years old still technically in his athletic prime but he has definitely looked like he has taken a step back and there are reports out there that the Los Angeles Rams are showing interest in him. Also the Jacksonville Jaguars and uh so there’s two teams calling about TJ Hawinson. Again there’s no confirmation about this. There’s kind of you know speculation out there on the internet but it would make some sense for the Rams to have some interest there. You know, obviously they drafted uh Terrence Ferguson early on this past draft, but he hasn’t been playing a whole lot for him. They still have Tyler Higgby, Kobe Parkinson, and Davis Allen, but you know, obviously having that connection, you know, Shawn McVey, Kevin O’Connell. Like, I’m sure Shawn McVey is probably saying, man, if we could just somehow get TJ, you know, for a sixth, seventh round pick swap, probably end up taking it. And you may be saying, well, why would the Vikings have any interest in trading TJ Hawin? And well, you would save a whole lot of money. Like, you know, obviously in 2026, you wouldn’t save a lot, but it’s still better than having them on the books for around $20 million and you’ obviously take on a dead cap hit, but you would really be making this move to save a lot of money and open up some space in 2027 where the dead cap hit would only be $7 million and the 2027 cap savings would be around $16 million. So, you’d be saving, you know, a good amount of money there. And you know, I’ve been saying this for a couple years now. Like the Vikings need to send a premium draft pick on a tight end because these tight ends nowadays are coming out and they’re hitting an all-time rate. I mean, even take the fifth rounder out of Syracuse Gadson who cooked the Vikings last week. He was taken in the fifth round. Like Mason Taylor, who the Jets in the second round, he looks like a good player. And obviously Tyler Warren looks like one of the better tight ends in the NFL already. So the Vikings, go spend a premium draft pick on a tight end. You want to get JJ McCarthy that guy? Well, go get him that guy in the draft. these tight ends, they’re hitting at an all-time rate right now, so might as well try the strike. Well, uh, you know, the iron is hot. And you already extended Josh Oliver this off seasonason, gave him a three-year uh $23 million deal. So, he will be one of the tight ends for the future. So, I don’t really think they have too much interest in, you know, keeping TJ Hawinson with him. But again, if the Vikings win this weekend and Hawk has a good game and he starts to turn back the clock a little bit, then you got Hawk and Oliver, like I still like that combination as Hawk being a true pass catcher, Oliver being the best run blocking tight end in the league. I do like that idea. I just think that’s probably going to be the one bombshell move where it’s like, oh my god, the Vikings are actually trading TJ Hawinson. I could see that happening before the NFL trade deadline, especially if they lose this weekend. But you guys, let me know your thoughts. Would you trade TJ Hawinson? Give me a T for trade. Give me a P for pass. You guys, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. All right, second veteran we’re going to talk about here. How about a little Javon Harrave? Now, obviously, John Javon Harrave has been wildly disappointing. Um, that’s funny. The Vikings Twitter page put out a little picture for Halloween saying the gravedigger and everybody was just kind of ripping Hard Grave in the comment section, which was uh obviously I’m sure he didn’t love that, but you know, why would you trave him off the books for next year? you know, it’s about even in terms of dead cap and savings, you would save $50,000. Um, so, you know, obviously wouldn’t be, you know, too much in savings, but it would just be the point of getting him off the books. And I’m sure another team is probably going to try to convince themselves where it’s like, you know what, maybe Javon Harve get him for a seventh round pick veteran in the league. He’s made a lot of good plays throughout his career, have him just kind of be a rotational defensive lineman. Um, and we’ve also seen his snaps, you know, really take a hit over the last four weeks. Like week four against the Steelers, he was playing 40 snaps. week five 33 but then these past two weeks he’s necessarily just playing 30% of snaps 18 against the Eagles charges he only played 22 and I think it’s kind of for two reasons one Hargrave hasn’t been that good but then also Jaylen Redmond’s been fantastic like I know all of us are you know looking on the negative of like oh Hargrave and Jonathan Allen they haven’t lived up to those contracts they signed which is 100% true but also you have a guy like Jaylen Redmond who’s playing great football and I love that they’re playing him 62 snaps against the LA Chargers because he’s been one of the best and to your defensive lineman in the league. Like right now, according to PFF, he is the sixth best pass rush grade in the entire NFL. Sitting at 79.6 and 280 snaps so far this season. Overall, he’s ranked 15th. And honestly, sometimes I’m looking at this and I’m like, maybe it’s too low because this guy just wins on every single rep out there. His pressure rate, win percentage 17.6%. His win rate percentage as a whole combined with his pressure rate and his run stopping rate is at 14.3%. So he is winning a whole lot and he is getting consistent push and he has really been the lone you know bright spot on this defense in terms of guys who we you know obviously I thought Redmond had a chance break out but he’s even been better than I thought and also his running mate another young defensive tackle for this team. Levi Drake Rodriguez. ESPN does a statistic where it’s defensive tackle run stop win rate rankings. And both these guys, they’re tied for 60 in the whole NFL. Like this isn’t just NFC. This isn’t just NFC North. These are all defensive tackles. And Jayen Redmond 42%. It’s tied for six. LDR 42%. Tied for six. So these guys are playing some good football. So again, not feeling too good about Allen and Hargrave, but at least we got these two guys behind them. and they’re uh honestly making it hard to keep them off the football field, especially a guy like Jaylen Redmond. He has truly truly uh truly been fantastic. But if you guys want to show Jaylen Redmond some love, give me those 61s. Type his jersey number down below in the comment section. I’d appreciate it if you guys could. And uh we’ll get on out of here. Shout out to all of you guys for tuning in. As always, skull bikes. [Music]

I bet Hockenson would hate this. After all he finally got used to winning. What a schmuck. Trade him. Not a team player and whining about wins in Detroit. We got rid of him and what happened? For both teams? Cap wise vs contribution it makes sense and the team fit isn't good for Vikings. Send him to the Jets. Lol.
Appreciate 33 but T
