Thatcher Demko, Tyler Myers & Adam Foote Post-Game Media | Canucks at Capitals (Oct 19, 2025)
all that you guys went through through this game. What do you think of the team’s effort and to come out that strong? Yeah. Um it’s impressive for sure. Um really proud of the group. It’s tough uh four days here. You know, it’s pretty much three games in three and a half days. So, um that on top of obviously losing some key guys, you know, um they, you know, the Washington got their game going for sure. We know they’re a good team. They probably didn’t start how they wanted to and they uh they kind of found it there at the second half. So, um, yeah, really proud of the the way the guys kind of stepped up and and just played a kind of an ugly game to to get two points. What you think a man seeing you dropping the glove? Yeah, I mean, it’s a I just talked to him in the room there. It’s uh it’s a tough customer that he decided to drop him with. So, um yeah, I never I can never watch our guys fight, so I’m always in the corner. So, I’m not sure how he did. I’m just, you know, I’m glad he’s uh he’s moving around. Okay. So, um yeah, took took some big boy balls there. some guys laying down and blocking some shots for you late late in the game. What was that doing? Yeah, I appreciate that for sure. Um, you know, admittedly I was getting a little tired there. So, uh, we were hemmed in a little bit and, um, anytime our guys, you know, it kind of just shows where our our mindset was at as a group tonight was, uh, kind of just doing anything it took to win. So, um, yeah, some huge box and, you know, I always go talk to those guys. I I appreciate when guys are doing that. So, it was good. I always talk about the fitness level of the skaters, but what is the heart rate doing the last couple minutes like that? I thought you win the the game’s moving so quick. Uh I don’t know. Just trying to get on the bus with two points. So, um yeah, kind of whatever it takes. How are you feeling about your game here? You’ve been playing pretty well from the start of the season. Yeah, I mean I I think I can clean some things up. So, um we’ve gotten some wins, so that’s what matters. And uh I’m super proud of that. uh proud of kind of how I’ve been able to to come in and win three out of the first four games here uh that I’ve started, but um you know, I’m a guy that always wants to be better and and I think that I can be. So, um yeah, continue to work on that stuff. You mentioned the two points and of course all the wins are worth the same, but they don’t always feel the same. Does this one feel special tonight because of um Sure. Yeah, for sure. I mean, um, like I was just talking to these guys, I think before you got over here, you know, it’s, uh, no, you’re good. Um, you know, schedule’s been tough the last three days, you know, um, pretty much three and three and a half, but um, it’s a huge start to our trip. You know, we we had some pressure on us coming into this road trip. You know, I’m not going to pretend like it’s not there. Um, you know, media was talking about it. Um, guys in our room were talking about it, coaching staff’s talking about it. I think we all knew kind of what position we were in coming to the trip and to get the first three is huge. You know, we have two left that we want to get, but um yeah, it’s been a great start to the trip. Myers, you guys face a number of challenges in this one just with injuries and obviously not playing with Brock Besser as well. What can you say about the team’s effort to come out with the win? It was great. Um got the start we wanted. We’ve been talking about it. uh you know, we didn’t we haven’t liked our starts lately and done a good job of getting into it after, but um obviously a quick goal tonight uh got us into it and helped out a lot too. Uh but guys played well. Um you know, they made a big push at the end. Guys were making some big blocks. Demer was great and uh you know, we stuck it out. You get on the board. Can you walk us through your goal? Well, I got lucky. Gainer did a good job going to the net. uh puck popped out to me and I was able to to put it in, but uh yeah, it was good. Always feels good to score and got a little lucky. What can you say about just how the team got three wins in a row here on this trip? How how have you guys maybe been improving as you’ve been going game by game? Yeah, I think you just said it. I think we’ve been getting better and better. Um you know, I think we’re building our team game and uh you know, pretty young team. We’re we’re learning as we go still. Um but guys are doing a good job of you know staying in it and uh playing with uh you know a lot of good work ethic and uh you know we showed it tonight and you know we knew they were going to make a push in the third. We can talk about ways to not sit back as much um but guys guys battled hard. You mentioned Demco but how important your goalies been I guess as you guys are kind of going through this in the beginning of the season and kind of learning your way. Yeah I mean they’re huge. Demer’s great. Len is great too. Um, you know, we say all the time that we think we have one of the better goalie tandems in the league and they’ve shown it here early in the year and um, you know, we have a lot of confidence playing in front of them. You saw what Sherwood can do offensively last year for him to kind of keep that pace up early this year. What kind of spark does he bring to the Yeah, he’s got a ton of energy. Um, love having him uh on our team. Um, I know, uh, you know, the coaches want to dial him back sometimes, but, you know, I’d rather have to do that than the other the other way around. So, um, you know, Woody Woody’s been great. He brings a ton of ton of passion. Uh, it’s great playing with him. Been a long time. Does it ever get easier to see a teammate leave the ice in that fashion? No, it’s tough. Um, hope he’s okay. Hope it doesn’t, uh, take too long and, uh, you know, we’ll see how he is. Well, considering all the circumstances that came up through this game, what do you think of your team’s fight in this one? It was good. We had really good start as you saw and um you know like you said we as the game went on we lost a couple guys and so we were trying to keep it together and they made a strong push as we knew they would and um we were able to get the big win. What did you think of the hit? Well, I saw it once after on the bench. Didn’t look at it in intermission. I mean, it looked like from from my first view that it was a clean hit. Like, uh, I’m going to look at it again. I mean, um, he’s a big guy. Um, you know, so I I like the way I like the way our players and get caught in with a lead like that, getting caught in the trap of a hit like that, running after them and trying to get them. we have to get the two points first and and then you you know that other stuff takes care of itself later down the road if it needs to be taken care of which we’ll view it and I don’t know it was a clean hit or was just a bad timing for heat s but um I really like the way you know they’re smart they’re trying to get us off our game and we and we held it together we didn’t want to go four and four with a team like that um you know and get in the box with being down guys feel for Hedo though you feel for Hedo though leave that fashion. Oh, yeah. Yeah. It’s an awful feeling, right? Um I think we’re all human and whether it’s a guy on their team, our team, I think everyone feels that and uh you know, we’ll we’ll he’s being evaluated. We’ll see where he’s at. Yeah. What do you think of Mancini stepping up and dropping the gloves for the team? It was good. I think he got challenged and you know, made it four nothing. We didn’t want to really we didn’t really want to see it, but you know, they want to do that, but um it kind of settled it down where maybe a couple of the other guys didn’t have to do it on their team. So, I really give him a lot of credit for that and he uh did well. If you typically go into the room much during the game, if you go in I don’t know if you typically go in and talk to the guys between periods, but did you say anything to them after the first when emotions were Yeah, pretty of course. Yeah, of course. It’s now they’re going to try to get us off our game and get out get us out of our rhythm and get themselves in in it and that’s just normal. That’s always been the way in in hockey and and you know, we were we talked about it a lot and just wanted to gather oursel. I felt like the first period our speed kind of surprised them. Uh guys were humming. I thought Person got that first goal was over a great for check and a reload by our guys. D was aggressive which we want to see more this year and we’re seeing it on the on the pinch and and I think you saw Pey getting that goal his he played great like defensively he was you know had more pace at his game going at guys had more confidence on the defensive side you saw him with two big blocks too so I really liked his game especially in not a friendly environment it was uh could have got really physical and he he didn’t he didn’t seem to mind what kind this do for your team three wins now on the trip and just kind early in the season like this. I think it’s great. I think, you know, especially losing a couple guys, you know, we don’t know what happened to Teddy at the end. Well, he’ll be evaluated as well, but when you lose, you know, you’re sitting there with SAS, who’s a rookie and uh did a hell of a job and Pety, you’re you’re you’re we all chipped in and uh rallied and and got that big two points. And so I think it’s going to be good for our club and now we have to uh see what happens with you know the next couple days with who who’s going to be up next. Larry Kamaki, any update on him or No. No. How about Besser? Do you know how long he might be away from the team or anything? I I’m I’m hearing it’s not going to be long at

wilson is a goon good for rempe
ah yes my favourite NHL goalie, Thatcher Demo
So awful to see Chytil skate off like that, not to mention Blueger and Lekkerimaki. Proud of the team regardless, and I hope everyone the best with their health.
Demo
good job demmer
Ah yes my favorite goalie Thatcher Demo
3rd game in 64 hours with a couple of flights thrown in. down 2 forwards. what an effort.
Footy's a Coach.
Well guys, you can do it! Even with 3 missing players today.
Good responses to those media diggers, Demmer.
Keep up your good speed, too!
When Demko is on, he is the best, better than that guy on the Jets. If healthy, he should be the No. 1 on Team USA.
Love that Demmers doesn't watch the fights – keeping zen and focused 💙💚🤍
Petey has been heating up lately, but Hughes has definitely regressed so far this season.
Kane has a penalty in every single game this season. That needs to stop. He is a liability at this point.
Can't support the NHL anymore, I've been a Canucks fan for almost 40 years… This is the first year idgaf about ANY team, Bettman is a cancer. Media has turned into mostly click bait, all the influencers were journalists at some point, now just hacks… puh.. I could just go on forever about how much it all sucks, this is my last check up on hockey, sadly… I'll leave you all to struggle with the fact that Canada will never win a cup again. Ever
I am seriously praying that it's not a concussion for Chytil otherwise we're dead, especially with Petey hardly being a number 1 center atm. Second thing is I think the Canucks made a really huge mistake by not re signing Suter and get Kane instead, I mean maybe the organization thought we lost Dakota so we needed someone with grit to replace that, but seriously I think that was a big mistake especially with our center deficiency this year, I'd much rather pay Suter the 4.2m he's making now in St Louis than having Kane and paying him over 5m that he's making.
"Does it ever get easier to see a teammate leave the ice in that fashion"?
C'mon sersiously ? Wow what kind of dumbass question is that ??? What do you even expect a player to say ?? Danng these reporter questions are insanely stupid.
