Steelers’ defensive errors vs. Packers are ‘disturbing’ – Rodney Harrison | PSNFF | NFL on NBC

GOOD CARE. >> OF THE BALL. >> AND PUT IT IN HARM’S WAY. AND HE DID THAT TONIGHT. >> EARLIER, I TALKED ABOUT THE OFFENSIVE LINE NOT BEING AS DOMINANT AS IT ONCE WAS. THEY I THOUGHT THEY DID AN CELLENT JOB NIGHT ON T.J. WATT AND CAMERON HEYWARD. AND THOSE GUYS NO SACKS TONIGHT. >> THEY HAD A GOOD PLAN FOR THE OUTSIDE RUSHERS. AND THEN WHEN WILSON GOT IN THERE IN THE SECOND HALF IN THE RUN GAME, PICKED UP. BOY THAT SECOND HALF. THEY SCORED ON EVERY DRIVE. >> AND FOR THE STEELERS THIS IS NOW TWICE IN A ROW REALLY. YOU GO BACK TO THE BENGALS GAME AND JOE FLACCO WAS GOING RIGHT UP AND DOWN THE ELD. THEY WEREN’T GETTING MUCH PRESSURE ON HIM IN THAT GAME. AND NOW TONIGHT NOT MUCH PRESSURE OR SACKS ON LOVE. SO WHAT IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE RIGHT NOW FOR PITTSBURGH. >> DEFENSIVELY? THEY’RE JUST NOT PLAYING DOMINANT DEFENSIVE FOOTBALL BOTH GAMES. THEY GOT AHEAD AND GAVE UP THE LEADS BECAUSE THEY COULDN’T HOLD IT IN THE SECOND HALF. AND THAT’S NOT LIKE. >> SO MIKE TOMLIN IS A DEFENSIVE COACH RIGHT. YES. SO WHAT MIK TOMLIN IS GOING TO HAVE TO DO COACH. HE’S GOING TOAVE TO TAKE A LONG LOOK AT EVERY ASPECT E COACHING STAFF, EVERYTHING. WHETHER YOU’RE HUSTLING, YOU’RE NOT HUSTLING, YOU’RE MISSING TACKLES. HE’S GOT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THAT COACH. BECAUSE WHAT I SEE IS DISTURBING IN THE SECONDARY. THERE’S NO COMMUNICATION. DESHON ELLIOTT IS YOUR ONE SAFETY THAT COMMUNICATES. AND YOU LOST HIM. >> TONIGHT ONCE HE GOT HURT, EVERYTHING FELL APART BACK THERE. >> THE T POINT CONVERSION. YOU SEE GUYS RUNNING FREE. YOU SEE GUYS LOOKING AT EACH OTHER. THEIR HANDS UP FOR ME, THAT THAT GOES BACK TO THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. I DON’T CARE IF YOU HAVE TO PLAY ONLY TWO COVERAGES. YOU PLAY THOSE TWO COVERAGES AT 100% WITH NO MISTAKES. AND THAT’S BEEN THE PROBLEM WITH HIM. THEY’RE LETTING GUYS RUN FREE. >> DO THEY HAVE THE TALENT IN THAT SECONDARY. >> THEY’VE GOTTEN OLDER MAN I MEAN THEY HAVE SOME TALENT. BUT YOU LOOK AT DARIUS SLAY AND A TACKLE. HE TURNED DOWN. HE WAS HE ACT LIKE HE WAS MPLETELY SCARED TO TACKLE THE. >> GUY AT ABOUT THE THREE YARD. >> HE HAS TO STOP A TOUCHDOWN. YEAH HE DID. >> SO IT’S JUST FRUSTRATING. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU PAN THESE GUYS. THAT TYPE OF MONEY. >> COMMUNICATION MAN COVERAGE, MAKING PLAYS. IT JUST HASN’T BEEN THERE THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS 30 POINT GAMES OF I PLAYE DEFENSE HERE. WE’RE NOT USED TO SEEING THAT IN THIS STADIUM. >> AND I LOOK AT I LOOK AT THR LINEBACKERS PATRICK QUEEN AND WILSON. THEY’RE NOT VERY GOOD. THEY’RE JUST NOT VY GOOD. IF YOU RUN DIRECTLY AT THEM, PATRICK. PATRICK QUEEN HE’S NOT COMING, BLOWING IT UP. HE’S GOING AROUND BLOCKS. HE’S RUNNING AROUND IT. AND EN YOU LOOK ON THE DEFENSIVE LINE. T.J. WATT CAMERON HEYWARD THOSGUYS ARE WORKING AS HARD AS THEY CAN, BUT THEY’RE STARTING TO GET OLDER. THEY’RE STARTING TO AR DOWN A LITTLE BIT. AND YOU SEE IT WITH CAMERON HEYWARD. HE’S IN HIS 15th SEASON AND HE’S GOING TO BE A HALL OF FAMER. BUT HE’WEARING DOWN AND TT’S WHAT’S GOING ON WITH THEIR DEFENSE. >> DO YOU AGREE. >> MAYBE A TTLE BITF FATIGUE. BECAUSE LAST WEEK AND THIS WEEK FIRST HALF OKAY. HELD THEMOWN. THEN YOU GIVE UP 30 POINTS IN THE SECOND HALF. >> THEY HAD TEN DAYS OFF TO COACH. HOW CAN THEY BE TIRED. THAT’S WHAT MY THAT’S MY POINT. HOW CAN THEY BE TIRED IF THEY HAD TEN DAYS OFF. >> IF YOU’RE MIKE TOMLIN LEAVING THIS GAME IT’S NOW TWO IN A ROW. THIS ONE ON YOUR HOME FIELD. WE SAW E SECOND HALF WHEN YOUR BIGGEST COACHING POINTS TEACHING POINTS TALKING POINTS WOULD BE WHAT. >> IS WEAN MAKE A RUN. BUT WE’VE GOT TO GET THIS DEFENSE GOING. OUR OFFENSE IS GOOD ENOUGH. THEY’RE GOING TO PUT POINTS ON THE BOARD. WE GET 25. WE GET 30 LIKE WE GOT LAST WEEK. WE CA’T LOSE THESE GAMES. SO DEFENSE WE’VE GOT TO STEP UP AND WE’VE GOT TO MAKE SOME PLAYS. >> YEAH. YOU GOT A BUNCH OF VETERANS OTHAT DEFENSE. >> GOT A CHALLENGE. >> ALL THROUGH ON THREE LEVELS. AND IT’S GOT TO BE A SENSE OF URGENCY. AND I MEAN FOR ME I’M OUT HERE AND I’M DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE GUYS ARE BLOWING COVERAGES AND YOU CAN’T PLAY 100%. YOU CAN’T PLAY IF YOU’RE SECOND GUESSING, NOT KNOWING WHERE TO GO. SO I MEAN, THEY NEED ONE LEADER BACK. THEY’RE MAKING ALL

Rodney Harrison, Tony Dungy and Jac Collinsworth spell out why Mike Tomlin needs to take a “long look” at every aspect of his coaching after the Steelers struggled in the second half against the Packers. #NFL #SNF #NBCSports #PittsburghSteelers #PeacockTV

  1. Defense is too old slow a bunch of has been get some of that money back coaching staff is a bunch of sorry suckers I had high hopes this year for the Steelers but it was all an illusion

  2. We haven't had a good defense since they pushed Coach LeBeau out. Rumor is the organization insisted young players get on the field early, and we saw how even Troy struggled in year one.

  3. This is the main reason I am watching college football now I could care less about pros because these players get paid and then they vanish. I’m sick of it. I love my stealers, but I’m not watching another game till changes are made and I mean coaching changes.

  4. What Tomlin has done is inexcusable. 1 of the best franchises in the NFL . Tomlin isn't a very good coach. He won his Super Bowl with Cowher"s team. He took them and ran it into the ground. He's no Hall of Fame coach. In fact, he's the total opposite of Hall of Fame. HE'S TOMLIN OF UNFAME. This may be the longest playoff drought in Steelers history without a win.

  5. I've been saying it for years… The typical Steelers move is to keep doing the same things and hoping for a different outcome. Every other team that has a decent offensive coordinator or head coach knows EXACTLY what the Steelers defense is going to do week in and week out and they're exposing it.

  6. I think losing Minkah is more impactful than they thought. Teryl Austin has been exposed and his only adjustment is to "play better". A good coach knows when to PIVOT

  7. Yeah the Wilson & Queen experiment isnt working. I see them get blown up alot. think they thought the Dline would be more dominant to allow them to roam.

  8. This one is not on the DC,he had people in perfect position ,they just could not tackle or they displayed a serious lack of awareness, that is on the GM…….We need some ballers on our defense,TJ is a bust,Cam is serviceable, smmfh!

  9. Its the coaches starting with Tomlin. Need to go! If you watch the 2 point conversion the steelers had 10 men on field. How does that happen? Why hasn't anyone else reported this?

  10. Tomlin needs to look in the mirror to find the problem. He’s always been terrible at mid game adjustments, and he hasn’t gotten better. 4 games of 30+ points allowed out of 7 games this year is inexcusable for a Steeler defense

  11. That defense is cooked. The scheme is also outdated and they fail to make adjustments in the second half of games. It's a recipe for disaster and not sustainable. If you thought the Steelers past off-season was interesting, stay tuned for this upcoming off season.

  12. WHat's really disturbing to me is the virtual invisibility of TJ Watt week after week — the inconsistency is ridiculous. He'll have like one explosive play in 3 games & everyone starts hyping him up again
