Bengals Get GOOD Joe Burrow Injury News, More Trey Hendrickson Trade Rumors + Defensive Downfall

[Music] What’s going on, Bengals fans? We are talking the latest Bengals rumors this evening after their 39 to 38 loss to the New York Jets. Whether it’s trade rumors, just something that could possibly fix this Bengals team. I don’t really know what you could do. Um, but we’re going to talk about it here on today’s show. Also do have an update on Joe Burrow’s injury as well. Maybe we could see see him maybe a little bit sooner rather than later here. I want to hear from you guys though. The NFL trade deadline is coming up here in uh I don’t know uh 8 n days, something like that there on uh November 4th. Do you think there is a fix for this Bengals defense right now? Could you make a trade at the NFL trade deadline? Maybe even a couple trades that could help out this Bengals defense. Let me know what you guys think. Can the Bengals defense be fixed this season, especially here at the NFL trade deadline? All right, let’s start off with some Joe Burrow injury updates for us here. James Rabine actually tweeted a video out of Joe Burrow on the sidelines of today’s game walking around without a walking boot. This is really good news for the Cincinnati Bengals. It is something that uh you know hasn’t really been seen so far. Joe Burrow walking around without that boot on. I think the problem though is if Joe Burrow does end up physically being able to come back this season, you know, the expectation is that it would be sometime mid December. You maybe would have three or four games left in the season. Where are the Bengals actually going to be in the standings by then? You know, this is, you know, this was, I think, the best opportunity for the Bengals in today’s game versus the Jets to really write the ship and they ended up blowing it. You had an opportunity. If you win this game and the Steelers lose against the Packers tonight, you could have been within a half a game of the Steelers in the AFC uh North Division here. But look, man, if the Bengals can’t, you know, get on track, I don’t even know if they would really entertain even bringing Joe Burrow back. You know, the NFL trade deadline is here in just a couple of days on November 4th. Uh, you know, the Bengals have, you know, one more game before the NFL trade deadline actually, you know, ends up happening. You play the Bears on next Sunday. you know, who had won the last four games before losing today to Tyler Huntley and the uh Baltimore Ravens, which uh you know, I feel like they’re kind of in the same boat as the Bengals right now. You know, they start winning a couple games, then all of a sudden you have this setback against a team that you really shouldn’t end up losing against. I think at this point, uh you know, if the Bengals do end up losing to the Bears, you would have two more days before the NFL trade deadline. Maybe I’m just overreacting at this point because of this very, very frustrating loss today. But, you know, if you end up losing to the Bears next week, I think you have to blow it up. You know, trade Logan Wilson, trade Trey Hendrickson. Hell, may maybe you can even trade T. Higgins as well. I think you could get at least three to four top 100 draft picks between Trey and T. Higgins combined. I think you have to rebuild. you have to start over and you have to fix this defense from scratch through the NFL draft. Because right now with the personnel that you have on defense, with the coaching staff that you have on defense right now, I don’t even know if Jesus Christ himself could really be a successful defensive coordinator for this Bengals team. So, there was also a report today that both the uh Cowboys and the or the Cowboys actually made trade calls to both the Raiders for Max Crosby and the Bengals for Trey Hendrickson. Uh and both of those teams ended up turning those trade offers down. Now, we don’t know exactly what the Cowboys actually offered for Trey Hendrickson. I don’t really expect it to be a first round pick. If it was a first round pick, he’d probably not be a Cincinnati Bengal anymore. Um, but I I think the big question is, you know, if Trey Hendrickson is up at the NFL trade deadline, what would, you know, the Bengals actually end up taking for him? And up to this point, I have not been, you know, in favor of trading Trey Hendrickson right now. Uh, but but I do think next week is really the tipping point. If you lose that game next week to the Bears, I I I just think you got to uh make a move there because, you know, Trey Hendrickson, you know, he’s great. Everybody loves him, but I he’s just not helping the Bengals right now. And it does not really help at all that he is, you know, constantly getting hurt. It seems like right now. He went out in today’s game uh right there at halftime with that hip/back injury. You know, I saw some people on social media kind of calling it a cheap shot. Maybe you could call it a block in the back, but I don’t really know if it was necessarily this, you know, crazy cheap shot at the end of the day. Um, it just doesn’t help that Trey Hendrickson has been hurt here for the past couple of weeks for the Bengals. And really, even today, you know, he wasn’t really doing anything in terms of the pass rush. And when he’s not out there, you’re really not getting any type of pass rush out there. You know, I’ve talked about Joseph Osai. Uh, you know, early in the season I was kind of dogging Joseph Osai and then people were like, “Oh man, give him, you know, give him some time. You know, Joseph Osai is good.” And that, well, Trey Henderson goes out today and Joseph Osai really doesn’t show up. Miles Murphy really isn’t doing anything for you either. you picked uh Jamar Stewart in the first round last year when you had other guys that I think you definitely could have, you know, gone after in last year’s NFL draft that I think probably could have helped you a little bit more than what he’s done so far this season. So, I mean, we’ll talk about in a second. Uh, you know, the defense is really what has been holding you back right now. And if you lose next week to the Bears, I think it is about time to trade as many pieces as possible and start this rebuild because right now, uh, the Bengals need as many top 100 draft picks as they could possibly get. So, what would you want in return for Trey Hendrickson? I’m sure I know some uh, you know, answers that some people are going to throw down there in the comments section. They want a first round pick. They want a player that can start immediately for you and be an impact player. I just right now don’t think that’s really realistic for Trey Hendrickson. I think, you know, at best you could probably get a second round pick for him. Maybe you could even throw a player in there that may or may not be good. Um, you know, I I just really don’t see first round pick being in the cards for a Trey Hendrickson trade. But let me know what you guys think. Uh, you know, the Bengals have already turned down multiple offers for Trey Hendrickson. So, let me know what you guys would want in return if the Bengals did end up trading Trey Hendrickson. I just I’m still at a loss for words about what happened in this game today. Uh, you know, the defensive woes just continue to be an issue for this Bengals team. They came out so hot in the first quarter. They were flying around, man. You know, the first two drives of the game, they had guys, you know, playing like their hair was on fire. you know, Demetrius Knight, Barrett Carter, you know, DJ Turner, Josh Newton. These guys were just flying around the football field, making tackles, making TFLs, just, you know, really sucking the life out of that Jets team early on in the first quarter. Hell, even Cam Taylor Brit was making plays there in the first quarter. You know, they in the first quarter, the Bengals defense went out there. You had a turnover on downs, which really that was probably a stupid decision there by Aaron Glenn early on in that game, but you know, either way, they they ended up winning the game. So, hell, what do I know there? Um, you know, and and then after that, you forced a three and out after that. After the first quarter, the Jets went and scored on seven of their eight last drives of the game. They had one more punt mixed in there as well. Whether it was field goals, whether it was touchdowns, the Bengals could not stop this really, really bad, by the way, Jets offense. They just got out to a lead and thought that they could just coast. And you know, it just they they just pissed it away just like they always do. And you know, we we put our instant reaction out and that’s a lot of the times uh you know, just you know, pure emotion for the most part right there. But I I still just don’t know who is to blame overall here. Is it the personnel or is it the coaching staff? You know, I think a lot of people, including myself at times, you know, I kind of go back and forth on this to be honest. Uh, you know, a lot of people want to blame the personnel, but you know, if you think about it, good coaches do find a way to put players in positions to win. Are we really saying Trey Hendrickson isn’t good personnel? You know, who drafted Chamar Stewart in the first round? It was the coaching staff. You know, who was really happy back during the NFL draft when you drafted Demetrius Knight in the second round? I I remember when Stone did that video, he was very confused. And I I know a lot of you guys in the comments were very confused about that draft pick as well. You know, how about all the wasted top 100 draft picks over the past seven years under this Zack Taylor regime? You know, Cam Taylor, Britt, McKinley Jackson, Germaine Burton. They’re just constantly the list goes on and on and on. You know, it would, you know, I’ll be completely honest here. I could give a if Germaine Burton is late to another meeting this season. Right now, he he is just a better player than Andre Yoshivas. He might even be better than Charlie Jones as well. I think he could help you out on offense and I think he he can help you out on special teams as well. Are we in the business of winning football games or not? You know, the personnel is the personnel because your front office and your coaching staff just cannot evaluate talent. We have talked about that over the past couple of weeks here. You have wasted so many top 100 draft picks and you know they can um they they just can’t put anybody in a position to win right now. So, I I I still don’t know what to say. Uh, you know, is it the personnel? I think partially. Is it the coaching staff? I think partially, too. You know, Al Golden has the same defense. You You guys know I’m the host of the uh, you know, Alabama Football Report as well. They run the exact same defense and they are constantly getting gashed on the ground as well. I personally think it is a uh, you know, scheme type of issue there. Um, but at the same time, you know, the scheme does work when guys are in the right positions and you see, you know, constantly, man, when you’re not setting the edge, you know, those uh, you know, opposing running backs or whoever it is, when they bounce outside, they just absolutely gash you. And that’s what happened in this game today. The Bengals could not stop a nose bleed after the first quarter in this game. Is it a personnel issue? Is it a coach issue? I I kind of think it’s a mixture of both. [Music]

  3. I don’t understand if you spend all your money on the offense why you would think your defense would be good? Plus, the OL needs help… I’m not a Bengals fan but from the outside that’s what I see. Burrow like Lamar mask a lot of holes.

  4. TBH, I wish we could release Burrow and get our money back since he's always hurt. Hire Flacco since he does just fine with out offense and spend the millions of bucks on our defense and O line.

  32. Trade Tee Higgins? You’ve lost your marbles! Did you see how our WR 3 played? Trey is injured, and Logan is not going to bring anything more than a 3rd round pick. As we know this team isn’t exactly selecting great defensive players in the draft.

  33. The only Joe Burrow injury news is that it won't matter if it takes 6 more weeks or 6 more months to heal because there'll be nothing left to play for in December

They just need to tank the rest of the season so they can have the first picks and the first pick in the second round the first pick in the third round and the fourth round get rid of Trey get more draft picks hey I need a total recall on the defense and need to hire new coaches are we just going to keep going over this year after year

  37. The only position the bengals are good at developing through the draft is WR. Trading away great players for picks won’t do us any good. The defense has been at its best in the past when there is a healthy balance of veterans and young talent. FO has gotten rid of all of the veteran leadership we have had and currently ostracizing to a degree the few veteran leaders we have on that side of the ball.

  45. The only defensive trade that might help is to just trade for a nasty, hard hitting monster. He didn't even need to be good. There's no amount of skill that can fix this d right now. But maybe of we get an ahole on this team the rest of the d will stop being pudding soft. Taylor likes the smart soft scaredy cats. That's why we are pudding soft.

  49. So much surrounding if and when Joe Burrow could return. Bottom line, if this team cannot stop anyone defensively it does not matter ultimately who is under center. It is demoralizing for a franchise QB or anyone else for that matter to be on a team where the opponent just isn't another team, it's your own front office and staff, who continue to make draft and personnel blunders. Then deal with all these mistakes with the sort of delusional positivity that is just outright insulting. Bengals brass continue to indicate works in progress when in fact, at this moment, about 90% of their defense should not even be in a professional uniform. They are slow, awkward, and show little to zero, putting it mildly, ability to improve. What players like Myles Murphy have shown is little to no reason to be optimistic. He is at best a lackluster fill in on a defense desperate for playmakers. Other players as well in this category include, Chris Jenkins, McKinley Jackson, Shemar Stewart, Cameron Sample, even Joseph Ossai is miserably inconsistent. All these stinking draft picks that as of right now are complete failures. McKinley Jackson wants to be traded? Who in their right mind would give anything for him? Logan Wilson, at least he had some sort of prime, would likely be worth a 5th or 6th rounder. The DBs are slow to cover, slow to react, and are poor tacklers to boot. Some of that is effort. Most of that is ability. Cannot teach speed. They are far too often steps slow and have huge gaps in zone defenses that even the least experienced QBs can exploit. Translation is they aren't good enough and NEVER will be as almost ALL these guys are not rookies or even 2nd year players. Sad, very sad. Sad not only in the present but also the future. Future in more raw talent coming in that can't or won't be developed. Will sit on the depth chart and join the far too many making no impact along with the other draft mistakes that came before them. Bengals are just a bad judge of character. Marvin Lewis for 16 years should tell that to anyone familiar with the history of this franchise. The delusional way Zac Taylor approaches things is another tell tale sign. So much wrong and no one smart enough to turn the tide. Instead you have those who only THINK their smart enough but once again year after year what happens on that field proves NOT. What will be the next dumb move? Time will tell.
