I got the chance to watch Denton pitch in the Arizona Fall League last week at Talking Stick, and I was really impressed with his outing. He entered in the first inning, taking over for the starter who had walked three batters and allowed five baserunners in just two-thirds of an inning.

Denton came in and challenged the strike zone with a 94 mph fastball. He pitched 2 shutout innings in that game and struck out 6 men. His fastball has movement on it and batters were struggling to pick up the release point, something that was even more apparent when a later reliever came in throwing 99 mph heat, and batters were all over him.

  1. I was really hoping to see Charlie Condon at the game I attended, but he ended up not playing at all. Detroit’s top prospect Kevin McGonigle did though and he was impressive, going 4-5 with a home run. I think he’s ranked as the #2 overall prospect in baseball.
