NHL Highlights | Capitals vs. Sabres | November 01, 2025
maybe hit a milestone, but you really don’t want
to see it. But I think it’s a good challenge here for the Savers. It’s a veteran team. They’re
coming off with a game last night where they lost, so they’re going to be coming out with some
fire. Capitals welcome Dylan Stroback to the lineup. Ryan Leonard and Anthony Bavilier,
his linemates. Washington was really good in the first period against the Islanders. New York
won that game, but it was all passing. And they get one here as Strong goes to the net to open
the scoring very early. Just a minute seven in. It’s a one- nothing Washington lead. That’s a
big boost for this hockey team. And here guys, four guys on one and he’s able to come out
of there with the puck. Just drops this one down low. Just work it up the wall. Bang.
Gets himself to the net and coming right down the gut. Everybody got caught staring at
the net. Look at everybody’s face. Where is it? They’re staring at the puck. They’re
not staring at what’s coming in behind. Sabres work it up for Malstein the former Capital
with a shot the rebound done fights it to the net but then it’s popped out to Wilson and is chopped
ahead here and hits with a chance on low Cus pass across back and forth they go and Cronis burries
it and it’s a two nothing Capitals lead early going to collect his fifth goal of the year
and that was a nice little passing play he’s a big man and when he gets going man he’s hard
to catch here he’s coming down full stride But he’s taking a look to see what he has with
him. And that’s a smart move making the play there. Gets Lucin and moving a little bit and
then the quick back and he stays there. See how he stops there? He stays north of the goal
line. That allows that puck to come back. Guys, there’s a lot of delicate players there
and he’s done a nice job managing. Thompson, Zucker, and Greenway on the ice. Zucker
in front and scores. That’s how you answer. [Music] with authority. Thompson slams it home and right off the drop. Good pressure there
by Greenway. Gets on top of the puck. Zucker wins that battle. Pushes him in off the puck and
then turns and fires in front of the net. Look, soon as he gets it, his head’s up. Paige comes
off the backside playing centering. He just kind of got lost in behind everybody. Put on the
pressure right back to Alex. He drives it. Power to the slot. Oh, push off by Lindred and he makes
the stop. Capitals keep possession here. Buffalo running around their own zone. The foul clear and
shot goes wide. Mcichel finds the shot stopped by Lucin and Buffalo trying to clear and they can’t
get it out. Colleen’s attempt was stopped at the line. Joseanne trying to touch it ahead. Now it’s
skated out the center ice. Capital seeing Buffalo changing. Quick up for drops it. Mcichel back
to was able to connect once again in this game. Sabres will find their way back
with Dolan and Alex Tuck tuck and the game is tied at two. 958 remaining in the
opening period. [Applause] Nice job defending out the other end when they get a chance. got in
behind there and a nice little dish from Don. Puck’s got a man all over him. Carlson and it
was kind of a reach around but he’s able to overpower it and go short side. Gets it back
again right side. Cuts in on his back hand. Quinn dishes off to the wall now. Rosane with
a shot. Rebound side of the net. Backhanded just wide. Jerry Koulik with the chance. Savers
turn now to tilt the ice. Dolene at the line. He’ll leave a good movement here by Quinn.
Cuts in. No shot. Samuelson takes the shot and that one is stopped and held on to. Sailors elite
finishes it checked out of the corner. Timbits for Roseanne. Leaves it for Quinn in the slot. Back
to Rosanne. Scores. Is Rosanne gets his first. He’s waited some time for this one, but he’s
got his first. And the Savers are up three to2. Carry over from Ro to here. And this line’s
been buzzing. Jack Quinn’s been very good in this first period. And right here, he makes this
play getting into the center of the ice. A little drop there to Rosanne stepping in and
shooting. Not trying to make the extra move, not trying to get too close. Takes the shot. Got
Koulique established in front. But look at that pass by Jack Quinn. Good vision right there. just
leaves it laying for his partner and bam 3-2 lead and research it out front for a shot stopped
by Luc and then at the far post off the boards and now the Capitals with an oddman rush it’s a
twoon-one Samson is back shot off the postin got a little help from his friend there and the sabers
on the counter back the other way with a puck Rink wide pass to the near wall left side and
Krebs will fire it into the Washington zone. Josh Dunn trying to wrap around in front. Second
chance off the post. Payton Krebs entry right side Wilson. Puck will come back to the line and
Carlson for Stro. Womankin standing in his usual spot in the far circle in behind the net with
it. He’s found different ways to score goals as he had his chase of the Wayne Gretzky number
and now looking for another one for the Capitals power play with chicken putting the pressure on
in tight looking to center notir playing it back to the point Koulique putting the pressure on
Washington trying to center it’s off of skate then set behind the net a minute and a half
in the case of La Pierre anyway it’s fired in there’s a chance right in front Lucin with a save
on a broken stick shot and the loose Puck picked up by Buffalo. Getting back between the pipes now.
Good speed by Ross and short side shot is stopped by Charlie Ingred. He loves to find a seam if he
can. Capitals close it down. So Zucker then sends it in front. Thompson with the shot. Nice bit of
passing there by Buffalo for Tage to get that shot away. Is pressured and the Capitals could have
numbers coming the other way. Wilson couldn’t gain the zone. Still a shot coming here on Luc
and he makes the save and the rebound. Goes up in the air and behind the net. grab it behind the
net. Thompson in the far corner got enough to put it behind the net. Then Carlson skates right into
him. Now it’s in front. Chance on the side of the goal and Lingren somehow had enough to keep the
pad down on Zucker who again and is hauled down as he battles for the puck and he’s all by himself
and a nice L getting that right pad down on the ice and not able to let him slide it underneath
him. But he’s under siege there. Just under a minute to go in this period. Capitals back into
the Buffalo zone. Lucan with a saved shot coming from Roy at the point. Back to Roy again. High
slot forced to the wall near side. Takes the shot. That one is stopped. He’ll probably fire
another one to the net. Lots of traffic there. And enough traffic that it gets by Lucin. Here’s a
little shot to the face of why don’t we go here to the point. Sunny Milano right in the hash marks.
just gets a shaft of a stick on it and it just knocks it to the ice and that’s right by him.
Why not? Yeah, you’re clear in the front of the net. That’s see that right there. The puck bounces
and as it bounces it goes right up over the right shoulder of Lucan and thinking this puck is coming
down a lot lower. Yeah, Bandits fans see a lot of those goals. Little bounce shots, not necessarily
deflected though. Referee’s having meetings with players over at the penalty box. Mloud defending.
Capitals keep possession. Here comes Chicken with a shot and Lucan and knocked to the ice as that
play came towards the netari to the far point. That’ll come outside the line. Saber swipe at
it. Here’s Zucker now leaving it for Thompson with a shot. Saved by Lingren. Contage back
in his own zone to defend. Just skates away from Carlson. Walks in and can’t get the second
chance. [Applause] Buffalo not forcing the puck carrier so they stay back. Allows Washington
back in and Ovkin with a shot stopped by Lucin. Alex Ovuchkin in the shootout takes the puck
between the circle by Lucinan. Tried to sneak it in and Lucin closes the door and we continue.
I don’t know if he tried to sneak it or he just lost it. He’s making the move right there.
He tries pulling it back across going to the backhand. And you see the puck get up on the
edge a little bit and just roll off the end of his stick. Number four, Bowen Byum. From Darlene
to Byum. Byum. Circle to the left. Shoot. Scores. You want the job done, you got to put a D
in these situations. They simplify things. shoot the puck and there there was no room
for him to shoot that puck. Excellent shot by Bowen Bar. Ryan Leonard with the puck
now for the Capitals way over to the left wing boards. Walks in deep side by
open and Sabers get the two points. The point trend continues for Buffalo.

Well, they had some really sloppy plays in this game, but I’m glad the Sabres were able to pull through and get a win. This was also a good win for UPL. He played really well in this game. Hopefully, this win will boost his confidence.
Let’s go Rosen!!!!!
We miss you in Rochester, but boohoo go sabres!
⚔️
Everybody acting like Buffalo is Doodoo brown but they are on a 6 or 7 game point steak.
One actual loss in the past 9 games.
