It’s just a really consistent effort uh right from the drop of the puck. You know, obviously going down early. I just thought there was no panic in our room. I thought we played the way that um you know, we need to play to be successful over 60 minutes and I thought it showed tonight. Goes through your mind when you see Chris go down like that. Yeah, it’s a tough uh tough feeling. Obviously, he’s such a integral part of this team and a guy that brings so much experience and anytime um you know, they’re bringing out a stretcher, it’s never uh a good feeling uh deep inside. So, we’re all obviously thinking about him and and and praying for him and hoping for the best and um you know, hopefully it’s nothing too serious, but you never like seeing that happen. Did he say anything to you when you went over there? Like, could he talk or uh I didn’t he didn’t say anything to us. How difficult was that to just get that collective breath going and continue resuming? Yeah, it’s tough. I mean, we’re all human, so you know, there’s definitely an emotional side of that seeing a guy go down like that and um you know, it’s it’s just tough. So, it’s you know, you got to try to get yourself back in the game. Obviously, we had a power play and uh the game just kind of feels uh you know, stagnant at that point. Um you know, something like that happening, but like I said, uh you know, happy with this the consistent effort over the full 60 minutes tonight and um grinding out this win and um you know, we’ll be thinking about Tanny here and um you know, hoping it’s nothing too serious. What do you make of how Nick Robertson who’s been kind of up and down on your line but still in the lineup, how how you guys kind of connected there and and his shot as well? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean he’s got a great shot. Um, super heavy and very accurate and when you give him time and space like that, he can obviously make you pay like you saw tonight. But, uh, I think the chemistry has been growing each game. I mean, he works really hard. He’s fast. He’s tenacious on pucks. He wins battles and, um, you know, I thought we, uh, we definitely jelled really well tonight. A lot of good opportunities and just played a simple game, but just kind of led with our work ethic and let the skill take over when we had opportunity to. To see, um, Eastston, you know, for the group to kind of take in a neat moment there. What was that like? Yeah, that was great. um you know, he’s had a lot of good opportunities over the last couple weeks and um you know, he wants to score and uh I thought tonight he was all over it shooting the puck and getting really good opportunities. So, it was great to see that that happened and that puck go. Obviously, we’re all um super pumped for him and you know, definitely a cool moment. And how it feel to get that first one under here? Yeah, felt good. I mean, I felt like, you know, the last couple games I’ve had a lot of chances, so just stuck with it and felt good to go in and get the win here. You said you feel like it was time. It was just a matter of time at that point, but like as each game passed along, you felt like you were kind of getting closer and closer to that. Yeah. I mean, obviously, it’s a mental grind. You know, you want to you want to score and the first however many games I played, I didn’t score. So, just stuck within practice, kept getting better, and I’m going to keep doing that. And just, you know, it’s just felt like it was just going to be a matter of time. You know, I stuck with it, kept my chances, and it felt good that that one went in for sure. Your emotion was evident, but so too is your linemates and John. And that has to feel great knowing what he’s done. Knowing that you guys got to kind of share a pretty cool moment together. Yeah, for sure. I mean, you know, I lived with him a bunch. So, just to be able to share that moment with him was awesome. I mean, what a play by him. Um, just an unreal player and an even better guy. What do you imagine you’ll do with the puck? I got a room back at home, so I’ll put it there. I’m sure my mom will will want it there. I haven’t even talked to her yet, so I’m pretty sure she’s pumped. Maybe I’ll give her a call before I get on the plane. Have you looked at the phone yet? I checked it out a bit. Uh yeah, a bunch of texts. I mean, yeah. Yeah, it was I mean, what a feeling. I mean, especially for your hometown team, you know, I wouldn’t wouldn’t want to play anywhere else. That’s for sure. Was there someone that maybe in your quick look? I know you’ve been busy, but that you looked at that kind of registered like, “Oo, that’s good to hear from that person again.” Um, yeah, a couple guys from London. I mean, my girlfriend texted me, too. And uh, you know, just a lot of family members, too. It’s just it’s just cool and that just shows how much support I have at home and I wouldn’t be here without any of them. That’s for sure. What did you make of how the team played collectively, you know, given the way things were kind of going in the games leading up to it. I felt like this game we just played direct. We played very north hockey and that helped us out a lot. Um, you know, we were hard on the forward check, good on the back check, finishing our checks and finishing your checks doesn’t mean like you’re blowing guys up. It’s just, you know, through the hands, you know, little stuff like that is annoying for D and players all night. So, if we just stick with that, we’ll be more than fine. Chris Tanniff, one of the toughest guys in the whole sport. What goes through your mind when you see him down the ice like that? Yeah, obviously you don’t want to see anyone like that. That’s very, you know, scary and, you know, just hoping for the best for him. Uh, you never want to see anyone like that for sure. Team play. Yeah, I thought um I thought we were a little slow at the start, but um got got to our game. You know, I way more direct tonight. I thought that our forward checkuck was really good. Our ozone play was good. Just our PK was really good tonight. Um, you know, I thought we had a lot of people contributing tonight in the game. And our goalie was really good. How’s Chris? Yeah, he’s just getting some more tests done now, but um, you know, he’s moving and, you know, I think he’ll be all right. But he’s getting some tests done right now, so we’ll know more in a little while. Is he is he at a hospital or is he Yeah, he’s getting some some test done. He’ll stay here. Well, I don’t know yet. We’re going to see. So, we’ll know soon. He might be coming home with us. Oh, yeah. Good. Yeah. On a lighter note. Uh maybe just what you saw from East. Well, he’s Yeah, he you know, he he he had a hell of a game tonight. Just the way he hung on the pucks and made plays and competed on the puck and his stick details. He he had a lot of good things tonight. He was a really good player tonight uh for us. Same thing with Mick Robertson. give him another shot on that top line back two point games. What did you like about him and how he fit on that line? I think, you know, Robbie, he just it’s effort, right? You know, if you look back and uh before he scored that goal, he had two big blocks in our zone. You know, just his speed and his shot are dangerous obviously, but u his work work ethic drives everything for me with him. Why has it taken him so long to get a a longer look in the top six? Well, I just don’t think I’m, you know, it’s not about that so much. I don’t think, you know, last year, you know, he was basically on mostly a third line player, but power play and stuff. And then this year, we’ve got different players and different things. So, we gave him a look up there and, you know, he’s doing a good job. You know, it’s not about us, you know, not giving them a shot up there. It’s just, you know, these guys, it’s where they’re slotted, you know, and so we had some different people this year. And um you know he’s gone up there and done a good job.

Cowboy looks like a proper, dangerous NHLer, Matthews has remembered he has a wrist shot…
Other than our best defensee going down with a repeat head injury on a blindside hit, great night.
why can't he say he was pissed and angry for the cheap shot? Why be so wishy-washy about it? Not captain material.
Hey Toronto Maple Leafs and leafs fans and leafs nations , we are tied game , blue Jays 4-4 dodgers in game 7
I love how they kept the after game interview short, so the leafs can watch the jays game! Love them for thattt
Very worried for Tanev for how he went down and I hope he gets well soon. Good job on your first nhl goal cowboy! Keep up the good work
Well, we need to pull it together boys for Chris. Hopefully he’s not out for long hopefully nothing major happen to him. We’re all pulling for you, buddy and the boys got to win for you. Hopefully you’re not out for long but you know life is more important than hockey. Goleafs
The team has already said he'll be fine and shouldn't miss any time. Glad he wasn't really hurt, great player and a great guy. Congrats Easton, many more to come young fella. Good win tonight, different looking team when they've almost got a full roster. Robbie looked geeat, leaned on a couple of Flyers won some board battles and doesn't waste any time, no lazy back checks a very solid game. Putting Nylander back in and look out they're looking like a dangerous team. Hopefully Joe comes back to full health and picks up from last year. 🙏 Stolie stood extra tall, he was great tonight 2nd goal was a little tough but that performance is more of what we expect, he's 2.50 G.A.A. or less goaltender when he's on.
