I found this on r/bengals and thought it would be interesting to r/bears as well. We pretty much could've had any of them other than Abdul Carter and we took none of them. TBF, I don't recall seeing any of these names on many mock drafts other than Mykel Williams on some.

  1. The top guy has 2 whole sacks… None of these guys would make a lick of difference at least not this season. And if we’re not talking about helping this year than what is there to even discuss? Loveland hasn’t done much but he was one of the youngest players in the draft and missed all of camp due to shoulder surgery.

Maybe he’s a bust or maybe he’s a future HoFer, nobody knows. Right now though none of those pass rushers screams “wow, Bears blew it”

  2. There was definitely a time close to the draft when some people were talking up the possibility of Stewart to the Bears. It was around the same time as a bunch of articles about how Dennis Allen likes his Edges to be big dudes.

He’s not had a preseason and he’s in a bad situation, but at this early stage it doesn’t look like we’re missing out on much.

Personally, I liked a few of these guys, particularly Ezeiruaku with one of our seconds (I thought Scourton would be gone by then but would have been happy with him too) or Burch in the third, though I wouldn’t have expected him to help much with the pass rush which we obviously need.

The problems with the line go way beyond missing out on one of these rookies though.

Edit: I should add that I also thought Landon Jackson would be decent and he can’t even get on the field at the moment.

  3. Read somewhere that the top 11 DE/DT/OLB pass rushers drafted have a combined 7 sacks between them
