Habs UNBEATEN in OT, Formula Not Ideal, But it’s WORKING So Far…
Man, I’m glad we drafted that guy. The Montreal Canadians win another game in overtime. Wow, this thing is becoming a regular thing. Now, as the title mentions, I mean, this is not an ideal winning formula. This is not a sustained winning formula, except the fact that when the Canadians get to overtime, they won every single time this season. So, it’s nice. It’s appreciated, but it’s not necessarily a formula that you want to try and copy every single game. All right. Okay. Well, the point being though is that the Canadians won this game. We’re going to do it in a one taker here tonight. Today, guys, because as you can see, getting to the game a lot later. The World Series went really late last night. Lots of tears in Toronto. And uh all I can say is that’s that’s a hard loss. Yes, I’m technically a Blue Jays fan. I I know so many more people that are bigger Blue Jays fans than I am. So, I’m just going to say that that my heart goes out to you. My wife and I loved watching baseball together. It’s the one game she loves to watch and uh we spent a lot of quality time watching it. And so, heart goes out to you if you’re a Jays fan. If you’re not, that’s cool. But either way, no matter what sport you watch, no matter what team you cheer for, that’s a tough thing to lose in extra in overtime or extra innings in game seven of the World Series. That’s hard. That’s hard stuff, man. I digress, though. So, these Montreal Canadians did not disappoint in a regular season last night. They remain first in the Atlantic Division, two points ahead of the Detroit Red Wings. They are 9 and3 on the season. And uh Cole Cfield, congratulations by the way on winning the Molson Cup for the best player in October because I mean obviously it’s it’s Cole Caulfield. He had an amazing amazing October with three overtime winners. A guy that just played out of his mind and absolutely dominated for the Canadians in the first month of the season here. So that was fun to see and congratulations to Cole. So this game was uh a little overshadowed of course by the World Series, but nonetheless the Canadians still were able to take care of business. Sam Montebo getting the start in this game. The Canadians were out actually outshot Ottawa 27-7 and Monty led in three goals in those 17 shots. So, it wasn’t an ideal night for him in in terms of save percentage. It was still for Monty an 824 save percentage in the win over Ottawa last night. Still not ideal numbers because I mean Yakob Doves is 6 and0 on the season. He’s gone to overtime a few times also. However, uh this is not a sustained necessarily uh percentage that you you want to see from Sam Montbo. Though defensively, Montreal clearly limited the amount of shots. And honestly, I didn’t really dislike like almost any of the goals against Montbo. The first goal uh from Bath there, I mean, the puck bounces off the side of the net. It goes to Valeno. He backhands it right back to Bath and he puts it in. So, can’t really fault Monty on that one. The second goal was disputed for goalie interference. It was not over. Actually, it was overturned because initially they called it no goal. They actually did call it no goal but the it looks like you know Giru was able to get out of the crease and Monty they felt was able to reset and therefore that goal counted from uh Michael Amadio but kind of understood that one. It was a few years ago when Brendan Gallagher did a similar thing where he was kind of bumped into the Ottawa goalender. It was still Ottawa. This is in 2021 during the co time and um Gallagher reset himself and then the puck went in. So I’d like to see this be a more consistent thing if anything because obviously GI didn’t win that one and he gave us a great quote after the game about how the refs show the players talk about calls before the season. So anyway, I just hope that they get it right going forward beyond just that one. But I digress. Uh into the third period and uh leader of the diving team, Timmy Stutla, he gets the third, sorry, his sixth of the season and the third goal for Ottawa in this game. a nice backhand goal and uh you know Gary Galley pointed on the broadcast he thinks no adoption should have came over and helped Mat. Mat you know kind of lost Stutzel in this one. Stutza was able to get past him. It was a great bank pass off the wall from uh Drake Bathson or or Tyler Cleven actually to get it to Stutsa for that goal. That was just a great great soft hands backhand goal on Montbo. And then you got Ivan Demidov, right? You got this guy with his third of the season from Lane Hudson on a play where Lane just jumped on the ice and the Canadians were creating some good sustained offensive zone pressure. Demidov is on the ice trying to shake his check on the boards. He gets it to Matson. Matson to Demidov to Hudson to Demidov and they tie the game. And then we get to overtime and Demidov is actually it doesn’t even say he’s credited with the assist. He’s not because it was a giveaway, right? Bath gave the puck away to Alex New Hook and New Hook does the rest for his fifth of the season. How about Alex New Hook? How about the season he’s having right now? It’s obviously a big talking point for a player that had underwhelmed up to this point. I mean, so far in his NHL career, New Hook has five goals, four assists, nine points in 10, 11, 12 games for the Canadians this season. And his careerhigh with the Canadians is 34 points in 55 games. So, he’s already ahead of that pace so far this season. So, good for Alex New Hook. That’s a big time overtime goal. You can see how happy he was. And uh Demidov kind of helped create that board play where the puck was turned over to New Hook because Demov was against the boards kind of battling with some senators players there and the puck just you know it was a blind pass and actually Caulfield got away with a blind pass in his own zone earlier in the game or sorry later in the game in the third peri made the save. So a similar play that Caulfield’s backhand and Bath’s backhand were both giveaways only. New hook cashed in on his thank goodness. Five goals in his last four games for Cole Cfield. Just outstanding. Outstanding. Lane. Lane Hudson has one goal, 10 assists, 11 points in 12 games this season. Nick Suzuki continues his point streak, ladies and gentlemen. 11ame point streak. Nick Suzuki has 18 points in 12 games, ladies and gentlemen. 11ame point streak, mind you, but two goals, 16 assists. 18 points in 12 games for Nick Suzuki. Marvelous. Marvelous stuff. We saw a big time hit from Zachary Bullduk on McDermott which McDermott challenged Arborji to fight and Arborjackey shoot him off again. I know Arbor Jackai shoot off um Ryan Reeves last year against the Leafs and then it kind of looked bad because the Canes then lost 7-3 at home that night. They won this game so that doesn’t really matter but uh just you know seeing him wave him off but Joe Valeno got in a fight in this game. He got in a fight with Tyler Cleven and got some good left jabs in there. We didn’t even talk about your Slavsky, right? I mentioned Cole Coughfield getting his 10th, but Slavs Slavovsky has his sixth goal of the season. And the Canadians power play, may I tell you folks, is sixth in the NHL, clicking at 28.6%. Is it? Is that the Is that the stat I pulled up? So, it it’s a much better looking power play. That no look backhand from Nick Suzuki, I mean, the pass from uh Caulfield first to Nick and then the no look backhand to Slav tic-tac-toe. this power play with Ivan Demidov and Lane Hudson on it. It just creates so much and Nick Suzuki and Cole Coughfield are obviously awesome and Slavovsky is cashing in on how good his support team is around him. So, I got to say that uh I’m proud to see Slavowski. That’s his fourth power play goal of the season, I think it is. So, just a great night for the Canadians overall. And uh I’m going to be at the game. I’m going to Montreal next Saturday. Papadiks and myself will be going to see the Utah Mammoth who are flying high like the Canadians. I expect it to be a really entertaining game. Little nervous for how good Utah’s been playing so far, but I really expect it to be a great matchup with Logan Culie just signing his big extension. And that draft class, I mean, Lane Hudson, Elliot Freeman just said should have gone top two in that draft. We got him 62nd. And we know Slavowski went first and Kulie went third. But I I expect the Utah game to be there. I expect it to be a high octane offensive game and I hope Doves gets a start for that one. But between now and then, the Canadians will face the Flyers. They will face the Devils and then we’ll head to Montreal literally to watch that game. So, uh, I want to hear your comments on this game, guys. I got this one got to this one a lot later than normal, but I want to thank you for the support so far. Hit like and subscribe. Hit, uh, join to join the Deequ Squad if you want to support the channel. Welcome to the new members that have joined the Deequ Squad. Thank you so much for your support. It’s so appreciated. and you guys are the best. God bless you. God love you. And a final word to my uh Christian brothers and sisters in Nigeria that are going through some heavy persecution. Our church prayed for you this morning. And um you guys know that I’m a Christian and it’s uh not easy to see and hear about this stuff amidst all the news and sports and all the distractions that we have every day. So, I just want to say my heart and prayers go out to them and and it’s just uh it’s hard to see that. You know, it’s brothers and sisters in the faith and uh there’s no place for it and I’m praying for reinforcement to come in and help them and I know that they will. So, uh just wanted to throw that in there. I know it’s not a happy way to end this video, but I have to say it. I’m irresponsible to me not to say something when it’s on my heart. So, thank you guys. God bless you. God love you. Love your neighbor as yourself. Thank you so much, guys.

VIDEO OMMISSION: I didn't even see the Struble/Cousins fight until AFTER I uploaded the video. Struby did well defending that dirty slash from Cousins on Demidov from the pre-season. Love how this team sticks up for each other and it doesn't always need to be Arber! ANDDDDDDD Bolduc hit SANDERSON not McDermaid, GEEEEZ! (hockey junkie reference) My bad, friends… :/
I am very happy Newhook got the goal! Habs must, however, try to win in regulation time. Overtime, they always run the risk of losing.
I get that it’s not sustainable winning games in OT after blowing Leafs all the time. However, is it just me or they’re always getting a FLUKY goal scored against them in almost every game. I guarentee with the quality of the game they played, if you played this game 10 times, they would’ve EASILY won in regulation 9 times out of 10. Go Habs Go!
The boys are clicking along right now. Like to see fewer OT games and bracing myself for the inevitable slump that has to come sooner or later. But for now they are showing us some great hockey ! This ones for you Dekes ; Matheson is playing better as of late but that tying goal was as much on him as it was on Dodson. Matheson as he so often does was late getting back after getting caught too deep in Ottawas end. Mc Dermot or whatever his name is is due for an attitude adjustment. And good on Arber for resisting the temptation last night. When we're comfortably in the lead is the right time to tune him up. GHG
We are winning in OT like it’s 1993 again.
If you go in overtime for the 82 games….. You will have a minimum of 82 points….on that 82 overtimes if you win 20 of them(1/4) you finish with 102 points!!!
Not a So "not ideal" way to go in playoffs!!
Slafkovsky Juray is a big and strong player, he was selected for the playoffs.
Can't keep going to the well, comes back and bites you. Blowing a 3 and 2 goal leads in back to back games? I'll give them a pass, young team and hopefully can correct it. As for Monty, first 2 goals not his fault but the third should have never gone in. A good outcome after all.
Привет из России, у Монреаля супер молодежь, заставьте их работать, они могут больше, я верю
Praying for our Christian brothers and sisters in Nigeria and Sudan. 🙏
Leafs will break that OT streak Go leafs Go woo lol
Matheson is a beast. Pointe-Claire is proud of that guy!
Happy Habs are winning, but they need to win in regulation and not always in OT.
Bolduc didn’t check McDermid…
But McDermid did take exception to that check
Could it be the Habs have the personnel for three on three?
We appreciate the compassion and empathy you feel towards the horrors that occur each day around the world. It is one thing if it is a disaster caused by Mother Nature, but tragedies created by decisions by humans against other humans, is truly incomprehensible to understand. Always follow your heart Andrew, plus it's your channel, you do you! As for the game, as you said, not the greatest way to win games but hey, we'll take it. I give credit to MSL giving Monty the net against Ott…he needs to get Monty's confidence back…not the greatest game for him but a win will help. MSL knows he needs Monty to have a successful season. As for the Stuzle goal…I agree Dobson has to come support Matheson…but these guys are still getting use to playing with one another…Dobson still not impressing me with his defense BUT, as time goes on, you can tell he is settling in so I'm giving it time. I feel Evans is really struggling so far this season…showing he is missing his partner Armia, and you can tell he Is still adjusting to playing w/Anderson & Gally. My hot take…with all the talk about Mtl needing a 2C…I think Hughes should work on finding help for the bottom 6 instead. As much as I had hoped Veleno would find his game…he is doing in Mtl what he has shown w/his other teams he's played on…flashes of high end skill, but the hockey sense/IQ is just not there. Bolduc needs a talented C to partner with…Dach has shown flashes, but that has been his MO since he's been a Hab. Patience is still the focus with Dach, but I feel that patience will quickly run out before the season is over. I feel the 2nd line is fine w/Kapanen, Demidov & Newhook…altho I'll keep harping on wishing to see Bolduc w/Demidov. It's unfortunate Gally who was given an offensive opportunity at the start of the season is back to being a bottom 6 player in MSL's eyes. Gally has definitely lost a step, but his heart & soul always bleeds bleu, blanc, rouge. I thought Xhekaj had himself a solid game…kept it simple, showed smarts not going after Cousins or accepting MacDermids fight request w/the score 2-0. We definitely miss Guhle but credit Xhekaj & Struble for doing a pretty good job till his return. This month of Nov will be super interesting to watch, starting Nov 8 vs NJ…watching this team play against more experienced, better structured teams, and more physical will be a big test in my eyes. It will either glaringly show the weaknesses this team has OR, that this team truly has taken another step forward…we shall soon see! Enjoy your trip to Montreal DD! Say Bonjour to Demidov for me! 😉 Go Habs Go!
