lots of noise around stamkos the last few days

  1. I admittedly was part of the group that loved the signing at first. The rush of being at work on day 1 of free agency and getting notifications for Stamkos, Marchessault, and Skjei, rated as 3 of the top 5 free agents that year, was electric. Seeing the contracts after made it sting a little, but still, all those big names at once seemed like it *had* to boost our roster.

And then we all know what happened. So as much as I wanted it to work out and for one of the best hockey players in my lifetime to help us win a cup, I think at this point if an opportunity to move him for a decent but not embarrassingly bad return, you take that

  2. After one year Preds are already eating salary? This should be the end of the Trotz experiment

  3. Behind Pekka, Stamkos is my all time favorite player. He’s why I constantly whiff on one timers. Now trade him.

  4. All honestyy What would be a fair trade? Would Stammer waiver nmc? TnB would be good. He just bought a “2nd” home there this month.

What does Vancover have to offer? Would kiffer want to come back?

With Canandians What are they willing to n part w in rebuild?

    How much to retain?

  5. If you can trade him for a bag of pucks and no salary retained, do it now. I don’t know if the guy is washed or just a terrible fit, but if we could part ways without salary retained, that’s a no-brainer.

  6. I would be cool with trading him for anything, no matter the retention. Would free up a roster spot for a young guy who would probably score more.

  7. I actually listened to the 32 Thoughts podcast and almost posted it but Friedman doesn’t actually say anything. He effectively just said that Stamkos clearly isn’t working out in Nashville and he wonders if he’ll be traded. Then they talk about one or two teams that may want him. Merek is basically doing the same thing.

It’s a lot of A+B=C. Friedman did the same thing last year with Marchessault to Toronto or something.

Right now I could see a couple of teams being interested but I could also see Stamkos not wanting to move his family all the way to Vancouver just to play 2 more years of hockey. If he goes anywhere at the deadline it’s probably only back to Tampa. IDK just personal feeling there. He will likely decide to move next summer but probably after interviewing teams and consulting with his “people.” He’s got 3 kids, and 2 are in school. He’s got all the money and success in the world. I don’t see him wrapping up his career as a journeyman.

  8. Hopefully they can add Evangelista as part of the package to get him moved too. I really don’t get this subs love for him while he loses every puck battle but hates on other guys for fanning one 1 timers.

  9. I really think you need to change the coaching staff first. Do you want Stamkos to thrive someplace else and, through the process of elimination, for us all to realize it was Burnett all along?
