The New York Islanders got two goals late to beat Columbus 3-2 as Matthew Schaefer aded 2 goals
The New York Islanders scored two goals in 29 seconds in the final minute of the game to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 3-2. Matthew Schaefer, the rookie sensation with two more goals in this game. And I’ll tell you, this is a game the Islanders probably should have won by more. They controlled the tempo. They dominated play, outshot the Blue Jackets for almost all of the game, but had trouble finishing. But at least the Islanders come away with two late clutch goals to get the W. And quite honestly, the last two games for the Islanders, their two best team defensive games, and that is something that they definitely needed to clean up if they were going to have more success this season. So, two division wins over the weekend, a very productive weekend as the Islanders get back on track. For more in-depth daily coverage of your New York Islanders, check out the Locked On Islanders

This was a great example of why you you have to play a full 60 mins as a team.
Thanks Gil, we must beat boston Tuesday & climb the standings!💙🧡
Schaefer amazing
Schaefers development is the number one priority but winning games is great too!
So deserved. Felt like the officials did all they could to assist Columbus get back in the game. We deserved the win, and was such a great feeling winning it in the dying minute.
Schaefer most goals for a Defender this season. Youngest D-Man with multipoint goals.
Sweet. Real sweet. Schaffer’s instincts are off the charts
The Golden Child Matt Schaefer continues to amaze. Kid has has quite a shot. Confident as hell, too. LGI!
Let’s go Isles!!!
I was at tonites games. You can’t put a kind spin on this game. The isles played hot for 5 minutes and then went to sleep for the next 50. The malaise is still there. Felt like I was watching the isles of the previous 2 seasons. How a team can dominate for first 5 min and then flick a switch and go to sleep? Lots of empty seats. Isles were as clumsy as ever getting puck out of their zone. Get this malaise gone. Dump more players from the last 3 seasons. FFS. Have a bus parked outside. The bottom 3 players with weakest effort go to Bridgeport. Roy needs to whip this team into shape already. Win or die trying. They got lucky in last minute but don’t expect that again. I’m glad I skipped season tickets this year. I bought 2 nice tickets for less than half price. The best player on the ice was 18 yrs old. Hmmm. Do we need to fire the defensive coordinator?
They deserved to win this game anyway they completely outplay Columbus for most of it
Great 60 min effort. Don't quit attitude. The Kid is definitely the spark we needed
That first period was just amazing play by everyone. Schaefer did a great job on the power play and then he saved us late in the 3rd to tie it up! First sorokin has a good game and now Rittich! It feels good keeping everyone to 2 goals or less! Definitely one of the more exciting games! LGI!!
