The Celtics are Secretly GENIUS…
The Boston Celtics plan is secretly genius because yes, while this team is not looking good, they’re three and four, they’re probably not going to be winning a championship this year, it probably ensures that Jason Tatum doesn’t try to come back and be a hero towards the end of the year and risk reinjury. It also allows for them to get pretty much a one-year tryyout with guys like their rookie Hugo Gonzalez, Josh Mina, who they brought in on a one-year deal, Anthony Simons, who is on an expiring contract, and then guys like Namias Kada and Baylor Shyron, who they already had in the franchise. And then next year, when Tatum comes back, they’re automatic contenders again. And then the big prize for the Celtics would be getting like a top three pick, getting lucky in the lottery. But obviously without Tatum this year, they’re not going to be that good. 26.8 28 points a game, nine rebounds, six assists, one steal in 36 minutes. They shot 45% from the field, 34% from three last year on about 10 attempts. I still think he took way too many threes. Um, but he’s still just 27 years old. Uh, 27 going on 19 actually. And fitting into this timeline with guys like Jaylen Brown and Derrick White still. So, they still have another four or five years together. Pritchard still some of that same core that won a championship, but with some other pieces. Jaylen Brown will be here for a while. He’s actually having a pretty good year. This is his year to kind of go out and show what he can do as a number one option and he’s going out and doing it so far through now seven games is the sample size for this video. But he’s averaging 25.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and shooting 54% from the field and 46% from three on six attempts. And keep in mind, JB is still just 29 years old. So still a guy that is right in the middle of his prime. Plenty of time to continue to build around him and using this as a year where if they go three and four, he’s still going to be balling, but he’s going to be able to get some time off and not going to be needed to play every single night. But the stack draft class this year really helps the Celtics out because if you get a top three pick, you can get a guy like AJ Deansa, 6’9 with a 7-1 wingspan, very good athlete, as you saw right there in that clip, driving downhill. Um the left hand doesn’t seem too great as he’s finishing with his right hand on the left side of the basket. But other than that, he’s a pretty elite scorer like right here getting downhill a little. That’s advanced for a freshman in college. Um a freshman in college that just started the season a couple of months ago. By the way, uh his jumper looks very smooth as you can see here. Hopping into his shot, knocking it down. It’s on the left side of his body a little bit, but overall the mechanics up top look very solid. no left thumb and the right hand looks pretty solid as well on that jumper. As for the defense, he’s got good enough athleticism to be able to recover on some things where, you know, if he gets beat back door or something. There’s also Cam Boozer in this class at 69 with a 7 foot wingspan. I think Deans would be cooler for the Celtics because he’s a a New England native, but Boozer is also a stud coming from that Duke pipeline to Boston, the same where Jason Tatum came from. Um, he’s got the three ball a little bit. He’s looked like a stud. He put up like 33 and 14 in this exhibition and then went off in the Tennessee exhibition as well. So, both times we’ve got to see him. He’s looked like an absolute dominant force. Um, driving once again right here, finishing with the left. And then right here, the short roll playmaking is such a big role for a player that’s going to be working out of the pick and roll. And that’s what we see some of these point forwards doing today. He gets it on the roll. They throw it to him short and Patrick and Gongba or actually it’s not Gongba. I don’t even know who that is. Rolls right to the rim and Boozer finds him. Uh and then right here just battling on the boards getting his own rebound. The final guy here, Darren Peterson from Kansas at 6’5 with a 610 wingspan, more of a true guard compared to the other two who are pretty much like point forwards or modern-day forwards. But Peterson’s shooting is beautiful. Um, the stroke is nice, Paul’s. Uh, but the form looks good. His athleticism is pretty solid. And like I said, he’s more of a scoring guard, while the other two are point forward. So, the finishing is there as well. Watch the cut right here. Um, finishing at the rim. And, you know, it’s 6’5 with a 610 wingspan. He’s got that NBA frame to play the two guard and go out there and be a scorer. Very similar to like an Anthony Edwards frame. Even got a little bit of passing right here throwing the lob up top. Now, as for the rest of the Celtics, let’s not get carried away in what they could potentially go out and get in this draft class. They have Derek White, who is averaging 15 points a game so far this year. Four assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 32 minutes per game. His splits have been horrific so far. So, I’m not too worried about him because he’s got a pretty good track record by now of shooting efficiently. We’re not worried about the shooting splits. It’s just a little bit of a slump to open up the season. and he’s the number two option this year, which is very different from last year where he was getting 12.6 attempts per game. This year, he’s getting almost 17 field goal attempts per game. Working out of the pick and roll a little bit, although this was a clip from last year, but this is kind of the role we’re being able to see him play more as that number two guard, that number two shot maker. Um, Peyton Pritchard, another guy that’s gotten off to a slow start from three this year, a very slow start from three this year. Uh even even though everything else has been pretty solid as he’s finally getting to play starting point guard, 14.6 points a game, 5.6 assist, and four rebounds, shooting 41% from the field, and 18% from three. As you can see here, yes, off to a very slow start. But just like Derek White, he’s not getting as or he’s getting way more attempts. Three more shots per game. And while that doesn’t seem like a lot, at the end of the day, it really is when it comes to now he’s like the third or fourth option instead of being the sixth or seventh option. As you can see here, 93% of the people that watch these videos are not subscribed to the channel. If that’s you, go ahead and fix that. Now, let’s take a look at their one-year tryyout players. First being Anthony Simons. Of course, Simons comes over from the Portland Trailblazers, and you know, he learned behind Damen Lillard for quite a while out there. And that’s very resemblant in his play. 14 points a game, 2.4 assists, shooting 41% from the field and 40% from three on seven attempts. Joe Mazula already loves him because he’s shooting 40% from three on seven attempts. And that’s just what they love to do is chuck up a ton of threes. And sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, but he’s on an expiring contract. So, the Celtics are going to have a decision to make whether, you know, you can move him at the deadline to a team that wants to go ahead and extend him or you can keep him around because he fits into the timeline with Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Either way, he’s a guy that can go out and make tough shots. The field goal percentage kind of concerns me though. Now, as for Josh Mayard, he’s a guy that I think the Celtics have found a hidden gem in. Sure, his efficiency hasn’t been great, but he plays with such effort and enthusiasm. 8.3 points a game, 6.8 8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 steals in just 22 minutes a game. Yes, he’s only shooting 43% from the field, and 30% from three. But it could just be, you know, a quick sevengame sample size. So, he’s he’s started off slow. 6’9 with a 7 foot wingspan. And keep in mind, he’s still only 23 years old. Never really got a bunch of minutes with the Timberwolves. So, now that the Celtics are kind of throwing him into the lineup, he’s getting baptism by fire and he’s playing pretty well. Sam Hower is another guy here. He has been with the team for a while, won the championship, but he’s on a four-year $45 million contract. So, he could be, you know, an expandable asset this off season if teams would look to take him if the Celtics are going to try and use that money elsewhere. Now, Kada has been really solid, more than solid. He’s going to be their backup center at least next year, maybe their starter. 8.3 points a game, 7.6 rebounds, 1.7 assist, and 1.6 blocks, 63% shooting from the field. and he’s not old either. He’s in like his third or fourth NBA season after bouncing around a couple of times and at just 26 years old still could have some development um before it comes time for him to hit his peak. Hua Gonzalez has only played in five of the games so far and in those games he’s not playing a ton of minutes. So really a little bit too early to judge him and that draft pick yet. But hopefully there is a lot of potential still left in the tank. As for Baylor Shyman, I’m kind of running out of time on him. He’s 25 years old now. He’s played in six games so far this year and he’s only averaging about nine minutes per game and shooting less than 35% from the field and less than 25% from three. It’s been a rough rough go at it for him. Now, as for Luca Garza, he’s actually been pretty solid. So, maybe could be a guy that could make some noise in the rotation this year. We’ll see. It’ll it’ll kind of be, you know, a a see as it goes type of thing. But hopefully the Celtics can get lucky for their sake in the lottery. With that being said, that’s going to be it for today’s video. Thanks so much for watching. I was expecting the Celtics to tank but I'm still upset when they lose. Lol.
AJ is from Brockton btw which is 30 mins away from Boston. This is the move!! They blew the Knicks series and faked Tatum injury for this kid. So they can go 2 years with the new big 3 and all the role players they’re developing now. 😂 genius
Pritchard and white magically can’t shoot now. 😂 bruh Celtics definitely tanking for AJ. Tatum faked that injury and I said the Knicks series was rigged right away. D white wasn’t even trying, I saw this dude go for a lay up with out bumpin the dude behind him or doing one of his finishes. He NEVER does regular lay ups when people behind him!! A bunch of things like this and I knew it was rigged.
Bro Hauser not going anywhere. That’s Tatums favorite bench players. Dude bailed out the Celtics too many times and he can D up. The other night he scored 20 pts like it was nothing. Too valuable
Tatum alone ain't bringing this team into Playoff contention. They need more help.
They need a center.
