Welcome back to First Take here live in Arlington, Texas. And the reason we are here is because the Cowboys play tonight. They’re going to host the Arizona Cardinals. Now, Arizona did announce that Jacobe Brassette will pick up the start. Kyler Murray dealing with a foot injury. It’s kept him out the past two weeks. However, Murray has not been officially ruled out of the game. Keep that in mind. Heading into week nine, Dak Prescott ranked in the top five of QBR completion percentage and passing touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, Dallas is allowing over 31 points per game, making them the fourth team in the Super Bowl era to score 30 points per game and allow 30 points per game over the first eight games of the season. And maybe you guys know this guy, the one and only Michael Irvin is here with us on First Take. Yes, I am. What’s up, my people out? Hey, y’all see y’all see all these 88s out here in the crowd? Okay, that’s what we That makes me feel like maybe you’re a little bit more confident in what are you more confident in the Cowboys offense or are you more worried about the defense? I just gave you a stat on how offense I am absolutely worried about the defense, but more confident in the offense than I am worried about the defense. We’ve seen a brand of football that Daquavius Prescott has never played with. But the thing is this lying. The thing is this, he has to protect the football. But the defense cannot put him in position to stress. Now stress is down by two touchdowns or down by two scores. That’s stress. Down by one, we had the whole offense that we could still attack the defense with. And when you see uh previous games of what just happened, that’s not what you want from from D. Just a little side. Just just a little little sign here. A couple little things to bring up. Number one. Number one, the Arizona Cardinals have won seven of the last eight against the Cowboys. Let’s just remember that. This is hilarious. This I couldn’t wait to read this to you. Do y’all know that the Cowboys defense allowing 52% on third down conversions is the worst rate in the 21st century. The 21st century. That’s how bad. And by the way, Shay, I don’t know because you know what? You on top of your stuff, but you know, you’ve been very, very busy. You got a lot of responsibilities. You might have missed that tweet from a couple of weeks ago where somebody went on X and said, “Yo, I’ve never seen a a a defense that has so many people open. It was him. He tweeted Michael on next about his own Cowboys.” But I’m sure we won that game cuz Dak was killing him. You see what I’m saying? Actually, you did it. Actually, you didn’t. any game on the road we might also. Let me ask you that. I’m more confident in the offense. You rattled off the defense. It’s the number one offense in the NFL pass game wise. It’s the number two offense in yards per game wise. It’s the number two offense points wise. Michael helps to let me ask you this honestly. Who’s the best receiver duo in the NFL right now? The Dallas Cowboys. I agree. Now listen. And that’s as good as Jamar and Tia are. Right. Right. But they got a quarterback throwing it to him. I’m with that. But I disagree with you that Dak’s got to protect the football. me. Daniel, dude, you’re not going to You do that. You can’t You can’t You can’t with this defense. You can’t be careful with the ball. You got to be overly aggressive. You got You got to put Yes, you do. That’s what they want you to think, Dak Quavius. He needs to score 40. He has to do that. See, that’s the pressure. That’s It’s going to happen naturally. But that’s real. You have so many stars and studs on that offensive side of football. Just let it Well, as my dog Stephen Anthony say, it has to be fluid. Lay back. Let it flow. When you start to f When you start to force the football on the Dallas side for for Dak, it’s not a But Kim, he doesn’t have a choice. But it’s not a by choice. This is by force. You just talked about the defense. They don’t give up 38. We got to go get 40. Ain’t a ain’t no getting around that. You understand? All not a recipe for success. All I’m telling you is this. If they put up 40, being down by 20 is a different style of play. If we score, they score. That’s a different style of play. If they score, we score. That’s a different style of play. That’s all I’m saying. You cannot put that Quavius in a position that’s going to stretch. Cam, he is in that position. I understand that. I understand that. But it’s a it’s a firepower of a score system that’s happening. What I’m saying is do not put him in position where you’re down by multiple scores. That’s a different formula of ball that that’s not that nobody puts Dak in that position. The question is Dak got to make sure he doesn’t put himself in that position. And every time they get that damn ball, they have to go score because they know the other team’s going to score. It’s not us putting pressure on him. It’s him have to put pressure on him. If you get the ball first, go get seven points because the other team is going to get seven points. Each time the Cowboys get the ball, they have to go on the football field with the mindset we must score. And they have the ability to do that cuz takes care of everything 20 yards in. And and George Pickkins takes care of everything up top. They didn’t do it. You know what? You ain’t going to try this. You ain’t going to try this for me. You ain’t going to try this for me. You don’t stop that right now. You stop that right now. Did they do it against Denver? Did they do it against Denver last week? No, they didn’t do it against Denver last week. And oh, by the way, this brother is showing up here in Dallas with all of these sorry fans talking about what your defense is going to do. Let me tell you something right now. You conceded y’all going to give up 38. He said y’all going to give up 38. That’s 38. We going to give up 38, but we going to score. And that’s still a victory. That’s all I’m saying. Michael, it ain’t what you give up only. It’s also what you give to them. And that’s what Michael thinks the Cowboys are be quiet right just because it’s his show don’t mean he got to win these debates. We going to stop this today. Get him. We going to stop it today. It sounds like if they put up 38, we got to put up five straight one possession. Arizona could lose. That’s correct. It would be not good for the Cowboys to lose this game. The Cardinals have lost five straight games. That’s right. Jacobe Brassette has never faced the Cowboys. Let’s just point that out. So, if the Cardinals come into your house and beat you, that would not be good for the Cowboys, especially given the way their offense has looked. Yeah. I I I I don’t I I my mind doesn’t work in those ways. You know where I I see what I see and I see what this offense is doing with the exception of the last game. Dak Prescott has played MVP football. MVP football. That’s true. La last game. I said that right. Last game the pressure got to him a little bit. He got rid of some really he really didn’t have to. I need him tonight and the rest of the season to do like I see Patrick Mahomes do sometimes, you know, when when pressure’s all around him, he’s cool with no pressure inside him and he plays out and that’s what I’m expecting. We can’t do that. We can’t do that. Yeah. You better not I mention it to show what he must mention to show what you need to stop. Hey, he’s inching. He’s inching right on up there to quarterback. This is a defensive line that’s very good and very active in Arizona. I actually think this and I got a lot of love for Kyler Murray right now. Jacobe Brassette’s playing better than Kyler Murray has this season. Trey McBride is going to have a massive night. I’m taking Arizona on the road. I’m taking Arizona on the road. The Cowboys are on up here. You want to jump in on this Cam? You want to agree? Go ahead. Go ahead. You got one minute. Now, this is what you have to understand about big time games. Big time players will step up. When you see the dynamic of a CD Lamb and 88, when you see the dynamic of George Pickicket, Mr. Crash Out himself, these type of games is what they come to Dallas to play in. It’s no questions, it’s no if ends or butts about it. I’m not necessarily worried about the defense. I’m more worried and focused on if the Dallas Cowboys offense led by Dquavius Prescott, he has to win these winnable games, right, to put yourself in position for the latter part. Arizona is a better team than their record. I’m telling you, they are plenty capable of winning tonight. Game high school, all seven, college pros, Kyler Murray don’t lose here, but he ain’t playing. He might play tonight. Well, hey, I’m going tell you something. He might start hoping for little man to play cuz little man does give us problems. But Jacobe Brassette is going to sit right back in that pocket. Even our defense can find him actually and our defense can’t find nobody. But they can find they can find our quarterback since Michael P’s left. [Music]
