Jacksonville Jaguars’ Cam Little kicks record 68-yard field goal | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC

Cook puts it down. Little swings the right leg. It is a line drive to the goal post and it’s a record setter here in Allegiance Stadium. Cam Little breaks the NFL record for longest field goal of an NFL game. He was waiting for that opportunity ever since he made a 70 yard in the preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And that would have been good. 71 72 75. I mean, maybe they shot, you know, you heard me in the viewing room. I I I kind of saw it coming and they had been I was I was talking to Caleb Williams cuz I come in. It’s like I saw a text. Wait, what did I miss? Cam Little kicked a 16 yard field, right? Well, they were showing before the drive a little bit showing him in pregame warm-ups and they were showing him hitting 70 yarders. So, you’re like, “Oh, wow. Are they going to try this?” And then, of course, they get the ball at basically midfield and you’re like, “Whoa, they are they’re going to do it.” And I I don’t think this is shocking. We’ve seen this. I mean, again, if our guy hits seven, if our guy in Dallas gets in the right environment, Chris Boswell, Aubrey Exactly. seven or eight of them. They’re right. They’re right. So, I mean, we’ve been saying this all year. The the longest field goal was going to get broken this year. What a crazy game. Horribly boring game until the very end where all of a sudden it became a track meet late in the fourth quarter. And we were talking about it standing right over there during Football Night in America during the breaks. This is something that Chris and I have pointed out was only the fourth overtime game of the new procedure in the regular season where both teams are guaranteed a possession no matter what. Yep. with only 10 minutes, it creates potential chaos because even though the Jaguar and the Jaguars are the first ones to take the ball, they’re teams are starting to figure out deferring may leave us with not enough time to match the score that was and yesterday that was almost the case. And it almost became they don’t have the big kick return. It’s going to be a problem. That’s what help them. The Jaguars had a big kick return and still ran it down to 3:30. Exactly. Right. So they were trying to run it down and the Raiders get the big kick return that makes it easier for them to get in position. But then it came down to go did you go for two or you go I guess you got to go if you’re the Raiders like the tie is not going to mean anything to you. You’re not going to get into the playoffs on a tiebreaker fueled by the presence of a tie. You just got to win football. No. And they’re going to be sick because I think Gino Smith to his right. Brock Bowers was absolutely unreal yesterday. I mean unreal. And I think that Gino Smith had Brock Bowowers on the right to for the two-point conversion and he went to the left for some reason. Incomplete and the Raiders all got knocked down. Yeah, Raiders lose, Jaguars win. Jaguars badly needed that one. They had lost two in a row since their Monday night win over the Chiefs. 1. Aubrey is turning 31 soon. Even for a kicker, that's getting old. As you probably remember, the 30s hit everyone, even NFL athletes. That being said, if Aubrey breaks it and kicks a 69 harder, Cam Little just turned 22. Whats to say Cam won't kick a 70+ yarder, as hes successfully done already in preseason (Aubrey hasn't and is getting old)?

  2. The new rules about teams handling the kicking balls threaten to ruin the game. No one wants to watch an NFL game to watch field goals. Yet, that is exactly what the NFL has created. Combining the horrible kick off rules with the ball rules, and you automatically jack up the %'s for more and more field goals.
