marv is one of my favorite players and people and seeing him being used like this in the offense is just sad especially when all these other receivers from his class are thriving in their situations
We’re bottom third of the league in points per game and yards per game so not surprising, but to be fair, his son has been a huge part of why they’re where they are. MHJ all but single handedly lost us both the Niners and Seahawks games in particular with his multiple egregious drops and bad routes.
Hopefully he’s turning a corner, but this isn’t a case of a team just not targetting his son enough, if anything we targetted him too much early in the season relative to the results he was giving us. His yards and TDs were both among his lowest of the season against the colts and packers (in one of those cases due to him leaving early with a concussion) and those games where we gave those extra targets that had been going to MHJ instead to Zay Jones and Micheal Wilson just happened to be the games where our offense suddenly looked a lot better.
People have been blaming kyler but there’s a very real argument the difference has been MHJ being less involved, and thus killing less of our drives with bad drops or hand offs to the opposing CBs.

Kyler was very focused on getting him the ball but he was unable to make plays. I’d better keep my mouth shut, I don’t wanna get clipped.
Petzing isnt great, but he also didnt make Marv drop that wide open pass playing against the 49ers and didnt make Marv literally hand that interception to the Seahawks.
Petzing could possibly be a genius if Marv’s a reliable receiver that wasnt soft as baby shit
