🚨DEVELOPING San Francisco 49ers Trade News: 49ers About To Make Big Move? Mykel Williams ACL Injury
[Music] We’re off and running. Welcome back into the show. You’re watching the San Francisco 49ers report. Chase Senior hanging out here with you. And coming up on the show, that dreaded breaking news on rookie first round pick defensive end Mike Williams. Also, some developing Niners trade news as well with the NFL trade deadline coming up tomorrow afternoon. Let’s begin here, though. I’m getting close to 179,000 subscribers. What else did you think I was talking about? Come on now. If you want Elite Niners coverage coming your way every single day, year round, don’t forget to lock us in, hit that sub button. We are 40 subscribers away from reaching that milestone. Let’s continue to grow the Niner Empire here at Chat Sports. That breaking news for the NerS, it is official. It has been confirmed. what we talked about yesterday during the watch party during our postgame show. Mel Williams has a torn ACL and he is officially out for the year. Late in the game, only a couple minutes left. He was trying to track down Jackson Dart and the Metife turf struck again. It got another victim. He tried to plant that right leg. Knee went the wrong direction. You could tell he felt it immediately. And as he tried to tackle Dart around the ankles right after that, he immediately grabbed at his knee. Couldn’t really straighten it out. He did walk off the field under his own power. Walked into the locker room into the tunnel under his own power. But you could tell by the way that he was reacting. He knew it was serious. After the game, Kyle Shanahan said, “We fear it is an ACL.” And when a coach says that after getting feedback from the medical staff, even though this Niners medical staff is under fire and in my bullseye, usually 90 95% of the time, it means that that ACL is torn. And the 49ers are going to miss Michael Williams for a variety of reasons. A lot of people might say he was the 11th overall pick. He didn’t do anything this year. You’re just box score hunting and you’re being a very casual football nonball knower because Mike Williams was a very impactful player for this Niners defense in year one. You think about what Trent Williams said after the game that he’s an important piece for what we want to do on defense. Losing him would suck, but it’s next man up. And obviously it’s next man up for San Francisco. But this is a shame because Mike is only 21 years old. The meniscus is believed to be involved here, but really it’s that ACL 9 to 12 month recovery. He’s raw as a pass rusher. He needs to define and refine his moves there and get better and develop, but now he’s going to miss the entire off season. He’s not going to be on hand for OTAAS, mandatory mini camp, training camp, preeason. Probably will miss the start of the year. And so he’s not really going to get an opportunity to develop as a pass rusher. He’ll still continue to be that powerful guy, but for a guy who doesn’t have a lot of burst and twitch, how does this injury affect him? That’s a fair question to ask. Good edge in setting the run. He helped this Ner’s run defense go from one of the worst units in the National Football League to a top 10 unit this year. And he played a big role in that. I like the positional versatility that he possesses because he could play defensive end. He could play defensive tackle. He was able to push and collapse the pocket with his power and his length. He gave the ners a very physical presence at that defensive end spot. And the ners already thin at defensive end. These defensive ends are hurt. Nick Bosa out for the year. Mike Williams out for the year. Yuros Matoss injured reserve out at least the next four games. That’s been his whole stint, him being injured. Bryce Huff, Kyle Shanahan did say today there’s a chance that he could come back against the Rams. Jake Brendle has an opportunity to play against the Rams. Brandon did not get his practice window open, so he’ll continue to be out and off the team, but Bryce, at least that’s a good sign, is that he could play for San Francisco in this huge NFC West game here in week 10 at Levi Stadium. And going back to Mike, this is a first round pick who needs to develop. And now his development stunted. How do you develop as a player? You get more reps. And with all of these injuries along the defensive line at defensive end, he was going to get so much playing time. He had started every single game for San Francisco. So now you can throw that out of the window. I thought that he was putting together one of his better all-around games against the Giants. He had three pressures against New York and 14 hurries this year that he was able to accumulate. That was 36th in the NFL among all edge defenders. That’s a really good number. That’s starting caliber there. And he had 16 pressures. That ranked 55th. And this has been the story of the Ner season. This has been the story really of the Kyle Shanahan regime outside of 2023. Injured, banged up, marquee players missing a lot of time. The Niners two starting defensive ends from opening day are now out for the year. Nick Bosa to his ACL in week three. Mike Williams tears his ACL in week nine. And look at this chart. This is a list of Ner starters and games missed so far this year. Your quarterback Brock Pury, who you paid, has already missed seven games. Could be more. Kyle Shanahan said yesterday the turftoe might not go away for the rest of the season. Tight end George KD missed five games. He went on IR. Ricky Pearaw could come back against the Rams. He’s already missed five games. Joan Jennings, he’s missed two. Ben Bart, he’s missed eight. Jake Brendle, he’s missed two. Malik Mustafa missed the first five games of the year. Nick Bosa, out for the season. Mikel Williams, out for the season. Fred Warner out for the season. Brennan Aayuk, a starter for this team, still out. Who knows when he comes back. Brutal, brutal, brutal. And this is why I have tried to look at reasons and find reasons why San Francisco has had this historic injury rate, which is going on for nearly a decade at this point. Obviously, the first go-to is the strength and conditioning coach and the strength and conditioning staff. You look at the pre-practice routines, and you look at the Niners stretching strategy and all the things that they do there, recovery as well. But outside of that, is there something else going on with this football team? Anything is valid at this point as far as things to look into. Now, coming up next here on the show, we have developing trade buzz. The Niners making calls according to a report on two edge rushers. We’ll get into that coming up just around the corner. But let’s give a shout out to our sponsor. So pumped up to bring Omaha Stakes back as a sponsor here on the San Francisco 49ers report. And outside of talking about the Niners on camera and in front of this microphone, I love working out and I love nutrition. I love eating and I love the quality of Omaha Steaks. They’ve hooked me up so many times with a bunch of high quality meats. And look, there’s no offseason for flavor with heartland quality food delivered right to your door. I’m also busy, so this is very convenient. During the football season, we’re working six, seven days a week. Sometimes I don’t have an opportunity to go to the grocery store. And at the grocery store, I’m not finding packages like Omaha Stakes has sent me. They are the official sponsor of Tailgating, delivering legendary flavor that makes Game Day unforgettable. Enjoy grass-fed, grainfish, extra age, USDA certified tender steaks, juicy burgers, and more game day favorites like wings, deli style franks and brz, and Philly cheese steaks. Omaha Steaks offers unrivaled quality and variety. They’ve been America’s original butcher since 1917. A family-owned company with over 100 years of expertise in the meat industry. They also carry mouthwatering burgers, chicken, pork, and seafood, plus delectable desserts, which I really have enjoyed on numerous occasions because I have to admit, sometimes I have a sweet tooth. You know how it goes. Make game day delicious with the official sponsor of tailgating. If you’re tailgating at that Niners Rams game outside of Levi Stadium. It’s a great tailgating scene. Going to put that link attached to the pin comment and in the show notes of today’s San Francisco 49ers report. All right. So, the most legendary dog on Twitter is Ricky. And everybody, the real ones know, they know who Ricky Scoops is. The hit rate for Ricky over the last couple of years has been incredible. He has predicted free agency signings. He has reported on trades well before they actually happen. He has beaten the likes of Adam Shfter, Ian Rapaort, Jeremy Fowler, and other NFL insiders to the news before these trade news and rumors go down and come to fruition. And so, I will put some stock in what Ricky has to say. He tweeted this out on this Monday, November 3rd, that the 49ers have been calling for a pass rusher the past few weeks with Jaylen Phillips traded. Eagles got him earlier today. Niners could look to Bradley Chub or Germaine Johnson. Two players they’ve called about. The Cowboys are also actively looking for an edge rusher. Of note for Dallas, Jerry Jones in classic Cowboys Jerry Jones fashion went on the radio earlier this afternoon and said, “We have a trade completed. This player is going to be able to join our team and play immediately.” But he didn’t reveal what the trade was and who the Cowboys are trading for. Jerry knows that he loves to drive ratings. He likes to drive intrigue, drive drama. And so, we’ll see who the Cowboys have acquired, if they’ve acquired anybody. Let’s talk about Germaine Johnson here. I would like for the 49ers to trade for Germaine Johnson. Here’s why I think this move would make sense. He played and thrived under Robert Salo when Salo was the Jets head coach. He’s still only 26 years old. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have said, “Ideally, we would like to trade for a player who can be a part of our core for a little while. While Johnson is on the last year of his contract, he could be a building block and part of this Niners’s core moving forward for the foreseeable future. I really like the athlete at 6’5”, 262 lbs. He can be a building block at that defensive end spot. He’s good against the run. He can get after the quarterback with good bend for his size, good physicality, and I don’t think that a trade for Germaine Johnson would really break the bank. I think that you could get him for a fourth round pick. And if you need to increase your offer, I’d be willing to move a third round pick for Germaine Johnson. You are six and three right now. The NFC is wide open. The NFC West is there to be had. And you can make some noise in the dance as long as you get into the playoffs. You look at Johnson’s career numbers so far this season. drafted in the first round out of Florida State in 2022. He had two and a half sacks under Salah, five quarterback hits, three TFLs. Year two was when he had that breakout campaign. Him and Bryce Huff were fantastic, and that’s another reason why you could bring him in. Germaine Johnson and Bryce Huff has shown that they can be a dynamic duo together. Huff that year had 10 sacks. Germaine Johnson in 2023 had seven and a half alongside 16 quarterback hits, 11 TFLs. That’s the ability to play against the run. Seven pass breakups. He’s an athletic freak who can bat passes down at the line of scrimmage. Unfortunately, last year he tore his Achilles very early on in the season, so he only played two games and that put a dent into his numbers. This year he’s played in two games and I think he’s starting to round into form at least a little bit. Has a sack, two quarterback hits, one TFL, one pass break up. Obviously, anytime the Niners trade for a player, you worry about an injury history. But at this point, they’re kind of desperate, and I’m willing to take a chance on a player like this who has proven he can play in this scheme under this defensive play caller and play very well. 14 pressures this season. Two quarterback hits, a pass rush grade of 59.3. Outside of Bryce Suff, he’s the best remaining option that the Ners would have on their roster if they were to trade for him. As for Bradley Chub, Bradley Chub is a very accomplished player. What’s of note here, he might be a little bit older, but at 29 years old, set to be 30 in June, he did sign a contract extension that was somewhat large recently, but there’s no more guaranteed money left on that deal. Fifth overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He’s been a highle player throughout his career. Defensive rookie of the year voting. He finished third back in 2018. He was a Pro Bowler in 2020, a Pro Bowler in 2022 as well. He had 12 sacks in year 1. Year two only played four games, had one sack. Came back to play 14 games, had seven and a half sacks. 2021 only played seven games, zero sacks. Comes back from that and between Denver and Miami, he had eight sacks. In 2023, he had 11. Then he tore his ACL in 2024. So, there’s a long history of injuries here. I will say this year for Bradley Chub, I think he’s played pretty well. He’s looked pretty explosive. He’s looked good. Four sacks, five TFLs, and seven quarterback hits. And I don’t think that he would break the bank all that much either. And so my favorite edge rusher trade targets for San Francisco. Trey Hendrickson is the apple of my eye. According to reports, the Bengals won a first round pick. That’s a joke. I’m not giving up a firstrounder for Trey Hendrickson in early November. Kavon Tibido is a younger player who I like. We talked about Germaine Johnson, Bradley Chub. If the Niners want to bring in a veteran who’s familiar with the scheme, who had six and a half sacks for the Niners a couple of years ago, who resurrected his career with Chris Koserk as his defensive line coach, Ardan Key for the Bad Titans could also be an option there as well. Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button. Really appreciate all of you for hanging out here with me when and if the NerS make a trade, because I think they do for a defensive end, you know, we have you covered. So stay locked in. [Music]

We’re not getting anyone. Williams won’t be back till mid season next year
With the trading deadline around the corner the 49ers need to call Cincinnati and trade for Henderson. And then the Niners need to get ahold of Washington and trade for Bobby Wagner he's older at the middle linebacker position but he'll still get it done.
They'll just get hurt😐
We’re gonna piss away a 6-3 season
Mykel Williams walked off just like Bosa.
At this Point Chad i feel like we could trade for Garrett, Crosby, & Khalil Mack. They all would tear their ACLs in 3 weeks!
HEY CHAD YOUR ON ? Mark list your always using the ? Mark who the 49ers are going pick up
Where was our new guy White? Did he even play yesterday???
No rush bringing Brendel back. YGM is a complete waste
Well the eagles got better with getting Jalen Phillips
Stop saying that Niners need to trade away Jennings he's the most productive wr
