Kelel Ware on some early season struggles: “I mean it’s only my second year. So you know it’s still a learning process of that and just getting it down. It’s mainly just the defensive part of It and like I said I’m still getting that down”

There’s a reason why “sophomore slump” is a popular term.
Herro had one, Jaime had one, and now Ware is going through his.
You need to hurry up bro, you ain’t got much time for you to not have the mental part ready…
The physical part it’s understandable, it takes time.
But the mental part you get it, or you don’t..
You being out of position and looking lost is a problem.
You know, he’s right but I hate that he’s getting defensive and making excuses rather than focusing on getting better
How about some posts about Jovic? Too much emphasis on a guy thats still on a rookie deal and not in the guy that’s been with the team for 4+ years and got extended for 62 million. Bro better be a trade piece as as he’s eligible
The first step to solving any problem is admitting there is one. Some people still didn’t see any(like Whiteside) He’s already on his way. Give him a little room to grow. We all want him to be up to speed asap but he needs time. I wish he wasn’t in an environment where his growth is so crucial but he needs to be up to par to free up Bam of at least some things defensively.
I wish the fanbase showed Ware the same patience they show Jovic, considering this is only his second year, and his ceiling is much higher.
He’ll be fine
I think Ware will be fine, but this response ain’t it.
People wanting to pull the plug on this guy in just his 2nd year are nuts. He’ll be fine. It’s all a part of development. If it’s not fixed now, it’ll get fixed later.
Playing hard isn’t something that should take time to develop. His problem isn’t understanding defensive coverages. His problem is his lack of urgency to do anything on the court. He looks so disengaged when trying to grab a rebound or get in defensive position. Everyone here trying to pretend it’s not an issue but we’ve see this exact thing with whiteside. First thing he needs to acknowledge is that his level of effort and motor has been unacceptable it has nothing to do with “learning how to play defense”
Yeah I think he largely just has trouble staying engaged. He acknowledges the negatives are negative and responds to the criticism well. I’m seeing Whiteside comparisons here and there and this isn’t the same thing. Whiteside was ADAMANT he was not the issue and Spo and company were holding him back (despite being the ones to empower him in the first place)
