[Bontemps] “Ja Morant is not a Top 10 Point Guard. He doesn’t play defense, doesn’t really shoot, and he’s not nearly as athletic as a couple years ago. He’s certainly not one of the 5 best point guards in the league — I’m not sure he’s among the 10 best. I’d even rather have Darius Garland…”

The hell, what you mean even DG? DG has been a better PG than morant for the last 3 years imo
Even? Pfft. Kind of a backhanded compliment
Bontemps classic. Can’t wait to hear Fear the Fro’s reaction to this backhanded compliment lmao, he might dedicate a whole episode to address it
The general NBA fan’s opinion of DG is much lower than ours, because they don’t watch Cavs games
This is true, Ja has had a historic drop off from his MIP year
He has never recovered his explosiveness from his knee injury, then he was suspended for an entire season and he’s never been the same
I can see some more healthily attached fans thinking a DG for Ja trade is just what we need, but it would be a major step backwards
The r/NBA OP misquoted Bontemps in the title before people direct too much anger at the reporter.
> He doesn’t say, “I’d even rather have…” What he actually says is, “I would just say flat out, Darius Garland at this point, I’d rather have Darius Garland over Ja Morant. Darius Garland is not a perfect player by any means, but Darius Garland is an offensive engine by himself.”
> [Ja was drafted ahead of Garland and is a former all-NBA second team, but he’s not what he once was. That’s the point he was making.](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/QWv1Q6txpO)
the disrespect to DG is wild. He clearly is the Conductor of our offense. The teams struggles are pretty obvious without garland facilitating so far
I hate DG. Ja is so much better
We live DG now but come Playoff time this sub, as always, will somehow turn on him lol
Bontemps is the Anthony Bennett of Skip Baylesses
Shocking analysis
Enemy of the Pod.
Quick someone tell u/fearthefropod
When we were teams both young and upcoming teams a few years ago I was OK with cheering on the Grizz as a sort of “Cavs West”, but I think the difference can be concisely summed up by something our front office has said a lot:
#”Character matters.”
Sorry Memphis fans.
Morant had had way more playoff moments
Garland catching strays dang 😬
I like how Darius Garland stock is up in this sub and around the league after seeing how bad our team is without him. Never involve that man in another trade proposal
