He slide late and there was no helmet to helmet contact. What can the defender do? Suddenly stop at full acceleration? I hope this is the beginning of the NFL turning a new leaf.

  1. It sucks that the first “no call” happened on one where CJ got literally taken out of the game though :/

I do agree the late sliding really leaves defenders no options and I don’t think this one was really anybody’s fault tbh. Hoping for a speedy recovery

  2. I completely agree. QB’s need to stop acting like endangered species if they want to scramble. Treat them like running backs.

  3. I agree but we all know it is not. If Mahomes or Allen get grazed they are getting that penalty

  4. I think it’s the apparent hypocrisy that’s got Texans fans pissed, which does suck. Azeez last year was labeled a terrorist thug. But yeah, they called it correctly.

  5. If we’re going to share takes, then let me just say that I’m more than happy to never see CJ run. Year 3 and he still has no clue how to slide and it’s just not worth it.

  6. So frustrating how people were assasinating azeez’s character. He’s nothing like how people were describing him after the hit on lawrence.

  7. It was the right call because it was a clean hit and frankly anyone carrying the ball past the line of scrimmage should be treated *exactly* the same way.

If that happened to a RB nobody would bat an eye. Quarterbacks who run the ball do so at their own risk.

  8. I agree but what I am wondering is why this flag got picked up but when two texans defenders ran into each other next to mahomes last year and didn’t touch him at all, that got called a penalty and was not reviewed/reversed?

This guy dug his foot in to pivot to come in low as soon as he realized CJ was sliding. He got up smiling and laughing acting like a kid he just gleefully robbed the cookie jar. It was dirty AF. Look at how his teammate reacted if you want to see how a decent human being behaves in this situation. CJ was coming straight at him and he was able to avoid forcible contact. The rule book hasn’t changed drastically, it just allows the calls to be reviewed now. This isn’t the beginning of some major shift in the NFL as naïve folks like yourself are about to learn. This is just the Texans being shit on again.

  10. No I watched it live. Everyone in the stadium thought it was a penalty. The Broncos fans in attendance were surprised when they picked up the flag too

  11. CJ got stuck btw trying to get to the sticks and slide. He should of lowered his shoulder or dove. Hope he learned his lesson

  12. The only reason I’m mad is because it’s almost the exact same as what happened with Azeez and T law last year and Azeez was VILLIFIED for that shit

  13. Honestly I just don’t like the hypocrisy of it all. The same crowd that cried bloody murder after the Tlaw hit is now making excuses for the CJ hit you can’t have your cake and eat it too

(Oh and for the record I believe none of those were dirty hits)

  14. I agreed with it too but get hit with a ton of ‘whataboutism’ with the hit from last year with AAS. Idc what anyone says, AAS had more time to pump the brakes and/or avoid the helmet of Lawrence then that Bronco defender did and the Bronco defender STILL managed to just hit CJ in the chest. Clean hit

  15. I wish they’d just take out the slide. It feels like qb’s get concussed sliding just as much as they get other injuries trying to power through a tackle.

  16. Pick and a rule and be consistent. Is it not a penalty? Then stop throwing the flag when a defender breathes in the vicinity of Mahomes. Is it a penalty? Then don’t pick and choose who you will throw the flag for.

The article is correct, this play does get flagged across the league so of course it’s going to be fucking annoying when it doesn’t get thrown in our situation.

I don’t think the hit was dirty but I do think a flag should have been thrown and not picked back up.

  17. As long as it’s consistent. If we get flagged for 2 of our guys colliding in the general area code of mahomes again I’m going to riot.
