  1. 100% expected. I hope we do the right thing, but I feel like he’s going to try to get his bag and somebody will overpay for him.

  2. He knows we love him; we’ve done everything we can as fans.

I hope he gets paid what he deserves.

  3. Go see how much people will pay you pete, then come home and let Mr. Cohen match or exceed it.

  4. If we lose out on Pete after the way this season ended i can only imagine the things Cohen will do. Finally break out the cloning machine and make 3 more Barry Bonds or something? Stay tuned

  5. well yeah, he said it 30 seconds after the season ended (not that it was at all unexpected). this is just making it official

  6. I wanna preface this by saying I def want Pete back and I can’t imagine this team without him. However after watching a lot of the post season where literal games were saved by excellent first base defense… i can see where sterns could have a problem with it.

In my mind I’d blow away any other offer but he has to DH. It would be the absolute perfect fit for us. He’d be that Schwarber type impact DH for us that we’ve been missing forever.

He can still play part time first base… but I think we could sell him on the fact it could prolong his career. Maybe get him closer to 500 home runs as well.

  7. 98 days until Spring Training, or something like that.

Time to snooze a lot of baseball feeds until the deal is consummated to whichever the team may be.

  8. Any replacement makes the Mets a worse team. It is a bad baseball move and a horrendous pr move

  9. If we play back last offseason, I believe the Mets didn’t resign Pete in hopes of signing Vlady Jr this offseason.

I believe the Yankees signed Goldschmidt to a 1 year contract in hopes of signing Vlady Jr this offseason.

I don’t think the Mets or the Yankees anticipated the contract Vlady Jr resigned for.

This leaves the Yankees and the Mets in a bidding war for Pete, and after losing Soto, I doubt the Yankees will go down swinging again.

I LOVE Pete, and he loves NY, I just hope we can get him signed quickly.
