Tennessee Titans fan is bummed watching NFL analyst talk about Cam Ward’s rookie season so far

Tennessee Titans fans from the NFL’s YouTube account. This video, who’s the real deal, evaluating the young QBs, Brett Coleman, analyzes the play of some of the rookie and sophomore quarterbacks in the NFL through week four. So, this is before the week five game, but here is a little analyzing of Cameron Ward. Starting obviously with the number one overall pick in 2025, Cam Ward. Full disclosure, I am grading Cam Ward on a curve here because man, I’m not sure any quarterback in the league has less help than Cam Ward does right now. And I’m talking weapons, protection, play calling, all of it. Like, it just feels like it’s Cam Ward against the world. And that’s why I think it’s not as fair. And not just the case of Cam Ward, but I think you could have said the same about Caleb last year. I think you could um you know say the same about maybe maybe Jackson Dart as well. Like if you’re if you’re getting drafted at the top of the draft, there’s a reason nine times out of 10 there’s a reason why that team’s up there. It’s usually because they’re terrible and they’ve got a lot of work to do. And and so sometimes it’s it’s tough to to look at somebody like Cam Ward and to look at his box score, to look at his stats or to whatever all these different charts people post and be like, “Oh, I’ve determined that he sucks through the first five games.” But like listen to what this guy’s saying. Like he’s got nothing hardly to work with. You see in his flashes of talent what he can do with this offense. I mean, he’s made some truly incredible, insane throws. Throws across his body to the back pylon. It’s caught. It’s caught. That is a Titans touchdown. And yet the other 95% of the time, he is just getting shelled over and over again because of his lack of support. In particular, I think their biggest issue beyond protection is just the fact that his receivers can’t get open. They have a 20% success rate against man coverage so far this year, ranking dead last in the league and less than half the league average of 44.3%. If you can just play man off this offense all day and you know that nobody’s ever going to get open, I mean, yeah, what’s Cam Ward supposed to do with that? Not to mention his offensive line is not exactly great in pass pro. I mean, there’s just a lot better Sunday to work with here. So, sure, I could nitpick and say that his average time to throw is too long or that, you know, he’s taken some really bad sacks or, you know, I could I could really try to tear him down, but what’s he supposed to do, right? If you get him more weapons that can separate in under two and 1/2 seconds and just a little bit better pass protection, I think we would see a really good quarterback, but we just might not see that for a while. Last, but certainly not least, we have Jackson Dart, who’s I mean, that’s uh that’s kind of where you land with them. It’s it’s the the neverending uh cycle of quarterbacks who get drafted to bad teams. Like, when will we get a fair assessment of this guy? You know, when will we and look, Caleb Williams had a rough go his rookie year. They went and got Ben Johnson and and they made some changes and Caleb looks better this year. So, there’s hope in that regard. But, um, you know, I I’ve said this till I can’t hardly say it anymore. CJ Strad and Jaden Daniels are the exception and not the rule. Just because Jaden Daniels came into Washington and did what he did last year, CJ Strad and Houston two years ago, their rookie years, sometimes you start to think, oh, that’s that’s what rookie quarterbacks are supposed to do. And I know that Cam Ward through the first five games has not been everything that everybody hoped they would see, you know, in the first five weeks. Ideally, you would have loved to have seen him just come in and be unbelievable. But the details that I’ve laid out on my podcast and on numerous videos, I think this offensive scheme is is not the best. I think this is not the most well coached team. his receivers as I mean I hadn’t even seen that stat that they’re only getting open against man coverage 20% of the time. I mean that that’s despicable, right? And then not to mention the dropped passes of which there have been many. Um and yes, there have been times where Cam especially I mean this video was done before the Arizona game, but even in the game against Arizona, which they won, he was inaccurate. He was missing guys deep that were open. I mean, there are times when Cam’s missing on some things, which he’s in not entitled to do, but it’s not unexpected. He’s a rookie. He’s he’s a rookie in his first five starts, in his first season on a bad team, but for the most part, like, you’ve got to be able to help him as best you can. He’s going to make his mistakes. He’s going to have his growing pains, but you’ve got to be able to help him. You’ve got to be able to have receivers, offensive line, scheme, coach that can all come together to help put him in the best position they can. And in too many instances, I don’t feel like the Titans have done that for Cam Ward through the first five weeks. I feel like it’s already hard enough to be a rookie in the NFL at quarterback, but when you throw in not well coached receivers not being able to get separation, dropping the ball, offensive line at times has been has been very iffy. That’s just miserable. That’s a miserable situation. And the and the problem is you don’t want Cam Ward to develop bad habits because he’s constantly worried about getting sacked. he’s constantly worried about, you know, guys not getting open because they don’t get open. Like, you just don’t want bad habits to develop. And so, um, you know, seeing what Cam Ward was able to do in the fourth quarter against Arizona with some of those throws was greatly encouraging. To see that, you know, when the back’s against the wall, he can do that. But how do we get that more? How do we make that the norm for Cam Ward instead of three quarters of really struggling and then finally the damn breaks? So, I think this guy’s assessment was fair. Uh, we’ll see what becomes of Cam. The season is young. Lot of games left to be played. Lot of experience out there for Cam to go get. I just hope it’s good experience and not wasted experience. Tighten up.

  1. titans and cardinals are like dims and buden in 2020..you got a win you didn't earn..you won the game but you didn't beat the cardinals..being behind for 59 minutes and 56 seconds isn't beating the other team

  2. Cam sucks said this when he was in college, he sucks ass, funny how first rd picks get these two years of every one making excuses, for them, see it every year but you morons do the same shit every year, bryce young, kaleb Williams, kimmy ward, Jackson dart is doing fine on the second worst team from last year. Trade him, why you might could still get a seventh round pick for his bum ass

  3. His oline is better than Levis was last season which is stunning the main problem with Titans is u dont have a HC hes a joke once u upgrade that u can get better players u can get this clown any players u want an he will be a clown show.
