The Suns Just TRICKED the NBA…
The Phoenix Suns just tricked the NBA because the whole league thought that Victor Whipyama was unstoppable and yet they just stopped him in his tracks. They also thought that the Suns were a pushover. But this could be a team that could make some noise if they can win a few big games in the Western Conference. And the game plan for the Suns worked perfectly. Their game plan of make Wimi beat us by shooting jump shots, which he has done in the past, worked beautifully. He had nine points, nine rebounds, six turnovers in 34 minutes on four of 14 shooting from the field. One of five from beyond the ark. And every time he got the ball, there was at least one guy. A lot of teams show doubles, but don’t actually bring the doubles. Like right here where we’ve got Ryan Dunn and Mark Williams both at Wimby at all times, as well as Royce O’Neal. Everybody is around him as soon as he touches the ball. And not every team can do this. You have to have the personnel to do it with guys like Mark Williams who’s 7’2 with a 76 wingspan. They got Nick Richards at 7 foot with a 74 wingspan. Oso Wiggodaro at 6’10 with that 611 wingspan. And then wings like Ryan Dunn who is a freakish 67 with a 72 wingspan. Dylan Brooks at 66 with that 66 wingspan. And then Royce O’Neal at about 6’5 with his 6’9 wingspan. They have the guys to do this to just throw bodies at Wimby. right here when Mark Williams shows the double and then doesn’t back off. He’s going to come right at him and then Devin Booker is in charge of Champany and Vel. Everybody else rotates accordingly. He’s going to go to his little split the double fadeaway jumper and if he makes that, then he makes it. They’re going to have to live with that. And then right here, great job walling up on the last play of the quarter. And then second half, we’ve got him here at the mid posting up at the elbow. The Spurs getting the ball. The Gadoro bodies him up 101. And then here comes Royce O’Neal right at him, daring him to pass it out to Stefan Castle. He doesn’t. He’s gonna spin baseline and Mark Williams is there as well. And then just two guys on him at all times. Jordan Goodwin did a fantastic job just being a smaller guy, but every time Wimby brings the ball down, he’s right there to go get it. Like right here, Wimpy’s able to get it, but Goodwin stays with it and knocks the ball off his leg out of bounds. Then once again, he’s going to try to post up here at the mid post area. And Royce O’Neal does a fantastic job of being physical and not letting him get to the rim, keeping two feet out of the paint. Look at that. Wimby having to shoot from outside the paint. Mark Williams on the backside going for the block as well. And then right here, they’re going to try to run that little flare action where Wim is going to get the ball in space, which is ridiculous to be running for a 75 guy. It’s kind of crazy that they can do that. But look at Mark Williams. Ryan Dunn stays with him the whole time. It’s physical. They force him into a fadeaway jumper over a guy with a 76 wingspan and it works. Now, let’s talk about Devin Booker, who has been really, really good so far this year for the Suns. Last year was a bit of a down year, but this year he’s back and he put up 28 points and 13 assists last night on the San Antonio Spurs uh to go with two rebounds, a steal in 35 minutes while shooting 10 of 15 from the field and two of two from beyond the arc. Let’s take a look at the passing here. Finding Gillespie on the fast break for the three ball. And then once again drawing everybody in and finding Ryan Dunn for the three right here. Biz comes to double down and he just leaves Ryan Dunn wide open. And Ryan Dunn coming into the night was like a 28% three-point shooter. So it was working, but he had a big night. So we’ll talk about that in a second. Now let’s take a look at this little stagger set. Stefan Castle gets absolutely bamboozled and it’s an easy layup for the Suns. As you can see, Mark Williams is going to set this well attempt to set this first screen and then roll. Castle gets all mixed up as soon as he sees Castle’s back. He’s just going to hit Mark Williams for the easy layup. No rim protector in there as Wimi is on the bench. And then let’s just talk about these pure buckets because Booker was this is the epitome of ethical hoops last night. Just getting to spots. The mid-range is not dead and just delivering time and time again. He’s averaging 30 this year with 7.4 four assists and four rebounds on ridiculously good splits. These are, like I said, ethical hoops. And it’s lovely to watch uh Booker getting the spots right here in the mid-range. A little step back over Castle for the easy midi. Um last year, he only shot 46% from the field and 33% from three. So, this year coming in, it’s nice to see that he’s kind of gotten his step back and is knocking down shots. Um because the mid-range was on one last night. turnaround fadeaway bucket in your mouth to find Castle. Then once again, working the pick and roll, getting to that mid-range, elevating and celebrating, and it’s another easy bucket. Devin Booker has owned one so far this year. And if you made it this far into the video, hit the like button, hit that subscribe button. As you can see, 93% of the people that watch these videos are not subscribed. If that’s you, fix that. And then let’s take a look at how this roster just fits and compliments Devin Booker so well, much like the Milwaukee Bucks do with Yiannis Koopmpo. Grayson Allen is such a nice weapon to have alongside of Devin Booker because he clears so much space on the court. He put up 17 points, three rebounds, and three assists with two turnovers last night in 34 minutes. Shot six of 13 from the field. Five of nine from beyond the arc and can really make a defense strain to get a hand up. And even when they do get a hand up, half the time, like right here in transition, it it doesn’t matter. Remember a couple of years ago, he led the league in three-point percentage. And so far, he’s averaging almost 17 a game with five assists while shooting 41% from the field and 38% from three on eight attempts per game. and doing things like this, which really helps this pick and roll where Booker is going to drop it off to Nick Richards. Devin Vel and Kell Johnson are both going to step up, which means Stefan Castle has to rotate down, which means that Grayson Allen is wide open and it greatly benefits the pick and roll, but also the floor spacing that Phoenix is able to produce right here. Handed a grenade and he still gets to go. And then his protege, if you will, Colin Gillespie, who I guess I only say that cuz they’re both white guys, but he can also fill it up from beyond the arc. He’s also got a little bit better floor game than Grayson Allen. Finished with 15 points, four assists, two rebounds, and two stocks in 22 minutes. Shot five of 10 from the field, and three of seven from beyond the arc. And so far this year, he’s been a really pleasant surprise, averaging 12 points a game, 5.4 4 assist, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 25 minutes a game, shooting 44% from the field and 41% from three on four attempts. A really good start for a guy in Colin Gillespie that nobody was counting on in Phoenix to be big time. Now, the Wings, even without Rashir Fleming and Dylan Brooks, who’s only played three games, have been very good, and they were really good last night. Um, the secondyear man out of Virginia, Ryan Dunn, was pretty solid. He finished with one of his better games of the season. 17 points, five rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 27 minutes while shooting six of eight from the field and three of four from beyond the arc and did some really, really good things when it comes to his development. Like right here, watch the cut. He sees Kell Johnson steps up. Dylan Harper doesn’t rotate down in time and it’s a nice back cut for a layup. And then working out of the pick and roll here with the Book Castle takes Book away and Dunn takes Barnes right to the basket. and then being a playmaker out of the short roll. He sees Vel and Champany rotate down, throws it up to Mark Williams and that’s a little bit too easy and then taking Bismac Bombo down into the paint for an easy bucket and finishing his performance off with a catch and shoot corner three. Another guy that has been dynamite so far this year for the Suns has been Royce O’Neal. And between Royce, Grayson Allen, and Colin Gillespie, they have three elite floor spacers working around Deon Bookering Company. He finished with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 30 minutes last night. And even hit this tough floater over Wimi at the end of the game. You also have Oso Wiggodaro, who we talked about in the open as a fantastic defender, but also playing a little bit of a role here in the short role in the high post, that little floater that he’s known for. Nick Richards had really a great game for Nick Richards last night. Former Charlotte Hornet legend. For whatever reason, the Suns thought it was a good idea to go out and recreate our horrific front court from last year. Um, but so far it’s working. Jordan Goodwin’s another guy that I think is really going to stick on here in Phoenix. Just a glue guy that can do a lot of things good. Can knock down the three ball and can play defense as well as facilitate a little bit finding Mark Williams right here who was also pretty solid. Um, but again, as a Hornets fan, I’ll give it like five games before bros down and can’t play again for the rest of the year. With that being said, that’s going to be it for today’s video. Not going to make the playoffs
No need to mention Dylan Brooks wingspan when he wasn't in the game. Sick win for the Suns though, they're going to sneak up on a lot of teams with their veterans and defense.
Suns played well, but also Wemby shot horribly. Doubt Wemby misses those easy ones next game
Dunn is 6’8
Since you mentioned brooks you should have mentioned Maluach 7’2. 7’6 wingspan and Fleming 6’9. 7’3 -7’5 wingspan
As the sun's fan I can just tell you that we are so glad to be rid of that Bug3 non. So glad we got rid of Duran and Beale and got a young very talented coach. Last night was the most enjoyment I've had as a fan in over 2 years.
Lose a couple and they fuckin suck, they win a couple they’re winning a championship. Freskin 🤡
