BREAKING: Jared McCain Return IMMINENT – This is Perfect for the Sixers
We have breaking news surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers as not only are they off to a 5-1 start to the season and playing like one of the hottest teams in basketball, but another valuable element is set to be added to this roster with the news that Jared McCain is making his return to the court for the first time this season. That’s right, the player that was set to run away with rookie of the year before his season was ended prematurely due to that meniscus tear and had the start of this season delayed due to that torn UCL in his right thumb there. he is back and ready to make his impact on this six years team and is a very necessary part of the way that this team is building that I understand Tyrese Maxi has been nothing but awesome that I understand VJ Edgecom has exceeded expectations by a massive margin that Quinn Grimes fitting right back in but he is a necessary part of the Sixers team I’m going to dive into exactly why that is the case now to before I got dive into the details here do want to start with the news coming from Tim Bontemps who tweets out Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain will be probable to play tomorrow night against the Chicago Bulls sources told ESPN McCain will be in line to make his season debut after suffering a torn ligament in his right thumb in September prior to the start of training camp. Now to just address the rest of the injury news here that Paul George and Dominic Barlo will remain out. Those are the only three players listed on the injury report for the Sixers. So what that means exactly there is that Kelly Ubé Jr. is not listed on the injury report is going to continue battling through that ankle injury there. He did mention in the broadcast following the previous game the victory over the Brooklyn Nets there. This has been something that he’s been dealing with for several weeks now. And I got to respect just the hard hat nature that Kelly just wants to lace him up and play every single night. And he’s been damn good for this Sixers team, man. This is a dude who I will circle back to the whole minutes correlation here, but Kelly Ubé Jr. is earning a role in the Sixers team. Now, in the same way that I think Jared McCain is set to provide some relief to the guard tandem here, Paul George is going to be sort of that version with Kelly Ubé Jr. Now, Paul George should and hopefully will be a better player than Kelly Ubé Jr. But to dive into exactly what I mean here, I did want to pull up the leaders in minutes across the entire NBA. This is not the Sixers directly. This is the league as a whole. And sitting right at the top, Tyrese Maxi at 42.5 minutes per game. Here in second place, VJ Edgecomb at 39.0 minutes per game. And Kelly Ubé Jr. in third at 38 minutes per game. Austin Reeves in fourth place there at 37.9. Meaning a notable gap between the 42.5 for Tyrese Maxi and 37.9 for Austin Reeves. the first non- sixers member here. This is why Jared McCain is necessary. It is great that there is that type of motor on Tyrese Maxi that he does have young legs. He does want to play all the time and is delivering in these opportunities. There is no doubt about that. But you also have to have the long-term vision factored in. You do not want to burn Tyrese Maxi out over the span of an 82 game season that when we do get to the postseason, he doesn’t have enough gas left in the tank. That is why Jared McCain is so valuable because all of these guards are worth playing. And I don’t want to hear that there is not room in the offense here. I saw what Jared McCain did with my own two eyes last year. The offball movement, the way that he could shoot in transition, relocate, the just the instincts that he has as a basketball player, a better passer than I expected coming in league. And I think most of us would share that overall feel. This is going to be an impact player for this Sixers team. I’ve stood 10 toes down on this channel with the take that I think when these guys reach their peak that Jared McCain’s ceiling is even higher than Tyrese Maxi. Now, Maxi is throwing that in my face and doing everything possible to cement that I can be a 1A guy. And he is changing my mind to an extent about this, but do not let that dilute that you can never have too much talent. I’ve watched this Sixers team start fur Corkmos in a playoff team that missed me with we have too many guards right now that these guys can all play and they’re all going to. Injuries are going to pop up. Each of these guys going to play a valuable role. But the fact that you can spare some of these minutes at least in the short term and see how all this works out is a huge thing that the biggest storyline of this entire s season to me coming into the year is how do these guard combinations work. Can you play VJ Edge come at the three? That is a question I think is going to be answered very clearly in these next couple weeks that I do think when sorting through the talent gap of the roster here. These four guys, these four guards in particular are very clearly in the upper echelon of talent. That being Tyrese Maxi, that being VJ Edgecom, that being Quinton Grimes, and that being Jared McCain there, which of these combinations work together and produce effective basketball? Does that mean Maxi and McCain on on the floor together could produce the most dynamic offense that this team can? Does it mean you have to pair VJ Edgecom with Jared McCain because of the defensive shortcomings that he might have? Is Quinton Grimes and Tyrese Maxi the ideal pair pairing? Although I would throw out there right now that the Edgecom and Maxi duo certainly seems like something that is working to me and they should not scrap that whatsoever. But the storyline of the season to me is to figure that out. What are the combinations that work? And you have to think both short-term and long term that we are beginning to appreach uh beginning to approach a territory where we have to be focused on the short-term goals for this season. This is not a throwaway season. This is going to be a team that is at least in the hunt from a playoff perspective. And I think absolutely a playoff team. I’m even going to go as far to say I think this is going to be a top six playoff team and we will see how the test of time plays itself out. But I also think it’s very valuable the way this season is playing out in front of us that I know it felt like a nightmare season last year because it was and I know it felt like a nightmare off seasonason because not a ton happened in regards to the Sixers world. Sure, there were the small signings here and there that Trendan Watford is showing what he can do. Certainly coming off his best performance with the Sixers here that Quinton Grime is back in uniform that you added a little bit through the draft with VJ Edgecom who’s clearly making his impact. But for the most part, this is the same core of the team. But what has been different is it’s no longer you’re playing this brand of basketball according to this player that it is not live and die with Joel Embiid. It is not let’s play through Paul George and ensure that he gets his reps here. This is a team who’s collectively found the best way to play together and you begin to add pieces to this that Joel Embiid being a piece from the beginning here. Paul George will be back and we changing the construct of this team. But to look at what is currently being produced that we are talking about this Sixers team being second in points per game, second in offensive rating, tied for third in three-point percentage, fourth in assist to turnover ratio, and fifth in three-pointers made. That is a dynamic offense that wants to run and gun. These youthful legs have brought a newfound energy to this entire organization, and McCain is only going to feed into that in the future. So, I cannot wait to see what Jad McCain brings to this Sixers team. I really do think that there is something to the relocation ability, the off ball movement that he possesses that is going to even take that up several more levels here that that dude can get out in transition, is willing to pull from whatever is not afraid of the moment and we saw that on full display. So, this is a welcomed addition to the Sixers team. We are inching closer and closer to the Sixers finding their full form and that should be a scary thought for the rest of the NBA. That is not a real thought that I thought would pop into my head this season, but that is 100% how I feel based on how things are playing out in front of us. This team does not look afraid. They look committed and Jad McCain is going to buy into every single one of those visions. So, do feel bad for Jad McCain from the stance of this is how this his career has played out to this point that injuries have been the story, but do not let that make you forget about the talent that he does possess. And also, quick congrats to Jared McCain as he did officially get his contract uh exercised here. the uh option for the third season more of a formality than anything. This was not anything that we expected to go anywhere here that uh it’s kind of you know unless there’s a serious issue here or some massive concerns that teams are going to accept that and keep that option on the table here. So not really news in as it pertains to Jared McCain who certainly showed enough during those 23 games to keep him around for another year but nonetheless hope those extra couple millions hit the bank feel quite good and looking forward to him suiting back up in a Sixers uniform next year as well. But nonetheless, cannot wait to see what he brings on the floor this season and do think that this offense still has not hit his peak. That he’s going to be a valuable part of this. That one area specifically that I think is worth keeping an eye on. They are pretty much near the bottom of the league in corner three-point attempts. That’s an area that I think McCain’s going to help change. It’s going to be those baseline cuts, the relocation where he’s flying off shooters. He’s still one of the better shooters in the entire league. A guy that can catch and shoot, let it rip at a moment’s notice. And that’s all going to be a valuable addition to this team. So, welcome back Jared McCain to the Sixers floor here. welcome back to being a part of the team and cannot wait to see the ceilingless team pushed up even further. The Sixers are exceeding expectations by a major margin and this is just another ingredient added to the mix there. So, welcome back Jared McCain and cannot wait to see what this looks like tomorrow night against the Chicago Bulls. And note, no longer the undefeated Chicago Bulls as I mentioned them as undefeated uh in my postgame video last night. That was something that changed while I was recording that specific video. So, the tables are even here. The We will see what happens with these two of these Eastern Conference teams. But nonetheless, very excited to have Jared McCain a part of it. So, we’ll see what happens from there. Let me know your guys thoughts in the comments. How fired up are you for Jared McCain? I truthfully am very excited about Jad McCain. I think that this is going to be a dynamic change to the Sixers offense and cannot wait to see what it looks like in Nick Nurse’s mind here. So, make sure you drop those comments below. Appreciate you guys for tuning in this video. Drop a like if you have not just yet. I’ll be back talking to you next time right here on Sixers Digest. This.
The rich keep getting richer as the Sixers received the news that Jared McCain is set to make his return to the floor for tomorrow’s game against the Bulls. Sean Barnard reflects on why this is such a big deal for this Sixers team and where McCain fits into their current offense.

IM ABOUT TO RUN THROUGH A WALL!!!
O Heavenly father please visit every basket player with health and strength with wisdom understanding into the mighty name of the lord Jesus christ Amen glory to God we always trust thank you very much Jesus christ Amen glory to God we always trust 🎊 🙏 🙌 ❤️ ✨️ 💙 🎊 🙏 🙌 ❤️ ✨️ 💙
Thank God!!! My guy Jared!
So basically Jared McCain isn’t gonna pass VJ Edgecombe the ball unless he plays solid defense up to Maxey & McCain’s liking I get it but granted McCain & Maxey is older & you don’t wanna build a level of animosity make sure everything is clear! Seriously
McCain and PG coming back will be endless transition threes!! Bang bang bang!!
Oubre gambling
Do you bench oubre when PG comes back?
I think Grimes + Edgecomb will get a lot of time at SF in many 3 guard lineups.
Oubre + George will get some time at PF because they're both solid defenders & solid rebounders.
I also like what Watford did last game.
He can rebound , shoot , & pass very well , without giving up creation or speed
can y'all please stop talking on Jared McCain and PG 😂 🤦🏼♂️ I'll put MONEY rn they will not make the team better
I also believe eventually McCain will potentially a better “guard” than Maxey sometime down the road. BUT as of now Maxey is a pure scorer and should be allowed to be the engine that drives this team.
The Oubre hate is getting ridiculous his 6’7” two-way athletic ability alongside the 6’8” Paul George should be embraced and with Barlow at PF the Sixers could field a well balanced lineup capable of defending and scoring at will.
Last in D fense
1. Maxey, VJ, PG, Barlow, Embiid
2. McCain, Grimes, Oubre, Watford, Bona
3. Walker, Drummond, Edwards
Yes! Time to make it rain, Jared.
If Malik Beasley is cleared get him and Bol Bol ❤❤❤❤ properly developed gim.
That grimes McCain back court will kill second units
Should I pick up Jared Mccain in my ESPN fantasy points league?
Let's do this!!!
We have some bucket-getters in McCain, Grimes, and Maxey. VJ is still too raw and young to be a bucket-getter, but in the flow of the game, with teammates who command double teams or a lot of a attention, VJ can continue to flourish. However, his handles need to improve, as does Maxey's left hand. Watford, Edwards, and Barlow are all serviceable role players with some potential to be starters after some improvement and consistency. Paul George — if healthy — should be much improved from last year. Frankly, he was trash last year, so I expect a significant improvemnt. He looked washed last year, also pathetically disinterested, so I'll wait and see what he looks like this year before trashing him. Bona is not going to cut it. He's simply an offensive void. Sure, I love what he gives us defensively, other than the fouls, but he needs to develop some kind of shot that he can rely on. But he's young, so he deserves some time — but not a lot. I'm hoping Barlow can soon take over the starting center position, as I have zero faith that Embiid will be healthy for long or for the postseason. And if you're putting your money on Embiid flourishing in the playoffs, I don't know what planet you've been living on the last 12 years. He is on the list of notorious playoff chokers. So, we need help in the front court, but we've got ballers and bucket-getters, which is why we're terrible defensively but great offensively.
Lets be real.
McCain was wearing a full hand wrapped cast on the sideline of the Nets game 2 days ago.
That means the Sixers medical staff don't believe McCain has a fully healed UCL.
And there is no evidence McCain has come close to meeting the prerequisite series of 5 on 5 with contact as claimed by Nurse.
However, there are 2 factors that likely have resulted in "rushing" McCain back.
1. Nurse desperately knows that Maxey cannot continue playing over 40 minutes every night.
It was just one year ago that Maxey suffered a right hamstring strain vs LAC, after averaging a league leading 39.7 mpg.
Currently he is averaging 42.5 mpg with a back two back to backs, so that can't continue.
McCain's prime reason for possibly playing would be to take relieve Maxey, hopefully without loosing much.
Will McCain be wearing that thumb brace to appease the medical staff.
2. There appears to pressure from the top brass to satisfy the McCain Fanboys by accelerating his return.
We saw this already by having VJ start at SG over Grimes, even before it was known VJ was better than thought.
Even with the rise of VJ, it is now clear that Grimes is still more reliable and impactful.
And Grimes is proving to be the best playmaker on the roster – even better than I expected.
McCain's longer term role will have to be as a playmaker. But that will take time.
WEALTH OF BUCKETS IN THIS LINEUP….
Can we get an injury update on Barlow? He went from day 1 starter on a 2-way to missing WEEKS for a cut on the arm. Did it get infected? What’s the real scoop?
