Steven Kwan for Spencer Jones? The RUMORS are UNDERWAY!

Watch me do it again. Aiming for the top. I can’t make it by myself. I ain’t taking no taking no taking no loss. I ain’t taking no loss. Look, I’m always ain’t nobody. The off season is here and the rumors are already getting started. And even if it’s just just for fun, right? That is what the off seasonason is about. I say it every year. It is the time that fans get a chance to dream a little bit and talk about moves that probably will never happen like the one I’m going to talk about right now. So, this is from SNY’s Anthony McCarron. The Yankees trade Spencer Jones for Stephven Quan straight up. Schooled by the Blue Jays all year, including in October, the Yankees nab something from Toronto’s playbook and add a non strikeout plus contact offense to their roster via trade by dangling top prospect Spencer Jones. Can they pry Steven Quan from Cleveland? He’d be an ideal leadoff hitter who also happens to be the best defensive left fielder in baseball. Now, of course, he also mentions that Quan had an 8.7% strikeout rate. Ladies and gentlemen, you all know that Steven Quan would be a fit for the New York Yankees. Let me just throw one thing out there before we even move on and talk about anything else. It would not happen for Spencer Jones straight up. That is a very, very, very bold prediction. But again, this is what the offseason about. It’s a lot of these conversations like this. Now, Steven Quan, he’s right, is a perfect fit for the Yankees. automatically gives you a leadoff hitter, automatically upgrades left field defensively, and again, a guy that fits the Yankees lineup much better to be honest than a Spencer Jones does. Spencer Jones would be an additional guy that could hit a few homers and strike out a lot. But talking about numbers right here, this was Steven Quan last season. Again, phenomenal defensive left fielder. 272 last year, a 330 on base percentage, 374 slugging, but career-wise, a 281 hitter. This is over 2,300 career at bats. 351 on base percentage. Yes, indeed, he would make a ton of sense for the Yankees. He’s also controlled for 2026, 2027, then becomes a free agent. So, yes indeed, it would not cost just Spencer Jones. Spencer Jones on the other hand, look, he finally kind of conquered double A. Went up the triple A, got off to an unbelievable start, then kind of slowed down a little bit, but overall in in double A and AAA last year, uh 438 at bats, 179 strikeouts, a 274 average, of course, the 35 home runs, but there is no question concerns about Spencer Jones, and rightfully so. He’s a big guy. Not a lot of big players Spencer Jones size come to the major leagues and just adapt like that. It a lot of times takes these guys a little more time. Aaron Judge being one of those guys. But Aaron Judge also I hate the comparisons of well he’s the lefty Aaron Judge. No he’s not folks. He’s not. Aaron Judge is one of the most generational players we will see. Arguably one of if not the greatest right-handed hitters we will ever see in our lifetimes. Very possible. Spencer Jones is not the left-handed Aaron Judge. They’ve given him this rap because he’s as he’s a tall guy like Judge and he hits homers and he strikes out, which Judge also did in the Miners. Judge adjusted a lot of that and has just become such a pure overall hitter, average, everything goes along with Aaron Judge. But staying to the concept of this idea, I like the start, don’t get me wrong. I love the idea of Spencer Jones being a headliner for a Steven Quan. Maybe you add a pitching prospect and another low-level guy. I do believe there is and you know, no way it’s a one for one. It would definitely be a deal where you would have to have additional pieces going to Cleveland. But it makes a lot of sense for the Yankees because Anthony McCarron is right on one thing here. The Yankees strike out way too much and they don’t need to add to that. They needed to duck from that. That’s why I have been such a big big big loud voice for Bo Bashette to the Yankees because he also would deduct from the Yankee strikeout ways. Guys that put the ball in play. Steven Quan is one of those. Bo Bashett is one of those. I mean, one of those guys only cost money. The other guy, Yankees, as I said before, if anybody’s available, they could trade for just about anybody they want. That is kind of where their system is at right now. It makes sense. It makes a lot of sense. But again, disclaimer as the off seasonason is going to get a lot of this. It would definitely not be a one for one. We got to be realistic to many different things. And we could be realistic here in regards that it does make sense Steven Quan to the New York Yanks. Should be a primary target for the Yanks. What would it then look like after that? You would have Quan likely guaranteed in left field where he should play because in the Yankees outfield, left field is the most difficult position to play in Yankee Stadium. In the outfield, more difficult than center field, more difficult than right field. Left field is very, very tough at Yankee Stadium. They get a guy like Steven Quan kind of takes away all that concern of what his defense going to look like there. then very possible Jason Dominguez could return back to the position he’s more familiar with center field where in reality his speed should be able to help him out with some of the you know misjudged fly balls and bad routes he takes at the end of the day folks I’m going to leave it to you like this about repetition for Jason Dominguez Aaron Boone I you know go at Boon sometimes but I also give Boone credit here’s one of the times I give him credit Aaron Boon said in spring training in 2025 this past season, they asked him, “Do you think Jason Dominguez can play left field?” He said, “I don’t know why he wouldn’t be able to. He has speed. He’s quick. He’s athletic. I I don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to play left field.” And I agree with Aaron Boon. He also then said he just needs the constant reps. Now, there was a lot going against Dominguez last year with the Yankees crowded outfield. you know, spent uh uh uh Cody Bellinger had a very good year. Trent Gisham had a career season. Yankees could have really benched those guys. Um and Jason Dominguez just didn’t get the right time he was supposed to get. Uh hasn’t started playing in winter ball yet. There was some rumors he would play for Esco. We have not seen that yet. Would be nice to see as he could just get as many reps as humanly possible in the outfield. But Jason Dominguez in center, Quan in left, Aaron Judge in right field. I think the Yankees might I’ve been saying this for years. I think they end up trading Dominguez. But we’ll see what happens. Maybe they wouldn’t leave him in center field, but on paper if they were to make that move, you would assume that Dominguez would then be the center fielder for the Yankees and they’ll go about it that way. They then added the Bob Bashette. Now you’re really cooking because now you’re talking about a line that’s going to be really annoying. guys that put the ball in play, higher averages, higher on base percentages, a lot of O2 singles or just putting the ball in play and trying to make something happen. That is what you saw from Toronto all postseason. And Anthony McCarron is right about that. It’s a very gritty team. They don’t strike out. They just keep putting the ball in play. And it affected the Yankees chances against them with guys like Max Fared, Carlos Raldon. It really hurt the left-handed uh pitchers more so than anybody. And you saw the right-handers have a much better job, much better chance against a team like the Toronto Blue Jays just because they were a little more right-handed uh than anything else. But overall for the Yankees, this is a move that makes sense. Um I personally wouldn’t put a deal around the Jason Dominguez for Steven Quan because I think offensively Jason Dominguez could be right there with him very quickly. Defensively is another story. Kwan’s a better defender. Jones is the guy I’ve always said I would move. Out of the two, it’s always that little comparison, right? Who do you move between Dominguez and Jones? I personally have always said I would move Spencer Jones over Jason Dominguez because to me there’s less risk when it comes to Jason. Jason to me is get the defense right, brother. Le let’s get you to the point where the defense is sound and ready to go. As long as we do that, I think he’s going to be a pretty good start in the major leagues for years to come. Spencer Jones, on the other hand, there’s just a lot of concern about the bat. There’s a lot of concern. There’s a lot of concern how much he’ll strike out at the major league level. Uh change his batting stance like what a couple of times this year. Yes, it did lead to better things, which is a good sign. He’s trying to make the adjustments. That’s a great thing to see. Pretty good defensively also. But again, folks, I don’t know. We’ll see what happens here. But I just want to throw it out there. Steven Quan, of course, does make sense. He’s been a very, very popular topic of conversation. Stop looking at me, Quan. You know, that’s where I would go with it. But anyway, ladies and gentlemen, let me know in the comments below. What do you think of that move? Would you like to see the Yankees bring in Steven Quan to play left field and potentially be a leadoff hitter for the Yankees in 2026? Is that a good starting point if they were to do that? And of course, we figure out what the Yankees do with payroll. Are they going to go to 270 something? Are they going to go up to 315, 310? We don’t know. We’re going to find out. All questions will be answered, and we’ll have it all covered for you right here on NYU. Until next time, guys. Peace out, baby. Let me know in the comments what do you think. [Music] We come to collect. Did it all on my own. Yeah. When they brought it back home. Yeah. Now they calling my phone. Yeah. But I’m all in my zone. They not a threat. Tell them reset when they still not impressed. Did it all on my own. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Ain’t no one doing the [ __ ] that we doing. Ain’t nobody moving the way we moving. The sprinter and shoot.

  1. Dominguez Jones Warren and Gil for Kwan straight up contact for contact both has tremendous power and also for potential also for speed plus they will throw in two high end pitchers coming back along with Jones and Dominguez what would you think about this proposal.

  2. If they’re not not planning to start jones this year they should honestly trade him now. I mean he’s 26, so it’s put up or shut up time. Maybe I’m greedy but his value seems more than Kwan.

  3. I really hope they get Kwan. Ive been saying this for years hes the perfect fit for the team..Id also want them to try for Nico Hoerner to replace Volpe at SS..Kwan & Hoerner would fix theyre contact problems

  4. Why would CLE trade Kwan? and Yankees should not look for a trade. Jasson Dominguez for leadoff in front of Judge !!! Put him there and leave him there.
Spencer Jones in LF, Jasson in CF and LETS GO!

  5. As much as I want Jones to be a star, I would do this in a second. The track record with Yankee position player prospects has been horrible over the past decade and a half. Judge is the only prospect that truly panned out, and he literally went outside the organization and hired a private hitting coach (Richard Schenck aka "Teacherman") because the instruction he was getting wasn't working.

  6. Great channel. I would love Steven Kwan leading off for the Yankees! Plus, Pete Alonso at first base I would not mind either. Alonso hit in the year 2025-.272 with 38 homeruns! Not too shabby. Put Ben Rice catcher,.. Alonso could be that big righty bat to help Judge! And if Yankee brass do not want Jasson Dominguez please trade him now for somebody before he becomes another Estevan Florial!

  7. 🫡😉💪🏼Great Points 🎶TIME HAS COME TODAY🎶🎤Pete, LFG & Lets Do it Kwan with his Speed At The Leadoff Spot, Always a pest , contact mentality, great defense, and always in the middle of rallies. Mr. Jones right now has some elements to his game but there’s a lot of maybes attached. He is a big boy that will strike out a lot and know what you’re getting.with KWAN You know exactly what you’re getting and he has more elements to his game LFG LET’S DO IT BOSS MAKE IT HAPPEN YANKS. forever. 👶🏼 THE FIRST FAMILY OF NYYU SIMPLY THE BEST!❤️💯🙏🏼😘

  8. I’m not saying jones is lefty judge. But saying he’s not the same type of player while also admitting judge wasn’t that type of player when he initially came up is funny.
Almost like we don’t know what players will become lol.
No one thought judge would be who he’s become.
But now that he is, we can assume about others ?? Jones also doesn’t have to be judge. For his high K rate he also still hits for avg and has good OBP. So while Ks are concerning, I’d be more worried if he was hitting 200-220 in minors.

  9. Pete Jimmy Hacksaw here. Man Kwan would be great but do u make that move and not pursue Kyle Tucker? I agree Bichette should be our target. Volpe either trade him or make him utility guy. Enough is enough.

  10. While I think Kwan is overrated, I'm not sure Cleveland would move him for Jones, who is a huge question mark. I'm not a Spencer Jones fan. Cleveland might be more interested in Dominguez as a lead in the trade.

Jasson will never be a good fielder. He's not good in CF either. His bat is going to have to carry him.
