[Guzman] Fox said in media day that he’s healthy and ready to play. Spurs medical staff are unwilling to clear him yet

  1. This isn’t anything new, this isn’t a new comment. He’s trying to make it something

  2. Tbf, he did say himself he wasn’t going to play preseason or even make it opening night.

There would be no need for medical staffs if we just let the players decide when they want to play after an injury. Not sure where the sour part came from.

  3. I’m frustrated as hell, but just look to the latest Zion news for perspective on our franchise’s abundance of caution especially with a hamstring injury in a player like Fox whose burst is essential to his effectiveness. This is something they want to rehab to where it was even stronger than it was pre injury to avoid it being a recurring issue.

  4. Somebody more industrious than me should post the video so we can judge his level of sour for ourselves

  5. “Feels” ready to go and actually “ready to go” are two different things. Trust the process.

  6. Fox isn’t the issue for me, it’s kornet. Castle can handle being our starting PG but we have no decent big’s behind wemby like the last 2 years till Kornet is healthy.

  7. The universal truth of basically any sport is that athletes have no idea of their own health and fitness when it comes to injuries. How many athletes feel good to go when they have a concussion?

The season is long. Your life is longer. It’ll be fine to listen to the medical staff and trust their judgment.

  8. 1. I’m always gonna agree with med staff. If they’re holding the players out, so be it.

    2. It sucks that this is essentially choosing to lose otherwise winnable games, even if it’s the correct choice.

Just very frustrating as a fan.

  9. This is fine. If we keep winning, don’t bring them back. If we end up 5-3, they’ll be back

  10. The same medical staff that rushed Kawhi back with no concern for the long term effects (sarcasm) make it make sense😂

  11. But wait… uncle Dennis said the training staff insisted Kawaii come back before he was ready….

  12. This is the same guy who refused to get surgery on his finger when on the Kings because he wanted to try to make All-NBA. In the age of load management, I appreciate a player who wants to play through injury. But players always “feel good”. “feel ready to go” before the medicals actually say they are. The medical staff doesn’t want a setup. You can feel ready to go but the muscle can benefit from another X number of days of healing. Just chill the F out my guy. When he gets back he better look 100%, no slowdown at all. Because he’s going to get roasted if he isn’t. That’s just part of the deal.

  13. dont read into it too much, every hooper wants to play, its understandable. He’ll play soon and we’ll be the number 1-3 seed at the end of the season. Relax and GSG!

  14. I say out him out there for 5 minutes a quarter.  See how he looks.

But even early in the season these guys are practicing at 100% speed.  They’re always saving a little extra for games.

  15. I don’t think he’s ever said he’s “healthy”

But if he had to play he could. But the type of injury he has you just don’t throw him back out there.

We’ve seen what happens when a player comes back to soon. It is either injury that lingers all season at best or leads to a worse injury due to his body trying to compensate.

So if the spurs medical staff aren’t willing to clear him …maybe they have a good fucking reason for that

Trust the people with the degree not a twitter account.

  16. Same hamstring has had him out since July when he cancelled his Asia tour. It’s more serious than anybody has let on

  17. This is good.

Star player wants to play instead of load manage himself and collect money, medical staff taking care of him and not rush him back, we’re winning without him.

Hamstring injuries reoccur and it’s common for players to feel 100% before the hamstring actually is
