Blues make PERFECT move… This is WILD | St. Louis Blues News
The St. Louis Blues make a perfect move as Doug Armstrong announces today they have brought in the perfect player for the Blues as the team looks to build an even bigger identity. This one key move signifies something big for the Blues and will have fans fired up. We’re to break down all this this player and so much more in this episode. You’re not going to want to miss it. Before we get into I just want to give a huge shout out to everyone watching. and we’re trying to reach our goal of 5,000 subscribers. So, make sure to go down, hit that free subscribe button. It means the world. And in return, we’ll give you daily updates, even two videos some days on the Blues. But with that, dear, let’s just dive straight into today where the Blues did bring in Milan Luchich on a PTO in the AHL with the Springfield. Now, the big thing with this going into this, this is signifying a couple things. We’re going to break down a lot, but what is your first thoughts on bringing in Luchi on another PTO, this time in the AHL? Well, this is a name we haven’t heard for a long time. For those of you who have been subscribed for a long time, you know that I was not very complimentary of this move when it first went down in the offseason heading into training camp. But I have to say this was inevitable at this point honestly because, you know, we heard all of the injury updates. Obviously, he got injured through the preseason and he was sticking around with the team. We heard that and Jim Montgomery was very complimentary of his play and what he brings to the table and you know what he brings to a locker room as well. So I think it was inevitable at this point. It wasn’t going to go away. It did quiet down obviously as he was recovering from injury. Uh but he’s continuing to work with the team and now he’s going to be on a try out with the Thunderbirds which I think is very interesting here. He’s going to be playing with Springfield and I think at some point he can make his way up to the NHL level and I feel like this was the plan anyway. it’s just a month later because of the injury he sustained in the preseason. Uh, and we know what he can bring, I think, to a locker room, right? He’s a guy that, you know, when you look back at the Boston Bruins that won the Stanley Cup and went to multiple finals, he’s a guy that was very instrumental in that. He knows what it takes to win. And having him around some of the younger guys because make no mistake about it, you know, in Springfield as well, there’s a lot of young players that are going to be studs for this Blues team at some point. I mean, look at D’vorke. It looks like he’s already graduated at this point. So, uh, you know, there’s a lot of young guys that can learn that aspect of the game from him. So, in that way, I think it is a perfect move to keep him around the organization. If it doesn’t work out and he doesn’t make the NHL and if, you know, he’s okay playing in the AHL at some point, I wonder if he moves into, and you brought this up, credit where credit’s due to you, Mark, you know, a while ago, moves into a management role with the team, you know, where he can shed some of that light in terms of, you know, his experience and winning championships and stuff like that. So, I think it’s an interesting move. I I don’t think it makes too much sense in terms of you know he looked pretty slow at least at the NHL level and how is he going to be after uh you know sustaining this injury but keeping him around the organization just for that aspect in terms of you know uh telling stories and showing guys what it takes to win I think it does make some sense to have him around some of the younger guys and I think it’s almost one of those win-win moves where you’re bringing in a veteran that has the NHL experience coming into a very young AHL team where a lot of the guys are younger players you can pause and read through even Stenberg one of top centers in the AHL is still quite young coming through in what his second full season in the AHL on North American ice. So I think getting him into Springfield, it does show that they want to build character with these guys. You’re getting a guy that has won a cup. He’s been around the NHL. You can see the entire list there. It takes up almost the full screen on how long Luch has played. And I think the bigger picture of this is if you’re looking farther into the future of the St. Louis Blues, you have a lot of guys that are going out and proving points. They’re going to go out and lay massive hits, set the tone, and if Luch can get up to game speed, if he can come in and stand out on this PTO in the AHL, they have the cap space to kind of throw around. You can make moves to bring them up. I don’t think Luch will ever be a full-time NHL. He’s never going to go out and play 82 games plus an entire playoff run. But I do think there’s certain matchups. We see the Florida Panthers are a team that kind of f around, find out type hockey where they’re going to go out and put their body on the line. So having Luchi to set the tone in games like that could bring some value and once again he’s not going to be in the NHL for a full season. He’s already missed a decent part of it. But I think there is a world and Darius correct me if I’m wrong but I think there’s a world where maybe he comes up as the extra forward to come into the group. He can come in fill in fourth line duties get some time on the penalty or power play if you want him in front of the net. What is your thoughts on a greater scheme of this? And if there is a slight chance, listen, neighbors are out and we know D’Vorski is not going down anytime soon, but could he slide into the lineup for a couple games if they do sign him? I think it is possible because he’s going to get his conditioning up. He’s going to be on this try out with the, you know, in the AHL and I think it’s possible at some point because we’ve already seen some significant injuries. Thomas missed some time obviously neighbors out for a couple weeks and there’s a lot of trade rumors. If you look to the bottom left of the forward group, there’s a lot of trade rumors right now about Alexi Torpchenko. So, I do wonder if he ends up being traded because there’s a lot of teams around the league that would want a guy with his size. And I’m not saying that the Blues should trade him. I’m not saying that whatsoever, but there is a lot of trade rumors about him potentially being on the way out of St. Louis around the league. So, uh, if that is the case, then, you know, who takes that spot? I mean, could be a guy from Springfield, could be a younger player, maybe if they want to give him an opportunity. I don’t know if that makes so much sense to have, you know, one of these guys on the fourth line. I don’t know how that makes sense for their development. Maybe it’s, you know, we’ve talked about Texier a lot coming back into the lineup. Or maybe it’s Milan Luchich and that could make some sense in the playoffs as well because the game does slow down a little bit and it gets a little bit tighter tighter checking as series go on as well. Or maybe you just want to set the tone at the start of a series or something like that. But obviously that’s looking forward into the future. I think it’s possible. That is for sure. But there would have to be some moves uh made before that is possible. But it just sounds like they’re going to keep them around uh the organization for now cuz I think the biggest thing is looking at the cap space, they do have a little less than they started the year with. They’ve called a couple guys up. D’vorski’s against the cap now instead of being in the AHL and buried as well. But the big thing is going out with D’vorki. You want to keep him on this team as long as he’s producing. He’s not going to come off. So it does make a lot of guys extendable on this list. You can pause and go through. Listen, people are going to have different opinions on who should and should not be in this lineup. I know a lot of sler on BCH but he does have a great game from here and there but Texi is a name that if you’re moving out this clearing up cap space if you bring in Luchich you rather have that extra 2 mil from Tex and listen I’m not saying Luchich is a better player than Texier but Texier probably needs a new atmosphere he needs to go somewhere else that he can get into the lineup and it’s not showing with the Blues so maybe you move out this $2 million contract bring in Luchich on a two-way very cheap contract you clear up more room Darius do you think that could be a thing where they’re looking at saying Hey, we have Fords that we’re not playing every single night. Maybe we trade one of these guys. Luchi comes in as the extra or the extra extra on this roster. You get more room and maybe that’s what makes us or breaks them doing a bigger trade at deadline. Yeah, it’s very true. That’s a great point, right? When you look up and down the lineup, maybe a lot of guys are, you know, it could still be a try out for a lot of guys. We’ve talked, you know, Matthew Joseph has looked good so far this season. But he’s another guy, you know, we were talking about in the summer heading to the year into the year that maybe, you know, he could be a cap casualty if they want to go out and make a big splash at least because of course they do have $6.5 million in LTI relief from Tory Krug’s contract. But I think that could make a lot of sense, right? You bring in a guy like Milan Luchich that’s making a lot less, frees up salary cap space. Maybe you move somebody out that’s making over a million, $2 million, and then you free up that cap space to go out make a big splash. uh you know, solidify maybe the defense core. Maybe not even the forward group. Maybe it’s the defense core you’re looking at right now because we know that that’s been an issue so far this year. Ultimately, I think they’re going to figure it out, but maybe you want to add one more solidified piece to that defense core so you feel a little bit better about it. So, I’m wondering if they’re looking at that, too. And then, you know, you move out a forward, bring in a defenseman, and then Milan Luch maybe makes his way into the lineup at some point, like I said, down the road or something like that. But, they would have to sign him again. He is on a try out right now. So, lot of options for the team right now. There’s a lot of moving parts. Uh, obviously, I don’t think we’ll see him for a bit at this point, but they did sign him. I feel like it was inevitable ultimately uh because he was hanging around the team and they, you know, they talked very highly of him, coaching staff, all you know, management as well through the preseason. It was unfortunate he sustained the injury, but he’s back now. He’s going to be joining Springfield and we’ll see where it goes from there. But Blues fans, what is your thoughts on this? Was Aluchi the right move to bring in on a PTO? Do you think he gets an AHL contract or do you think he makes his way up to join the Blues on the main roster when he gets up to speed and gets back into shape to play in hockey? Let us know down in the comments. And speaking of comments, let’s go straight into comments of the day. Does Neighbors slide in the right side on the D’Vorski line? And I think it’s going to get really interesting when Neighbors comes back because you have a very full team already that played great hockey last night still finding a spot. But let us know down in the comments. Does Luchi make the team? Where does his neighbors play within this lineup when he does return? Is D’Vorski a full-time NHLer? Let us know all your thoughts down in the comments. But that’d be it for this episode. Enjoyed it. Make sure to leave a like, subscribe, share this with your friends. We’re back another episode, so keep your eye out for that. But I’ve been your host Mark with my co-host Dius. And take care blue.

You can’t rely on Schenn as your enforcer!
Whoever writes the video titles, you get an A+ cuz I always have to watch after reading em! 😂
I would rather see the Blues trade Joseph than Toropchenko. He goes in then corners full on. He's one of those gritty players.
Thank you for the breakdown
Why waste a roster spot for a locker room guy? This team has access to McInnis, Pronger and Jackman to give pointers to defensemen and still have Federko, Hull and Steen to lean on for offense. Use these former greats to set a locker room attitude
Lucic said he pulled his groin before playing in his first preseason game. He’s never had a groin injury. Army has to be thinking long term with that in mind.
Once he's ready, he'll be here….HA, HA, HA!!
I would not be surprised to learn, if it eventually comes out, that this whole “Lucic experiment “ was vetting and grooming for an eventual coaches or front office spot when Steen takes over. I know Monty has a fondness for the guy, and is proof himself that second chances can work.
This is a dumb move if they intend to eventually bring him up. First, the Blues need to use that extra roster spot for a veteran defensemen to stabilize that 3rd pair and to mentor Tucker, Kessel, and Mailloux. That way Montgomery can stop breaking up the top 4 to do that. A strategy which has not worked well so far this season.
Second, if they insist on wasting that spot on a fighter, I can’t believe that there aren’t better younger, healthier players available for that role that they could pickup in the minors for little in assets.
In addition to not playing in the league for almost 2 years, Lucic hasn’t had a fight in over 2 years. There’s a good chance that he’s not even a good fighter anymore. Guess they’ll find that out in the minors which is where I hope he stays.
Flawed thinking lots of good talent im the minors. So let's go give the promotion to a guy at best gives you 2 years of servicability
The nhl is too fast for 37 year old forwards. Get away with it as a defensam
I'd prefer Lucic or Texier over Joseph.
