New Orleans Saints Trade Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks | PFF
Let’s talk about Rashid Shahid really quick. Getting traded from the New Orleans Saints. So you can go up to the Seattle Seahawks for the price of uh I had it up and now I don’t. Okay. The sending a fourth round and a fifth round pick to the Saints in exchange for Rasheed whose contract is expiring this offseason. So you’re trading assets for him and then you’re going to have to sign him this offseason. But for Seattle, this is another team that is absolutely allin and they were already Dalton, we have talked about this. Sam Darnold has been one of the best explosive passers in the league this year with Jackson Smith and Jigba, Tory Horton coming along, the tight ends when Cooper Cup has been out there certainly, but this is just another weapon to be able to continue to attack deep down the field. that forces you to just cover every single blade of grass, if you will, uh 40, 50, 60 yards down the field when you have a player with his kind of explosiveness. So, I love the move for the Seahawks, even if it is like a rental and maybe you can’t sign him after this season. You’re going all in as well. And then for the Saints, obviously, if you weren’t going to resign this player, getting something for him is good on their end. But I love it for Seattle. I I love it for both teams, actually. for the Saints to get two draft picks, a fourth and a fifth for a guy on an expiring contract that they were not going to resign. I think that’s an excellent move for the Saints. And you mentioned the big thing for Shahed, I think, there with Darnold as the fit and the deep passing prow as he shown. Look, first of all, Darnold’s leading the league in passing grade. He’s leading the league in big time throws and he’s leading the league among guys with 100 attempts in average depth of target. This Seattle team, they want to get in heavy personnel, but they still want to attack downfield. And keep in mind, where was Clint Kubak last year in New Orleans when Rasheed when Rasheed Shahed was healthy? They were dropping bombs to him deep down the field off of play action. Shahed is going to have no issue sliding right into this system right away. I know, look, Tory Horton is emerging and he’s a similar type player, deep threat, fast punt returner, all of that. But the fact that you now have multiple threats like that and they’re using Jackson Smith and Jigba downfield more often, they are leaning fully into more threats in this vertical passing game. If you want to keep playing a single high, even though we have two tight ends on the field, we’re going to throw it over your head until you don’t and until you back off. So, you know what? If you don’t want us to run the football, fine. But we have Shahed. We’ve got Smith and Jigba. We’ve got Tory Horton. We’ve got Cooper Cup who will be back. He says he’s obviously more of an underneath threat than those guys, but you need that. And you still have two really darn good tight ends in AJ Barner and Elijah Royal. They’re leaning into Sam Darnold. It almost makes me wonder if they didn’t even expect Darnold to be this good. But with him throwing the ball vertically as well as he is, Shahed’s a perfect fit. And honestly, with his familiarity with Kubak, it should take him no time to get acclimated at all to this system. Yeah, I I I love the deal. I really do. It’s that the f the familiarity part of it uh makes too much sense to me with what Kubak was able to do with him last year. I’m I’m looking this up now. This year alone, Rasheed Shahed has a uh 77.1 receiving grade when he is targeted 20 or more yards down the field. And then when you look at last year, it was an 85.7. So the guy has just been one of the more reliable, explosive wide receivers in the NFL over the last couple of seasons. And certainly last year when Clint Kubak was there, uh, it was great for them. For the Saints, obviously, you’re in a situation where the team’s no good. You need draft picks. You have to get a lot younger. You’ve got to reset in ways. And if this was not a player that you were going to prioritize because Chris Olive is up for a contract extension as well, you likely weren’t going to bring both of these guys back. getting something for him was smart here at the deadline. So to me, love this landing spot. Love this landing spot for Rasheed Shahid. To me, it made a ton of sense. This you Buffalo was in the conversation as well. I heard people talk about the Steelers as a potential spot, but I I always felt as if, you know, an offense that was willing to be more vertical. I didn’t know how much the Seahawks were going to get involved for a wide receiver specifically because of how Tory Horton has been coming along, but man, very clearly, they don’t want any excuse. you know, injuries can sometimes happen in the second half of the season as well, and they want to make sure that the the the guys that they can throw to are going to be reliable, explosive, dynamic, and it’s going to give them the ability to light up the scoreboard. As long as Sam Darnold is playing confident, they did not want there to be any doubt that who was on the opposite end of those passes could get it done for him. So, love this trade for Seattle.

Not to big of a suprise…
So we, the Saints went from an UDFA in Shaheed and got a 4th and 5th rounder out of him. That's awesome
So when is Chris Olave getting traded to the NE Pats for a 3rd round pick?
That’s good cause we are rebuilding and he was undrafted. Happy for him ⚜️
His speed opens up the run game even more
Been a long time since I was this stoked about the Hawks potential. Haven’t done anything yet but I mean cmon, it’s all out there for em.
WR depth was definitely a problem for the Seahawks. There isn't much apart from JSN. You can't rely on Cooper Kupp at this stage. Tory Horton is a rookie. If Kupp or Horton is banged up who do you put out there in a 3 receiver package?
It's about to be over Go Hawks😮😁😁💪
Don't like it at all
This will also open up the running game even more. Very nice pick up at a reasonable cost. Seahawks are a serious player.
O-line depth? It's great to have targets but if we lose a guard to injury we're going to have a tough time keeping Darnold upright long enough to get the pass off.
Tory Horton is really fast, but Shaheed is a game-breaker. Always needs to be accounted for by the defense.
Called it! Needed a #2 with JSN. Can't rely or risk going all JSN. Now Defenses are not going to be able to double team JSN. This O is going to be nasty paired with an elite D. Maybe get a RG but hey this is good news
Why havnt u talked about Monday night yet??
A fabulous choice… look out!
It just makes me smile, how pissed is DK with how good the seahawks look? Haha you want a trade you got your trade DK, live with your stupidity.
Idiot didn't even know the trade value
Rahid Sashasheed in your title on screen lol
Terrible trade for hawks, it was a wide open year remember when rams went all in this could've been hawks if they got more help on that defense to make them dominant but we suck so that's that so u after the loss in the playoffs when u say why we get another wr.
