How This BLOCKBUSTER NFL Trade Impacts The Minnesota Vikings…
[Music] Yo, what’s going on everybody? You are watching Vikings now by chat sports. My name is Patrick Seman and coming up on today’s show be recapping the NFL trade deadline that just finished up about an hour ago and we do have a couple of big-time NFL trades that directly impact the Minnesota Vikings. And we actually have a trade that’s going to impact the Vikings this upcoming week taking on the Baltimore Ravens as they started things off yesterday late afternoon as they received Draymond Jones, a pretty damn good edge rusher from the Tennessee Titans for a conditional 2026 fifth round pick. Now the conditions on this deal are if Draymond Jones, if he gets two sacks in the regular season and the Ravens make the playoffs, this will be upgraded to a fourth round pick. So clearly the Ravens are terrified of JJ McCarthy. That’s my number one take from this trade is that they were just scared that number nine is going to do what he did to the Lions to them. But it’s going to be a great game this weekend. I can’t wait for it. And you guys got to let me know who you got. Ravens, Vikings. Can the Vikings get back to above 500? Let me know your thoughts down below. Give me an R for the Ravens or you can be a V for the Vikings and let me know who you guys got at US Bank Stadium this upcoming Sunday. All right. So, even though I’m sure a lot of you guys are disappointed that the Vikings did not make any moves today, no trades at all for Quid Mensa. actually the first trade deadline that has came and passed where the Vikings did not make any trades that week. But some potential good news here. Ian Rapaort tweeting this out saying free agent quarterback Asante Samuel who had a spinal fusion procedure this off seasonason was fully cleared to return to the NFL and he says Samuel becomes a top free agent and a fascinating addition. Now, if you guys remember the Score North podcast, they got that anonymous tip back in the offseason that apparently Asante Samuel was seen wearing a Vikings hat in a club down in Miami and he said, “I am going to be signed with the Vikings allegedly, but the deal wasn’t official just yet.” So, I think Asante would have some interest in the Vikings. Obviously, they need some major help at that cornerback position. And even though we’re all kind of disappointed that the Vikings didn’t make a move for a corner today, if you could pick up Asante Samuel here, I think that would be a fantastic, fantastic pickup. But let’s talk about the biggest shocker today. Man, I’ll tell you what, my jaw was on the floor when this uh notification came across my phone. The Indianapolis Colts showing a lot of faith in Daniel Jones and this current 2025 team and going all the hell in. They traded for Sauce Gardner and they gave up a hall. No, I think this was a complete fleece job by the New York Jets. I think they completely overpaid for Sauce, giving up a 2026 first, a 2027 first, and then actually a pretty damn good ride receiver in AD Mitchell. I loved him coming out of Texas. So, the Jets got a good return trying to spark a rebuild there. But clearly the Colts, they got faith in former Vikings quarterback Daniel Jones and they gave up a hall for Sauce Gardner. Now, I do just want to get, you know, this take out here because I have seen a lot of Vikings fans saying like, “Oh, why didn’t we trade for Sauce Gardner? He was out there for the taking. Why didn’t Quizzy go out there and give out two first round picks?” It would have been organizational malpractice if the Vikings gave up two first round picks for S Gardner. One, you are in no position to give up future draft capital, especially two first round picks for a guy like Sauce Gardner, a very, very good corner. But he’s also taken a step back the last couple of seasons. And also Sauce Gardner just signed the highest or the biggest quarterback contract in NFL history this off seasonason. The Vikings are strapped against the Cap. They could not have handled that contract. And maybe this year they could have handled it, but next year absolutely freaking not. So I don’t know why some Vikings fans are freaking out on Twitter saying, “Oh, why don’t we go trade for Sauce Gardner? Like that was our guy. We should have traded for him.” It would have been a terrible decision. Sauce Gardner is a fantastic football player, but for two first round picks, like would you guys have given up the 26 first, 27 first and Jaylen Naylor for Sauce Gardner? I wouldn’t have I wouldn’t have given up. No, I might have given up one first round pick and Jaylen Naylor for Sauce, but I would have given up a first and a third and Naylor for Sauce. And the Colts decided to give up 2-1. So, I’m happy the Vikings didn’t make that move. But, you know, definitely keeps this Vikings quarterback room incredibly incredibly thin. Now, we obviously saw Fabian Mororrow get the elevation to the active roster this past week, but he is back again on the practice squad. So, you still only have four corners on the uh 53 man right now. Byron Murphy, Isaiah Rogers, they have struggled over the last couple of weeks. Still got UDF, Dwight McGloin in there, Jeff Okuda dealing with that concussion, but he should be back out there, but if you would just throw Asante Samuel in this room, I we’re feeling a little better about where the Vikings quarterbacks um do stand. Now listen, obviously it’s a lot of fun when your team is, you know, involved in all the trades. Like it feels like you’re kind of playing mad in franchise mode, but listen, I am not upset with the Vikings for staying put because since you are strapped against the cap, you are going to need to build through the draft over the next couple years. Now, I think it’s easy for people to say, well, Quaz can’t draft anyways. Why would he or why would you not give up some of those draft picks for proven commodities? I understand that argument, but also those proven commodities, those proven players that you would want to trade for, they would have been big cap hits. The Vikings have I think they’re $36 million over the cap heading in the next season. Now, they obviously roll over the 16 million from this year in the next year. You also probably will lose Harrison Smith. You know, maybe you trade or cut TJ Hawinson off seasonason. So, there are ways for them to get back under that cap, but they were in no position to, you know, go all in on a guy. And also, like the Vikings are four and four. I think they’re a better football team than the record shows. But if the Vikings were, let’s just say, six-2, 7-1, then I think they would have been a little more aggressive. Like, hey, if the Vikings were six-2 right now and S Gardner was available, maybe I would have some interest in trading for Sauce. But that’s just not the reality of the situation. you’re also fighting a very much uphill battle to go and make the playoffs where if let’s just say you would have traded for sauce and maybe this season you know still wouldn’t have gone well like then you wouldn’t have your first round pick for next season then what would we be saying about the GM quid do Mensa so I think the Vikings made the right decision here again it’s fun to get involved in all these trades the NFL trade deadines normally a great time but you know the Vikings just decided to stay put and I do agree with that deal but another blockbuster move here that does impact the Innesota Vikings in a game later on the season in Dallas taking on the Cowboys. Um the Cowboys Jerry Jones just can’t help himself. Um this guy gives up a 2026 second round pick and a 2027 first round pick which also that 2027 first is the better of either the Cowboys or the Packers. So you know whichever team ends up having the higher draft pick in the 2027 draft, the Jets will get that. I think the Jets had a great NFL trade deadline, moving off two marquee players and getting a bunch of draft capital back. But hey, the Cowboys, they get better for this season. Uh Quinnon Williams is a fantastic player. Now, is he on the level of like Micah Parsons? No. But he is still a very, very damn good football player, but still the Cowboys secondary, very getable. So, that game against Dallas in Dallas, Sunday Night Football, uh I think it’s week 15 or 16 around there definitely gets a little more interesting. um and teams in the NFC like it’s an uphill battle to make the playoffs and the Cowboys clearly view themselves as a team that can make the playoffs. Um so I thought that was an interesting move there. But you guys let me know, are you upset that the Vikings didn’t make a move today? Give me a Y for yes or give me an N for no. I’m cool with it. Um you know, I would have liked for the Vikings to make a move for a corner, but you know, it’s not the end of the world that they didn’t. Um they’re also getting, you know, very very healthy here. So, you know, those are kind of the moves the Vikings were making. But um you guys let me know. Are you upset that the Vikings didn’t make a move? Give me a Y for yes or an N for no. Now, I do want to give a massive shout out to today’s presenting sponsor, and that is Prize Picks. And the hard-hitting football action is even better with prize picks. That’s promo code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. But massive, massive shout out to Prize Pix for sponsoring today’s show, Prize Pix. It’s good to be right. All right, so there’s only one trade in NFC North today, and it was our good old friends, the Chicago Bears. Their defense has been struggling um immensely and they decided to go get actually a former first round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Joe Tyrron Shanaka or Shinka. Definitely botching that name, but uh it’s pretty on brand for me trying to pronounce tough names in the NFL. But the Browns did receive a 2026 sixth round pick. Bears got a seventh round pick back. So, not a real big needle mover there for Chicago. Um you know, their defense is very bad right now uh with all the injuries they have in the secondary. Jaylen Johnson out for a long period of time like that Bears defense like the Vikings should have their way um not this weekend but the next weekend in US Bank Stadium. So that was only traded in the NFC North. But I do want to talk about the Vikings here and you know just talk about their schedule because it’s going to be an uphill battle to make the playoffs. So I’m going to look at this in terms of a four-ame chunk, a three-game chunk, and a twoame chunk. The next four games you got the Ravens, Bears at home. I think you bare minimum need to split those and then you got the Packers and Seahawks on the road. Bare minimum need to split those games. But pretty much what I’m saying is those next four games, let’s just say you go two and two. So then you get the six and six. The Commanders at home, that looks like a very winnable football game. The Cowboys on the road, Cowboys look pretty bad last night on Monday Night Football. You should go in there and win that football game if you are a playoff team. And the same can be said about the Giants. So, if you could somehow get to eight and six and then you’re taking on or nine and six and then you’re taking on the Lions and Packers last two games of the regular season both at home. If you just split that, you get to 10 and seven and then you will probably get into the playoffs with 10 wins. But I really do believe this. I think the Vikings can go on a run and it all starts this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens. Like even JJ McCarthy when he was breaking down the team after the game, he said, “Guys, we can’t let this be an emotional letdown spot because that’s been the Vikings calling card, not only in the KOC era, but even the Mike Zimmer era where you have this big time, big- time win,” which that was against the Detroit Lions on the road as a nine and a half point underdog. Normally the Vikings the next week, they’ll get blasted. Like I think the best example under the Kevin Okonnell era was when they beat the Buffalo Bills in that crazy game in Buffalo. The Vikings, I think they moved to 8-1 at the time or maybe it was 8-2 and then the Dallas Cowboys came in the US Bank Stadium and just put belt to ass on there. It was a 40-3 game. Micah Parsons dominated that ball game. So that emotional let down spot, it’s going to be tricky, but these next two weeks are absolutely massive. You’re taking on the Ravens and the Bears at home. Go 2 and 0. I know it’s going to be tough, but you have owned the Bears over the last couple of seasons and the Ravens tough matchup. Um, the one thing that I think is going to be a major problem, and it’s been a major problem with the Vikings defense all season, um, is getting the quarterback to the ground because the Vikings are generating pressures at a very, very good rate. They’re top three in the NFL in total pressures, but they haven’t been able to get home to the quarterback and bring him down. I mean, even we saw Jared Goff duck a Jonathan Gennard potential sack. Like, what do you think Lamar Jackson’s going to do? So, that’s going to be huge. Also, even though they stopped the run last week, they have struggled against a run for the majority of this season. So, the Ravens, they’re going to post a tough test, but that Bears game, the Bears are fighting to make the playoffs as well. That’s going to be a massive spot for this team. And in the end, it all comes down to JJ McCarthy. Let’s call it like it is. We were saying this before the season. We are saying this heading into the Lions game and we’re saying it again. The right arm of JJ McCarthy will determine if the Vikings make or don’t make the playoffs. And I got faith in the kid. I think the Vikings I think they’re going to do it. I think they’re going to make the playoffs. I think they’re going to win their next two weeks. Probably drop the next two to the Packers and Seahawks. Tough places to play. I mean, the Packers, even though they struggled against the Panthers, and they lost Tucker Craft for the year, so maybe that’s a, you know, more of a getable game than we thought. But the Seahawks, I think, you know, you can make the argument they’re the best team in the NFL. But then you got to rip off three in a row. Commanders, Cowboys, Giants, you have to go three and 0 in that three-game stretch. And then you just split with the Lions and Packers to finish off the season. Get to 10 and seven. Anything is possible. Um, and again, everything the Vikings, you know, sought out to accomplish before the season, it is very much, very, very much on the table still that they can still go win a playoff game. You just got to play good football. But also, what I think is so key with this team is that you just proved to yourself you can beat anyone anywhere at any time. going and beating the Lions on the road with them coming off a buy was so big just to instill confidence in this football team that you know they probably truly do believe that even though they got the Ravens two-time MVP Lamar Jackson Derrick Henry one of the best running backs of all time coming into your building they’re not going to be scared. So I’ll ask you guys this. Will the Vikings make the playoffs? Give me a Y for yes or an end for no. We’ll get on out of here as always. Let’s go Vikes. [Music]

SKOL! We need to take a flyer on Asante Samuel Jr. because what do have to lose with our corners getting torched week in week out. We need to find a way to clone Harrison Smith, it is too bad this is his last season.
We just need the division
We've already won 2 division games on the road

V Skol Vikings 👊
We have four picks in the top 100 next year. I like a lot of the corners in next year's class and running backs
Vikings all day
We need to keep as many draft picks we get draft and build the team with young players we can have on rookie contracts for a few years
To hell with 10 and 7. Win out. 13 and 4

Doom and Gloom.
The game vs the commanders is winnable since Daniels will probably be out.
V
Malpractice??? They can’t draft for poop. A player that can play is worth two picks. You are crazy!! Unfollow.
V
Not really the players I wanted weren’t traded so it takes 2 to tango, Rip, Jackson Powers, and Sweat weren’t traded. I hope they bring Asante in, see what he’s got

Wow! That is too much for Sauce Gardner.
Vikings really really really need a quality corner back. Maybe they just couldn't come to terms with any other team. Who would they trade? They would have had to give up draft capital. Vikings are thin at so many positions. Playoffs are a bit of a longshot but they are a key injury away of sinking the season. Staying healthy has been a major challenge this season.
N
If they had lost to Detroit, I'd have been all in on trading as many as possible…now, not so much, although Hock could go if an great offer came in.

Click bait tittle.
yes, Skol 🤟
🤦🏾😭 we DESERVE everything we have coming the rest of this season…. And I wholeheartedly hope both KOC & KWESI get fired after this bullsht 💯 terrible drafts & bad acquisitions / cute 5 yard plays & “whispering” to already developed high draft picks …. Fkn frauds !!!!! All ownership cares about is being SEMI COMPETITIVE IN DIVISION & we’re supposed to be happy with a rumor a mf with a bad back is interested 😆😆
