Debrusk – Pettersson – Garland

Kane – Reichel – Boeser

DOC – Blueger – Sherwood

Sasson – Räty – Karlsson

Hughes – Myers

M. Pettersson – Hronek

E. Pettersson – Willander

I think there's a world we move reichel to the wing, but I think management probably still wants to see what Reichel can do down the middle for a bit longer

  1. I really want to see Reichel on Petey’s wing. Wonder if that could help unlock some offense. Maybe I’m grasping at straws, who knows

  2. I dont like Sherwood on the 3rd line. He is our leading goal scorer and was close to 2 goals last night playing with decent linemates. You gotta ride that wave

  3. we cannot get Hoglander back quickly enough, I wanna see Hoggy-Petey-Garland line just light things up and Hoglander would probably be fantastic in Foote’s systems

  4. I think Reichel gets shifted to petey’s wing tbh. So the lines would look like:

    Reichel – EP40 – Garland

    Debrusk – Blueger – Boeser

    Kane – Raty – Sherwood

    O’Connor – Sasson – Karlsson/Bains

    Hughes – Hronek

    MP29 – Myers

    EP25 – Forbort/Willander

    Demko

    Lankinen

Not sure why Kudryavtsev is still in the lineup tbh, Abby really needs him. Blueger wasn’t the worst at 2C last year (with Petey and Chytil out), better defender and faceoff guy than Reichel is. Reichel has more potential on the wing imo.

  5. Raty Petey Garland – Raty to help with faceoffs in offensive zone to help set up more offensive zone time.

Debrusk Blueger Boeser – Matchup line, These guys need to step up if they want to core players. In theory they should be decent with Debrusks speed and Boesers board work.

DOC Reichel Sherwood – speed and chemistry

Kane Sasson Karlsson – Glad Kane stepped up on the PP but he isn’t very good. Maybe it give him a shot in the arm to play better but I’m mostly just tired of seeing him on the ice all the time.

Hughes Myers – Hronek and Hughes will get their minutes but Hronek plays much better as the guy on his line IMO.

    Pettersson Hronek

DPetey Joseph – Happy to see Willander play and he obviously can skate but he isn’t NHL level. Kudrarsev should be above him or Mancini if healthy.

  6. As much as I think Pettersson and Garland play a synergistic game and would rather keep them together, without Chytil I think we need Garland to drive a second line, so I would try:

    Boeser-Pettersson-Sherwood

    Reichel-Räty-Garland

    O’Connor-Blueger-DeBrusk

    Kane-Sasson-Karlsson

The hope is that Sherwood can enable Pettersson-Boeser similarly to how Höglander does, as the F1 for Petey to play off of, and a secondary transition driver for when defenses gap up on him in the NZ.

I think Reichel is more likely to thrive on the wing, and that Garland is the only player other than Petey that can unlock his offense as a rush chance creator. For Räty to succeed he needs speed on his wings, and this feels like the best bet right now.

DeBrusk might be better suited to the 2LW spot, but I want to see if we can get Reichel going first. JDB has experience on his off wing, and might be pop in a secondary scoring role on the third line with easier matchups. He and O’Connor are liable to find some good looks off the rush together.

I’d rather see Bains out before Karlsson, not really because I think Bains has been *bad*, but I’m a bigger Karlsson fan. He’s one of the strongest players on the team along the boards and at the netfront, and he and Kane could find some chemistry in the cycle game (that backhand to find Kane last game was beautiful).
