  1. This is crazy, he easily could of gotten more on the open market, and at the minimum could of gotten an extra year or two or term.

I think he wanted to stay (he made it sound like that in interviews) and wasn’t worried about the extra couple million since he was likely looking for a prove it deal. I love it

  2. He was in tears talking about how much the team had meant to him in his short stint on Saturday night. Job’s not finished. Psyched he put his money where his mouth is.

  3. This is the kinda thing that gets other players to follow suit and take less to stay. What a lad!

  4. Gets to play with a contending team, gets to play with a fun team. Gets to have a full year as a starter before cashing in, instead of trying to cash in off a handful of starts coming off Tommy John.

  5. Congratulations to the nation of Canada for having one respectable Bieber within their borders. It is a great day for Canada, and therefore…

  6. Goddamn, based off the ending comments from his wife, definitely thought he was testing the market. Yayy to another starter next year!

Fuck it, let’s go chase down Skrubal 🤣🤣

  7. You just know how amazing the club is when I guy literally is like “yeah I could make more, but I love this team too much.”

    LFG.

  8. Wow thought that was going to be an easy opt out even when he signed the deal. Keeping the former guardian crew together

  9. Fuck me. We traded him away because we thought he had no chance of returning to us. Turns out the man who took a pay cut to stay in Cleveland is loyal to his team.

  10. Bowden had him locked in for a 9 figure mutli-year so this is a big development. Seemed like he loved Toronto. And speaking of- are there any players that go there and don’t love it? There’s a stigma around signing there but everyone loves playing there

  11. He must love Toronto. This is such a massive gesture on his part. He could’ve easily gotten a two or three year contract.
