This has basically been the formula for every 7/8 seed team to get into the playoffs each year. OT point merchants rack up >.500 points percentages and their <.500 win/loss records don’t matter.
It’s not inherently a bad thing. Blame the NHL’s dumb points system. And yes, I know the 3-2-1-0 points systems yield basically the same standings.
The team is playing extremely well right now. The problem is, the team isn’t very good.
Hey if we’re going to loose anyway it might as well be in overtime
I’m cautiously optimistic. So many OT games mean that they have been competitive, and hopefully, it’s building some confidence that could possibly translate into consistent winning. At the very least, it’s allowing them to keep pace in the division.
But they might go full Sabres at any time and make this comment look dumb as hell.

Gotta learn how to win, I’ll take them over losses
We’ve taken 10 of our last 14 points.
You want to make the playoffs, that’ll do it.
I expected those four OTLs to be regular Ls. We would be almost last in the NHL otherwise.
If we could’ve sent games to OT over the last couple years the drought would probably have ended a few years ago.
This is the next step, prying points out of every game you can.
I get it that people think ok this is progress. But 5-1-4 isnt it fam, 14pts were 1pt ahead of florida and the basement. We need to do better

Four regulation losses – you missed that part
